1424I love my 101 but am frustrated by the luck of proper support. Would love to see an update to 2.3
1420I have used archos devices for at least 3 generations going all the way back to the archos 605 and i have been inpressed, but now that i have owned a 70it android device it makes me wonder if there going to get it right this time with the gen 9 units. It seems that whenever they release these things there always apear to be bugs that show up later on in it's lifespan.I think that they should ditch the archos os and stick with the android os only like all other devices like samsung etc.
1416Just make the device more stable! Have a Android 2.3, More RAM, and a better touch screen
1405Overall, I'm very happy with my 101it. I was disappointed with the lack of included accessories (no screen protector, case/sleeve, or stylus).
14042.3
1398Initially, i thought i was getting "bang for buck". Now im thinking I should have waited. two hundred more bucks and could have had the samsung..
1388it is a great product, wish i could get an update on android 3 honeycomb, thanks
1379i saw the reviews and i like it very much
1378I want to buy yours products, but you don´t say nothing obout RAM memory or SD capacities
1371I love the kick stand and the size of the device, however I wish the speakes were better quality. A glass screen would also be nice as well.
1366the most important thing is 1. better battery life 2. more solid hardwere 3. more system stability, faster 4, supprot ad hoc network very very important 5. support android market 6. need gps
1348The screen can not be Twisted nematic (TN) and need +512mb ram
1345You rocks!!!!
13441. Improve tether (or any kind of connectivity) with blackberry devices. 2. Reduce heat emission from left side of tablet (70 IT 8gb) 3. Extend available memory for apps installation
1334make gen8 can downgrade the firmware. and make the wireless 稳定,
1331Ability to hide the softkeys panel ( Very important)
1330I'm pretty happy with my archos tablet. It does everything I wanted it for.
1322My biggest problems have been: 1) The low number of apps I can install -Very big problem 2) Glare from the screen in sunlight and view angles 3) Power button sometimes needs three presses 4) Launcher often takes a long time to refresh 5) Bluetooth tethering is unreliable Only problem 1 is a deal breaker but I didn't find out until I purchased it-I am a bit disappointed about that. However, it is light, cheap, and powerful enough with good battery life, and when I don't keep seeing "Low on memory" errors I love it.
1313I love the Archos Gen8 series, mainly the 70 and 101. I would love better viewing angles and android 2.3 and 3.0.
1312i paid 300 euro in december for the 101 it and i dont really feel ive gotten value for money. ive had hangs , freezes and the wifi drives me nuts sometimes. it just seems like everytime im about to start enjoy using it something else happens to piss me off and make me hate it again. if this is the flagship gen 8 device from archos then i would seriously consider not buying another product with the archos logo on it. P.S. id love to have another distro of linux running on my tablet so support to install another os is important to me but not angstrom, which is kinda unusable for regular people. maybe ubuntu or bodhi linux or just an option to dual boot into an os of my choosing ,easily.
1311Would love to have honeycomb 3.0 made available for all gen8 devices with 1ghz processor or higher. i have a 70IT and would love to have it on my tablet.
1308For me, it's mainly a request for bigger and better hardware for the Archos 70/101IT. Specifically: - Expand the RAM to 1-2GB's. - Have a built-in webcam/camera with at least 2 Megapixels AND have a 2nd webcam on the back with the same 2 Megapixels. - Have the speakers put on the front sides of the device instead of on the back. - Allow the user access to Overclock to speeds of about 1.5-2.0 without needing root access and set the device to run at 1GHz by default right out of the box. - Allow the user to set the CPU of the device to use an external HDD as internal storage instead of the internal Flash memory being used ... OR ... use both external HDD AND internal Flash memory as 1 total amount of storage if possible. - Make the next version of the Archos 70/101IT just a tad bit thicker to allow a user to slide in a laptop HDD with up to 1TB of storage inside the Archos via a built-in, enclosed SATA port on on the back of the device and have it enclosed like the bottom of a laptop with its cover. Also have the system's firmware capable of reading/writing to any laptop HDD up to 1TB that is installed. - Add a Mini USB port that can read/write AND charge other devices that are connected to it. - Put a full HDMI port on it instead of a Mini HDMI port. - Allow the device to charge from the full USB port. - Put a full size SD Card Slot in it like my Creative Zen X-Fi has ... OR ... put 2 Mini SC Card Slots on the side of the device. - Add a slot on the back or side of the device so a user can lock a stylus (up to 3/4 the size of a pen) to the side or back of it and put the stylus out when they need it. - Finally, above ALL else... keep/upgrade to the most stable Android version possible! =D
1295Better Search engines Compatibility with Windows Media Player
1289Please Android 3.0 for Archos 43 :)
1276I love my Archos 101 - want a good Case. Look at this: http://www.newmp3technology.com/a101case.htm
1274Bluetooth/Tether Blackberry Storm support. Response from Archos is that this is not possible due to incompatability issue.
