One thing apart from the fantastic screen and resolution is the front facing speakers. What a different experience to side facing speakers that get covered with the hands. The sound just reaches your ears the way it should.

I have used headphones and that works well too. No scientific tests, but it sounds good. No problem here.

Let me go check bluetooth. No problems with skype or twitch or youtube. More tomorrow.

Hi Everyone,

I bought 2 onda V973 a month ago: I updated both to 4.2.2 and then to kasty 4.2.2 release.

One is running quite well, the other one is frequenly stopping, stalling: the strange thing I've never experienced before with a mobile device is that it doens't crash and reboot but the screen remains still and if I don't turn it off, it remains there till the battery charge runs out.

Is there anyone else having the same problem? is that something I could do or just sending back to Onda?

Maybe try to flash again, the custom firmware and the stock firmware firmware from the manufacturer to see if there problem is still there.

Wow..!!!

I must say.. Installing this new firmware.. It is like having a brand new tablet..!!! Now it is actually reponsing to commands.. and not crashing after 5 min of use..

However I knew it was a matter of time before this memory leak was solved.. And thank God it was.. Or.. thank the dev. that figured this out

Now we just need to get HD mode to run smooth.. Sure it will soon.. but yes... this new firmware was like getting a brand new device.. once again thank you for all your work on these tablets

I have many troubles to power offf my device when my µSD card is plugged (maybe it is corrupted).

See this recent thread about the same thing on my V813. I got it working by trimming back the plastic at the cable end and also the curved side of the tablet where the cable goes in.

Did anyone try to Share the GPS of itsd phone with the Cube via Bluetooth?

I would like to use the GPS of my Galaxy Note to send through Bluetooth the NMEA coordinates to my Cube with Sygic.

The Soft Share GPS or other on the web doesn't work for me.

So my HDMI cable arrived today so I hooked up the tablet to the TV and... nothing happened :( I looked in settings but I don't see anything about displaying on TV.

Yep.

My theory is it relates to the WLAN connection in some way. If I use the tablet after a sleep mode it is incredibly sluggish. Downloads take forever.

I was able to display everything as 16:9 on the previous firmware V972Core4_v1.35, only since I've upgraded to the latest one I can't view anything in 16:9 even when using 4K Player or any other Video player.

I just thought maybe there is a settings to change that resolution somehow.

First of all, the screen resolution is 2048 x 1536, which is the good old 4x3 aspect ratio, not 16x10. I am using v3.0 and 4K Player gives me perfect 16x9 Full HD display via HDMI. On the Setting > Display > Screen adaption you can turn it on or off. I have it turned on but not sure if that has anything to do with it.

Hi, flashing roms is straight forward i tried alot since i got tablet, guess wireless depends what router you have as there are many out there, its frustrating as all the older roms the wireless worked fine on same router, will have to try archos player to see if mkv are any smoother, Thanks

Everything OK, CWM too finally (my fault, of course). Antutu stops to 15100.

So, Gallery doesn't show Picasa albums, in 4.1.1 v1.05 it did.., I installed an app by the market, Cool 3D Gallery, that does the job.

after 6 months of use the dodgy charger sent with my u23gt seems to of packed up and will not charge the tablet. Im looking for a replacement but can only find ones from china which i guess is the same quality of the original.

I had to buy a new charger for my u30gt which was an english style plug and better build quality. Any ideas?

is there a charger that will charge both the u23gt and the u30gt?

I just got my x2 today. Works great. Very nice feel and size. Like it better than my cube u30gt2 so far.

I have updated the pad from 1.08 to 1.09 already. Feels smooth and fast. Very nice screen. More later after more experience.

Definately worth the $200 I paid for it. Even got free dhl shipping right to my door. Kids are using my u30gt2 now.

Hi, is there a possibility that my tablet Ifive x2 will get hard brick when I flash firmware? If so is there any guide to revert back to stock firmware? Will this custom firmware speed up the tablet or prolonged its battery life?

Rom is ok, Tablet UI ok, CWM ok. Rom looks fine. But ANTUTU Score are very bad at 14000 pints. With 4.1.1 / 1.5 Rom 16-17000.