1261When I bought these two archos 70 250gb units in Dec. 2010, I was disappointed and upset I was not able to use Flash player.. I kept looking for an application so I would be able to view videos from websites, including my missed network tv shows. Last night, Feb. 26 at 3 am, I was searching,again...to my surprised, I found Flash player on AppsLib! I uploaded and it works! I AM NOW VERY HAPPY WITH MY ARCHOS 70 250gb!!! I saw most of my missed shows and shopped on a couple of sites that showed video of the items, before I bought them. ps, I was under the impression that I had to wait for a firmware update to 2.2 that would include Flashplayer 10. I am glad I kept checking appslib, for the program. I enjoy your products, that's why I did not give up! Laura Little
1234Honeycomb update!!!
1230Great questions, I think almost everything is important. But better touchscreen, free plugin and stable firmware are the most important.
1224PROXY SUPPORT
1222honeycomb on gen8!!!
1215I'm using 101IT 16G now, as my system memory is close to 60M then I cannot install any apps to the device even I have got 14G memory on sd card.
1187First of all, I love my 101it. I wish the promissed full Flash support would already available to watch catch up tv on the move. I would also love to see the future Android revisions to be released for this tablet as well as the option of hiding the soft buttons and the possibility of having dualscreen support when connected via hdmi.
1184support for messenger
1165Please support Honeycomb!PLEASE!!!
1164Keep up the good work.
1160really want firmware Android 3.0 Honeytsomb on Archos 101 Internet Tablet
1158Great work so far. Please research and decide whether to release Gingerbread or Honeycomb, save yourselves time by focusing. Do not develop both or it will slow you down. On current devices, stabilise froyo and release next version soon (preferably Honeycomb). Make sure applications don't read the resolution wrong (the soft key is often counted as part of screen). On Next Device, try to make the screen flush with the bezel, To decrease fingerprint and glare just include a matte screen protector, cheap solution to expensive problem. Need a basic case (book type) at least. The weight is already very good and the thinness is also good for flash models. Make sure to increase RAM to 512 and app space increased to 2GB at least. A higher pixel density LCD will be appreciated. Keep price below $350, if at $300 with all said feature, it will kill competition. Keep 3G connectivity an option (higher price for 3G). Archos currently have a great balance between price, feature, support and performance. Increase feature and performance, keep support and slightly increase price.
1157make a 3.5" phone with wvga, capacitiv touchscreen, cortex a8 1000mhz, 512mb ram, microsdhc, speaker but no camera so basicly an upgraded A32it :P
1150i do love my 101 16GB, just wish it had 512MB ram and MAYBE a better camera. i can live with everything else.
1149Would love to see refined and custom UI for the Archos IT series. Android UI from the phone OS looks too cheap and feeble.
1148Now that market.android.com is here, can you install google android official marketplace apps more easily
1146Overall the 101 has been a decent device. Hardware-wise, it is nothing compared to my Viewsonic GTablet but the 101 is smaller, lighter and easier to carry around the house. Don't even try Flash on it though. Overall, I'd give it a B and the GTablet a B+ since they have near even trade offs. But neither is an end user device. Strictly for tinkerers and hackers.
1142Accessories please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1141The recent updates have vastly improved things , but im still getting lots of forced browser closing while watching anything in flash.
1136The crashes have to stop, especially in the youtube app. Features that reallly, really need to be implemented: - Ability to hide the menu buttons and run apps at fullscreen. This can be done in the power button hold menu. - Hardware accelerated flash support. - As much storage as needed for android apps
1135Wish transflash cards were much cheaper. $2/gb is too high.
1134-enable IPv6 support -optimize applications for large screen (eg mail, show inbox and message side by side) -currently availible office solutions have very limited features. -ntfs write support
1133I'm very happy with the support Archos has given, and I would love it to keep coming, both gingerbread and honeycomb updates would be great!!
1131I quite like the Archos 70 8GB so far. My biggest problems with the device are: 256MB RAM is quite small (even 384MB would leave twice as much room for running apps), battery drain when in sleep mode, device lockups/freezing/lagging, lack of google apps.
1129I Like my 101. but the view angel of the screen ist not that what a tablet should have. Memory should be for sure 512 in aktual model. for future it has to be about 1gig ram. android 3.0 dualcore on 3.0 touchscreen that tuely can multitouch. if u test the screen u cant cross on axis. just stay with one finger in the middle of one side and u cant cross the rel axis with the other at the other side. google market. ok. we have it with tricks, but would be nice to have it stock. if u downgrade some funktions. like wifi /n with firmware updates. then u have to tell the people, before ...dont let them find out for self. speak tu us. so we have a choice of updating or not. well, thats it for the moment..
1123we need 3g usb modem support and firmware update for gingerbread or honeycomb...
1121Improve the Support - Questions are made to be answered, and I guess there a just specific questions answered, don't be too selective, it leaves a bad taste
1104I just really hope you set the cpu back to 1ghz and release honeycomb, or at least dont stop the community from doing it. Great device though.
1103Despite lockups and weird viewing angles I really enjoy my tablet. 256MB ram hurts a lot though.
1102Hi, USB Host port does not work on my device. Archos remain silent on the issue. Please confirm if hardware or firmware related. Otherwise a great litle tablet
1098appslib is...well...unfriendly, unuseful etc
1086Feel free to contact me if necessary.
1084Battery life is very important. Not having to worry about running out by including a larger battery in future would be nice.
1075I love the 70. It makes school much easier because I am able to take my textbooks, video tutorials, and email with me on a readable sized screen but still pocketable wirh no more weight than the device itself.
1071wishes: - real WiFi N support (faster down-/upload) - better system management i.g. battery life, application killing, memory management - non glossy display - other low battery tone ;-)
1070Be able to lock portrait.
1065The touch response on the 43 is abysmal - capacitive touch is a must for this form factor.
1062The 101 rocks ! I tried Ipad and Galaxy, but today the archos tablets is not trying to be its best, it is the best.
1060Great work so far Archos now give us official Flash support!
1053Screen responsiveness and onscreen keyboard are really my only gripes. I've gone from HTC G1 which I used as a tablet to this, the screen quality/accuracy is a problem. Nice device though, especially for the cost!!
1052Experience frequent locks, freezes, mysterious power drains.
1036I would appreciate very highly if my "101" would actually achieve the advertised capability to tether to my HTC TouchHD with WM 6.1. - To me the apparent lack of "internet", reduces the value of the tablet quite a bit. All the other issues seem minor to me, compared to the inability to get mobile internet. With this thing fixed, your Gen8-tablets are bound to become even more of a hit.
1035Please, make a standard 'enable root' setting. It essential for backups. I do not want to use an uncertified tool like Archangel or install the SDE and an uncertified OS image.
1030in next firmware,please enable connection ad-hoc wireless.thanks =)
1029Froyo for Archos 5IT is very important
1025Upgrade to Android 2.3 (and later, Android 3.0) is very much needed for a longer shelf life for the Gen 8 tablets. I would prefer a more mainstream distribution instead of Angstrom. Especially since Ubuntu has a nice Netbook edition which would look good on a tablet.
1024I appreciate the work archos' software developer invest into improving the device with new firmwares. This fakt is telling me that archos cares about the customer and the customer's satisfaction with their products. So archos shoult retain their good work. A very nice feature in future firmwares would be the possibility to fade the android softkeys in and out of the screen (especially in games) e.g. by pressing the power key together with volume up/down.
1018101 is an excellent tablet. It's much lighter than the iPad. WiFi issues introduced with recent firmwares are unacceptable (as this is the only way to get online with this device). Please fix this.
1011GOOD WORK ARCHOS! NOW GIVE ME ARCHOS 70 IT, 2011 EDITION WITH HONEYCOMB, TWO CAMERAS, GPS, AND 3G!
1009The A101 is a really fine device - but it could be better, e.g. concerning the multi touch sensitivity of the screen.
1008My device has decided to stop playing 720p content smoothly. :(
1003Of absolute importance: upgrade to android 2.3 for the archos 43 and smaller with 3.0 for the 70 and 101
1000Overall it is a great device. I like the fact that Archos is providing regular updates. It seems you should allow rooting without the warranty comments.
999Loosing images on external sd card after connecting device to pc via usb is a must fix bug.
998We need ad-hoc mode for WiFi
995hardware accelerated flash support and honeycomb. Great product!