If it is happening only in case of my tablet then I am sorry for my negative opinion. Nevertheless I was flashing my device with all your three succesive custom roms and always had big problems with restarting of system. Usually you can hear a click after few seconds of pushing the power button then you can see cube factory logo. Now the system should be loaded but it is not. You get only black screen and nothing more. After that you can wait forever and nothing happens. Anyway if you left your tablet for few hours turned off then it starts normally. I have no idea why it happens. When I was using your previous rom it was only first reboot with problems. Second and following restarts were going smoothly. In case of your last rom I was not able to restart it at all. After initial sound of click there was nothing on the screen.

You cant see fullscreen desktop pf a tablet on a 16:9 screen tv,tablet has 16:10 ratio if Im not wrong.

But!

You can watch movies and other videomaterial thru 4k player. Just conect hdmi to the tv and start some video,it will be in fullscreen on a tv and you can still do other stuff on a tablet display at the same time:)

also could you get perfect smooth play playing MKV files like i get on sony tablet z ? and now flash within browser doesnt work at all just sound, need to play in normal screen and zoom , older rom flash worked on full screen but it was not smooth, all these releases they doing doesnt seem to make this any better, probably worse

Hi I've just connected my v972 V1 to a TV and it's not filling the whole screen anymore. It looks like it can't display as widescreen, so it displays in the middle with black borders around.

BTW, I could't install the CWM. I followed the instructions, got no errors, but when I reboot in recovery mode, I get the robo with the open red heart..

thanks for ur replay. I am using the usb that came with the tablet and also i following the same guide, even watched the video and i repeated all stepa more than 10 times with different options usb debugging off and on. Is PhoenixSuite 1.0.5 the older version can flash this tablet , it may be something wrong with it ? And do i have to turn on the usb debugging ?

EDIT: Okay, i tried everything from begging but on my laptop instead of the desktop i've used before and it worked from the first time. I believe there was a problem with the installed driver on my desktop.

I experienced the same thing. My Cube tablet cannot detect my bluetooth receiver but has no problems connecting to my smartphone or pc. Not sure if it is a problem with bluetooth version.

While tablet is powered OFF

Hold Home button,

while holding home, insert USB cable (which already connected to PC)

then while still holding home button, repeatedly press Power button 10times, with 0.5 second interval between press..

then it shold be detected.

try again.

Hi, tried this latest release, and now the tablet doesn't connect to my router , just keeps initiating , changed settings in router and tried all channels, still same, this is getting frustrating, think best firmware is 4.1.1 1.05 and its battery life is better on that,

also not perfect smooth playing mkv files, im thinking of selling this now, and just getting a branded tablet like the sony tablet z , keeps getting new updates but i aint noticing anything getting fixed , well not face value

there is no such thing as kernel.img, there is only boot.img which may contain a zimage which is the actual kernel.

Well to give you an answer from the experience i have with chineese tablets that they all do this wierd thing with their screens when the power adaptor is connected.

I have 3 different brands of chineese tablets here at home and they all do this.

This is probably a long shot - but if you have CWM recovery, you can try rebooting into CWM, and clean the cache and dalvik cache.

We don't have a github at the moment and most of our modifications are done at the system/binary level, no source code involved.

Kernel wise, tablets based on Rockchip RK3066 are running on 3.0.8 because the manufacturer has only been deploying that one so far. There is some 3.0.8 kernel source code published for Rockchip devices, also the great guys from [[** please [[** please register to see this link **]] to see this link **]] have a homebrew kernel for the U30GT:

Hi admin, Is this work-in-progress somewhere in github? Maybe I can give a hand and provide some changes. I want to make the cube more reliable as it is quite slow even after thorough cleaning and de-bloating. Another question is, why is kernerl 3.0.8 in use instead of 3.4.0 (which should be default of Android 4.1)

As was mentionned times ago by someone the 4.2.2 doesn't offers adhoc network access.

I have a V813 device and want to connect it to some devices that offers adhoc networks.