994I am happy with my A70 thanks for the timely updates. This is my first android based unit having fun experimenting and learn it's capabilities. My biggest complaint I'd like to have more then 300mb for apps. Thanks
990I love the form factor (size, weight and screen size) of the 101. Unfortuantely, Archos hasn't done a good job on quality control. I had to return my first 101 (an 8GB model) due to hardware failure--right speaker failed then firmware upgrade 2.1.02 killed my USB host port, which worked flawlessly the day before the FW upgrade. I'm giving Archos a second chance and have ordered a second 101--a 16GB this time because it's the only model I could find in stock. I should get it early next week. I'm hoping I don't experience issues with it. I would urge Archos to more thoroughly test their FW on a variety of units, including some with popular apps installed, before releasing them. There have been numerous reports about FW upgrades killing the USB host port, starting with FW 2.0.71. Archos is wanting to ignore the issue and indicates that users posting about the problem in the archosfans.com forums just don't understand how to use their tablets. Shame on you, Archos; you have a potentially hot piece of hardware, but only if you improve quality control at the factories of your Chinese contractors building these tablets and you don't rush out buggy FW that may actually disable hardware.
989honeycomb would be very nice!
986sound from music player in background skips or changes volume when doing other tasks and can get very annoying. Otherwise I love the A70IT
984The Archos 101 is amazing, and its key feature is its price. Please don't do anything to compromise that. One thing that I consider critically important but not listed in this survey is standard root access. You can add a checkbox for it to the development section of settings. Without root, backups cannot be taken, and advanced customization (even with a R/O system) is not possible. This limits user freedom, unnecessarily requiring installation of the SDE.
978Want to have a fix for the loose kickstand of my 101it.
976so far love the device new firmware has really helped out the performance issues on my 101 8gb
974You also should improve your support. It seems as if they never answer to anyone.
973I am very happy with the quality of my archos 43 IT, however i am disappointed that it only gets a resistive screen. also the screen is quite inaccurate.
971More support for hard disk issues. Having to constantly rescan my whole huge music collection is ridiculous.
970Some apps ar not working smooth, like live backgrounds, Keyboards and others, wich will always return to default and forget their settings. Please make device EASY rootable - its open souce System! Make USB-TV-sticks work! Very good support for firmware updates - but still waiting for flash.
961Please include ROOT access by default.
957my main complaints would be the screen quality and RAM amount. both are productivity killers. a multimedia device should have a screen worthy of displaying movies.
953Loving my 101it keep up the good work
952PLEASE ANDROID 3.0 if possible
944I like my 43, but why does it have to freeze that much??? Better screen (re: capacitive) would also be highly appreciate.
943In general I'm happy with my A70it. It would be nice if it were more stable though. Some of that is probably due to what needs to be done to get access to Market and the Google apps.
942I love my A70 so much that I would like to be able to have full 3G/4G GPS etc. I would basically like to be able to replace my Android phone because I rarely make phone calls (I text and call using google voice and sipdroid on my A70). My biggest complaints are that the wifi cuts out even when I disable powersave. The updates that have been released have helped but I would really like to just leave it on all the time no matter what. The device gets good battery life and I carry my charger with me so I am not worried if it drains. The device freezes from time to time and then reboots. It isn't a huge deal and I am guessing it is being caused by an app that I am running. It has gotten better with the hotfixes that have been released. The cell phone tethering via bluetooth works but it cuts out from time to time and can be a little difficult and confusing. While the wifi can occasionally cut out, the bluetooth cuts out a lot more often and sometimes I have to restart the entire device to reconnect. Those things said, the device exceeds my expectations in so many ways. The video support is the best in its class. The display is great for reading ebooks and playing games. It is a great companion for my commute. I recommend them whenever I can.
941Honeycomb and full google android market support is a must.
938USB Android to Android, why doesnt that work. Android to Android bluetooth, that doesnt work either.
932It will be cool if I could use my usb dongle. And if I could hide the buttons on the right side with a multitouch gesture or something.
931Very disappointed with Archos quality control. Already had to return my 101 due to defects. Had I known I probably would not have bought. it. As a comparison, the Nook Color is cheaper and is a much better built device and is easily modded to become a full fledged tablet. Including a camera of the quality of the 101 is almost pointless. Archos gets a feature added to their list for marketing purposes but you can't actually use it because it is of such poor quality. They might as well have left the camera off the device. If you're going to add such a feature it should work.
930The plastic feel is very poor with the sqeeking noise it makes.Within two months I could not charge my archos had to to manually unsolder, re-solder the dc jack to fix, why? Archos customer service is the worse I have seen and I decided to forget the RMA and do it myself.Archos needs to be quick with updates, they are way too slow.Their website update is also ridiculous.
927Happy with the basic tablet. Would LOVE to see more RAM and space for applications to install. I have no major issue with product - knew what to expect before order. The camera quality was disappointing though.
926I really want Honeycomb.
921Overall, I've been very happy with my purchase of the A70IT, but there are a few items that could use improvement. First, as I'm sure is a well known issue with other, a product marketed as having Flash available should have it available in a timely manner - I'm aware it is dependent on Adobe, but an update to customers on status should be given at least. Second, the 256MB of RAM on the Gen 8 devices is rather sparse, and causes issues with system performance at times. An option to repartition the system to use 512MB would be nice for users, even if it meant having to completely wipe their system. This is also a concern for updateability to following builds of Android, i.e. Gingerbread, Honeycomb, etc. Finally, the lack of GPS in the Gen 8 series is disappointing - future devices should include it, or have the option available at purchase; an Archos GPS accessory should be made available to those of us with Gen 8 devices. (On the topic of accessories for purchase, a car charger for the 70/101 would also be nice.)
919very happy with A 70 just want good flash player
918many issues such as ext3 support for >4gb files have been provided with the latest gen 8 firmwares anyway.
917Very happy with my A70, and firmware updates from Archos
916very nice Thing
915Very good device. Most important would be support for android 3.0 honeycomb
910Improve the stock browser, reflash the memory to give 1 gig ram.
909Try to give a long time update and Support. I love my router from avm (this is the 8th Munition from avm i bought in 10 years).
908Needed: increase application space above 300mb.
899i got the archos 70 8gb i find it is a great product but i also have some issues: the display quality is not the best (can't display real magenta, greenish colors are of and general saturation is low) so it would be perfect for us mediadesigners if we could "calibrate" the screen for ourselfes - basically adjust hue, saturation, contrast. or you could implement something like the color vibrance setting on nvidia gfx-cards - a digital color overdrive for the weak spots of the display (red, magenta) (if android doesn't support that than it surely could be done over the openGL interface...) and another thing is that the touch screen could really be more accurate and - i don't know if the hardware supports it - i really would like to see 3 point (or more) multitouch for music applications (keyboard, drumkits, etc) greetz from germany niels
898I would like to see: 1. the option to disable the 32mb swap file in a menu, or increase it to 64mb without resetting the device. 2. I would like the issue with the on screen android keys looked at, maybe an option to hide them at a key press. 3. I would like an optimized flash plugin asap please. thanks
896So far my A70-8 is performing well with firmware 2.0.71. No intention to change to 2.1.04. Waiting for certified Flash support. Had some WiFi issues due to weak signal or some other interference but it has been mostly remedied by using WiFi Buddy and preventing re-scans. Don't use task killers right now but use Battery Booster to insure that WiFi is shut down on sleep and re-started on wake. It has been working well with very few lock-ups. Although it does happen occasionally.
892My device is Archos 101 16G .It is good.Only the speaker is bad. One week, I lose my right speaker. And one month I lose another one speaker. Now my archos 101 is no sound. Oh! Just one month! So a speaker!
891Your survey pretty much handled everything I want, but here is my dream: -I want something with amazing build quality, the 101 feels flimsy! -The screen needs to be hard, not soft! -I like the 101's resolution, but want the 70's size and storage capacity. Seriously, a 70 with a higher resolution would be great, since most websites render in 1024 pixels these days. -Honeycomb is too beautiful an opportunity and needs to be implemented to Archos ASAP! -Full sized USB ports are a MUST! Few competitors offer those, and definitely none of the big names do! -HDMI out, keep it! But maybe if possible make the 3.5 mm jack double as an AV out jack! Not all TV's have HDMI! -I know you yourself cannot put out the market due to Google's restrictions, but how about making a link to the fanmade google market hack? So everyone can find it! As for smaller things, I would LOVE to get the Archos 3.2, but it just doesn't do a good enough job for me! If you want to replace people's iPod touches (and my Cowon J3) here are some musts! -Keep the microUSB host, that is brilliant! -Capacitive touchscreen IS A MUST! -Physical playback buttons on the side of the device. This means Volume, Forward, Previous and Play buttons, PHYSICAL BUTTONS! When using a device as a music player, those buttons are invaluable. You can't touch a touch screen without looking after all! -Your audio format support is unparalleled, keep that going! -Lastly, STORAGE CAPACITY! Archos, if you put out a device for 300-350 of this size, with a storage capacity of 64 gigs, people will flock to it. Seriously, we need that much space! Microsd card expansion is great and all, but we NEED internal as well! Please, PLEASE PLEASE! Make this dream device of mine!Just take the 32, take away the useless volume buttons on the front, and add these things I have said. It will then be the perfect iPod touch killer!
889great support for a good device thank you and please push 3.0 i would buy 2more archos tablets!
888Another issue is with the on-screen keys and some apps/games that doesn't work with them (ie MiniSquadron and Glow Hockey).
886Please include increasing storage (/data parition). 300MB is not enough, even if App2SD is supported, but esp. when 64MB swap takes from that.
885USB host has stopped working for many (I am lucky so far) - Archos needs to address this. Related to prior, and in general, Archos Customer Support (phone) is AWFUL, from what I hear. They are not technically competent and should not pretend they are. They should take down the info and report it to the techies. Of course, technically competent Support staff would be a big plus. Also, promised supervisor callbacks do not appear to be happening.
881I have 101 tablet. I also have HTC HD2 running Android. At the moment Archos "feels" like a big phone, which is a wrong approach - e.g. calender should be different (more space is available), Another issue is the missing Google's market, the ArcApps does not solve the issue, since not every app is visible.
880I am very satisfied with the device, it tops my expectations even with Eclair.
874Archos, you guys have done some very good things. The battery life on my A70 is phenomenal for example. But more important than getting everything right, is PRIORITIZING what your customers need. 1. There is no 3G on any of the Gen8, so Bluetooth tethering is absolutely CRITICAL. I have had my A70 for over a month and I still cannot successfully tether it to my Android 2.2 phone (which is absolutely capable of tethering). That is a shame. An Android tablet should be able to tether to an Android phone like brother and sister. If Bluetooth is too difficult to get done now, at least add support for Ad-hoc WiFi. I need SOME way to tether my tablet to my phone. Please. 2. After tethering, your next priority (as in working on it right now) has to be getting Honeycomb pushed to the Gen 8. I know it will be a few months maybe, but please don't make us wait 8-10 months after other devices have it like some manufacturers do. After you do those things, then you can focus on the rest of the stuff: 3. Increase RAM, yes even if you have to change your file system or whatever. 4. Allow charging via USB. 5. People have been begging for this since we got our hands on Gen8. Please, please, please create a system option to hide the on-screen buttons (back, menu, home, search) in certain situations. It throws off alignment on the homescreen and isn't very useful in the video player either. Thank you for making a very good affordable tablet.
867The biggest issue for me is the time it takes browser to load page. Opera Mobile loads in seconds, while with builtin it may take a minutes.
865The Archos 70 is a really cool device, but please add the funktion to remove the soft-buttons on the right, because some games can't be played!!!
863overall the 101 is a good device I will be interested in it's succesor
859Gen8 tablets are great devices. And thanks for the hard work of supporting customers with firmware updates :-)
857Build quality and builtin leg stand has to be improved. The same and for case.
850I would love to see my 101IT become rejuvenated a snapier and more responsive with a firmware upgrade.
849Make possible an update to newer version of android please! It's very important!
842Need to increase the amount of application storage. 256meg is not even close to enough. At least 512meg of RAM would also be very nice.
838I have a A101IT since xmas and i'm pretty happy with it. Because of I'm a linux user, I don't have any problems with consoles etc, so it would be cool to let us install console programs (e.g. FUSE drivers like sshfs or the ftpfs by curl). One of the really awesome things is the fact, that the device supports almost anything of video codecs, THAT is what consumers want (So they don't need to reencode everything) and a big plus compared to eg apple devices (which i hate). I'm also pretty happy that you let advanced users install their own os'es or modified android versions via SDE. THIS IS GREAT and pretty unique. But an integrated GPS receiver would have been nice, and the wires of the power plug and the usb cable are a bit short, it'd have been better if you had increased the length of each cable by 20-30cm.
836Would like to buy an Android device but waiting for Android 3
832Sell screens to replace broken ones
830Overall great product in terms of price and power. Feature Support is a bit disappointing: - USB Host mode is too weak powered, 1 of 4 USB Sticks work, thats a bit ridicoulous - Tethering compatibility isnt so great, especially Blackberry-Support should be integrated because its simple to program, all infos to correct these have been posted on forums.archosfans.com already
828Actually I have problems with the tethering. Many times it didn't connect. If it shows that the connection is good, I can not call any Internetpage. That is really bad
824Archos's devices could be really really great but the problems of stability, the small bugs and the wait (1month) for a "big" release instead of quicker releases of small fixes disappoint. Nevertheless,I'm really happy with my A101it, it's a pretty beast and has great features for a good price.
817The Archos 101 is a very nice tablet....with the best price at the moment....with the update to Honeycomb it will be the best tablet ever.
816It would be very nice to give an Update to Android 3.0
812root without a app
808HTTP Proxy support- Very important
806I like my Archos 70 but have 2 main complains, the lcd screen view angle is poor and it has not enough ram :-/ ... (512Mb would be great for this kind of device)
801Thank you very much for your quick updates, I have never experienced this with any other provider. Better Flash-Support and recharge via usb would be the only issues I have currently. I'm very happy with the device.
800Another nice feature which would win you over in the hearts of the masses...allow root access for those who want it so we dont have to hack it.
798For my usage patterns two issues have surfaced as major pain points: 1. Bluetooth tether stability. Often takes two tries to start, but far more aggrivating is that it fails to shut down properly forcing a reboot next time I need to use it. 2. Mediascanner. It sucks all the performance out of the system and runs forever at reboot (see above) and any time the file system is touched. I spend 2.5hrs on the train every day so am constantly running into these issues. I do development (web, but my focus is all mobile right now for a rather big player worldwide in online travel) so use the media side of the device less.
795Priority No1. should be, to make a working Flash plugin for the stock browser. The Flash Plugin from the marked is a pita. Besides from that i want to tell u: I own a 70it and a10it and i am very happy with them. They are in everyday use for Internet-radio, Google Services, Calendar, Mail, Reader and Internet surfing. Thank u for making such good devices for that small price!
793I'm very happy with my 101 8GB! Hope we will get Android 3.0!!
791Please keep releasing a huge firmware update every 1-2 months - you guys are GREAT ! Nice Firmware-Update-Strategy
789You need to deliver what you promised... where is flash plug in? Need to be trimmed, to many freezes and I am running it really smoothly. Lot of problems with files disappearing from 32G card. Bought cinema plug in but sometimes doesn't work properly. Definitely needs Google market. Could be a smashing equipment if you care with customer a bit more. I love it and hate it depending on times and behavior. WiFi receptor not as good as installed in HTC Desire. My HTC works faster than my Archos. Needs also some trimming with contacts sync with computer, really poor. Thanks for listening Regards, Rui
787The standard keyboard on the 43 is bloody awful. Other keyboards are just bad. Pressing letter A can also get the letter I to register as well. Bad resistive touchscreen or bad software?
785Please please, Android 3.0 on the gen8 !!!
783Please give better support! Having problems from the beginning with removing or replacing items on the screens. I can't use the tablet the way I want to! daisysmissaert@hotmail.com
781I have been impressed with my 101 16gb. With some small improvements it would be a market leader.
775It would be GREAT to have Honeycomb on 101!!! Please even think about it ;) Best regards GMK from Czech republic
774Overall I'm very pleased with my A70IT. It's good value for money and Archos does it's best to keep it updated. Disappointed about the bad function of USB host that doesn't work as promised.
772You must improve the screen! I'm very unsatisfied with my 4.3 . The screen is hard to use without a nail (this is not the case for my 3.2). I'm sorry to say that but if you did not improve the screen (I can pay more, I just want quality!), I will probably switch to cowon (D3) or samsung (Galaxy Player). You could also improve the communication with your customer. Publish known bug (bugtracker on archos.com?), some roadmap...
740Archos should get Google Cert.
736Byev
734Love the 43, hope that honeycomb will run on it. GPS and more memory would be amazing. It's fairly stable at the moment.
72370it runs very well. Good compromise price/speed/weight. It would be perfect with better screen and may be more 4/3 format for reading.
722The biggest issue for me right now is the audio library - needs better tag supprt and crucially needs to support more than 20,000 audio files on the 250Gb model. You can email me on archos@eleusis.co.uk if you are interested in more details on this issue.
720installing the google market and apps slowed the 43 down so much i reinitialised the device and run it with stock apslib. Shame but it was just very unresposive after using arctools to install the V4 apk file. hope you can get around this in future releases. great site tho!
714Some questions are out of date due to the 2.0.71 firmware update.
689Well, i need this to not freeze as much come with google market. It almost feels like a rush job with you guys i like my tablet it is obvious room for improvement
669i like my archos, i think its great to have a nice featured internet tablet for this price
668Pls fine tune the system to improve the speed with the current config.. The config. that 70/101 used should have better performance, not that one with the current firmware. Also, the apps compatibility should be improve as some apps cannot handle the high screen resolution.
666I'm from Sweden. The most important thing would be to be able to use SVTplay, the swedish televisions program for watching their archive. It is on Google Market but it's not available för my Archos70IT.
658Awesome product with a few minor issues.
650PLEASE someone make something other than leather cases for the 101, have been looking everywhere for a hardcase or outterbox or body glove type...or even a decent silicone one. Thats my only complaint...happy w/device
647Stability is a must. I've had to recover/reformat my device twice. Just today in fact was the most recent time. I had been using an app and the battery ran out, causing it to shut itself down. After charging I couldn't get it to startup again. It would sit on the Archos logo. A fast startup would also be good. Finally, higher resolution screen is needed. This will be very obvious in the coming generation of devices.
635Very very important to "force" Archos to keep on developing more firmwares with the inputs of the community. And of course HONEYCOMB update!!!!!!!!! Regards
631The Archos, or rather newer Archos models should include atlease 512 MB of ram or possibly 1gb of ram which would make the device run much smoother. 256 MB of ram is, well, rubbish! A better camera, at least 3.2 megapixel, OR a front facing 1.3 megapixel camera for video chat and a back facing camera at 3.2 megapixel for photos and video recording, this would be PERFECT! Finally, a faster processor, clocked at 1.2 Ghz, this would make the perfect tablet. Thanks.
569My wife and I love our new 101s - we got them for each other for Christmas. We love them so much in fact that we just ran out an got an. Archos 70 for her mom and are about to buy another for our son. CES however hasgiven us pause.Your new 101 home's specs and pricepoint looks like a slap in the face to all of us that waited and stood in long lines and suffered thru backorders to get our hands on a Gen8 device. Only to to feel screwed by this announcement. You must address these Valid issues listed in this survey but most importantly update the Archos site and show us how our $350 Archos 101 IT has not been made obsolete by a device almost half it's price.
566in the current 2.21 (0.71), the wifi is still very unstable (my router: TP-link 941ND), the applib "freeze" frequently. Google account not a/v yet. Lags. Some programs can't run. Really hope that upgrade will be available soon to fix all the issue. I expected quite a lot when I bought this product instead of ipad!
565A shame that wifi doesn't work out of the box on ångström...
546overall, i love this device! but there is some room for improvement to make this device better..
544long life to Archos !! to beat Ipad : - improve the multitask which slow down the tablet - better commercial communication - select easy for APP for making the tablet easy tu use for Mr Dupont or Smith - improve the very slow Picture appli (QuickPic is less exiting but far more rapid !!) lbourdiec@gmail.com
521+hard cases for them?
463A lot of apps freezes and I end up having to reboot. Not sure if it's froyo's fault, or the apps, or the tablet...
338good product, but sometimes some problems occure.
311Improve the screen on the 101!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
257I score my A70IT 8/10 for it's price and simply I want 10/10.
122fix the loss of aps
120Fix USB in .71
116Thanks for the survey. What is hoped for by the results?
113Problem with the usb port that did not fix with firmware upgrade.
107I really wish it had the mag and gps. Thiscould have been the best tablet devicewith alil tweaking
106Better support for higher bitrate/more reference frame videos. This was a major selling point for me but I was disappointed when only half of my actual files would play correctly.
105Support ad hoc wifi
104Communications between Archos and their customers is usually one way. They don't care about our opinions, wishes, etc. Anyway , is my 4th. Archos device in five years. But it's because there is no other tablet with 250GB or more
101fully functionnal samba and upnp streaming
99We wish we can have a permanent root on this device.
97The Archos 70 is a breakthrough device. Archos is ahead of the competition right now, but they will need to innovate quickly if they want to stay in the lead. Being among the first to offer all future Android updates is one way to stay in the lead.
91archos 101, I'm found of it... since the last update. thanks archos
90Bring back auto-brightness for firmware 2.0.71
84Excellent product. Just needs fine-tuning.
82Archos 101 is really good in comparison to other available in market but they need to spend more time on software development. Apple Ipad on the other hand is robust and no problem equipment. Archos should invest same skills to make there product similar and make customer happy.
77Would love to have options while connected via HDMI to display on both units or to either one individually. Would make presentations much easier so that you don't have to view the screen while presenting.
76Improve boot options with BOOT ON USB DEVICES. It's good to boot on a USB live linux distribution.
63Great product, but you need to work very hard to fix the most serious issue in the froyo update. And please never decrease the CPU performance.
55The capacitive touch really works bad (different sensitivity depending on position), does the higher price actually pay off in relationship to a resistive touch. A wall mount would be great (perhaps with some kind of power dock) to use it as home automation terminal / picture frame ... First delivery of 101 should have been 8GB version, 16GB was too expensive without real benefit and brought the archos closer to iPad (too close for quality difference in terms of display angle and touch screen quality=
49better battery management and better multi touch and the product would be better than ipod touch
44Incredible device at a great price. The issues are really minor with easy work-arounds in most cases.
36Verybad Screen angle, bad update 2.2.1, wifi problems, tether problems... so angry...
34Fix my A70 - it is USELESS since I updated to 2.2 - only wish I had never done that and stayed with previous FW...an angry archos customer.
29In my opinion most disturbing thing of the update to 2.2 is when apps are not in the internal memory, that means when apps2sd is used. I think the 8GB flash memory is too slow for that!!
24I buy the Archos 70 to use it. Not for leeve on the desk!
7sort this and FAST!