I tried a lot of wpa_supplicant files that never works. There is something that I missed thinking that it is sufficient to fix this issue.

Does anybody can help me (us) to bring a solution to fix this issue. I am eventually available to do some works, compilations for example, if I am guided by an expert of this forum.

Hi, I flashed my tablet, and I now get a blank screen. It lights up, the computer recognizes it, and I can hear some sounds. I can also touch it and hear sounds, but it doesn't display anything. Hello,
I have two cube u30gt2 tablets and have a problem with one of them with bluetooth.
one of the two tablets can not find my av receiver (Pioneer VSX-827) with bluetooth module (Pioneer AS-BT200), but the other tablet has no problems with it.
both tablets finds other devices without problems, for example my smartphone or the other cube tablet.
Both tablets are identical with android 4.2.2 v2.03
Here are the serial numbers of the two tablets:
tablet A => u30gt2w32gbw13120191851 (tablet with problems)
tablet B => u30gt2w32gbw13172670597 (the tablet without problems)
also tablet A can't find a PlayStation 3 Controller with the sixaxis controller app by bluetooth, but tablet B works fine.
I hope you can help me?

Flashing with Restore will fully erase the tablet internal storage. Normally the flash process and the formatting process that follows (from the recovery system) do not touch the external sdcard, but it's usually safer to remove the sdcard before flashing.

You should be fine with backup/restoring your apps using Titanium backup, even between different firmware versions. Most Google apps like Gmail, Calendar, Maps, etc store data on the cloud, so it shouldn't be much use to to include them in the backup.

As for the upgrade, it's really your decision, I have no idea if Cube will continue to update their firmware and I can't give any date for my next custom firmware build.

Ok, its just that on the download page for 1.5, it says download update 1.7, but if it doesn't improve anything, reliability wise, then using 1.5 should be fine.

So the restore button will erase everything on internal and external sd card? or just internal, so one would need to re-install all apps?

if its just internal, then since you're updating the same FW 1.11, then something like Ti backup should restore everything internal fine? But for the major update, backup/restore to different FW with TiB isn't recommended?

And since I'm already on 1.11, should I update to the latest upload, or wait for the major update, is it long away?

One the V972, I think that the HDMI connector is a mini HDMI (type C) not micro HDMI.

Just make sure you get the right connector for your device.

Apart from that, it's quite plug&play, put the cable in and you should see your tablet screen mirroring on the TV.

I would like mirror my Ondas screen onto a HDTV using the micro HDMI slot and I have a couple of questions about this, Do I need a special micro HDMI lead/adaptor or will any do?

Also do I need an app or something to achieve this or is it plug a play?

Rockchip Batch Tool was designed for RK3066 based tablets such as the Cube U30GT models, but version 1.6 or 1.7 should work fine for flashing as well. We always recommend to use Restore button to make sure the tablet gets properly erased before flashing.

As for the custom firmware, there are plans for a major update at the moment, but I'll surely rebuild the custom firmware if Cube ever comes with an update on their device.

Just a follow up on the question I asked in the 1.01 FW thread, since this is the last official fw for the GT-H.

Is this ROM, v1.11, always being updated here, even if cube don't release anything?

There is the rockchip tool v1.7 out, is this to be used, or 1.5 as mentioned here?

I've always used the wipe option in the tool, and many people long ago were mentioning problems with the upgrade option and all their apps and sdcard data remaining. Is this fixed and solid in the tool v1.7?

I used toor cleaner to reset the Battery statistic but after a reebot i still have in the new battery statictic a red line corresponding to phone....

How to be sure that it works....

Using arctool many i failed many time in installing the patch error 28 and then 20 (can not create a temporary directotry)....

One time i clicked on install apps while there is nothing in the tab above

=> it installed some apps...

What are the default patch installed?

The new battery has arrived. It's not a direct replacement BUT it is a better arrangement as it's made up of two 3.7V 8000mAH cells in series and so avoids the need to balance the charge between two 7.4V batteries in parallel.

That is the arrangement in the U30GT2 and there was no attempt to balance the charging and my guess is that is what killed one of the cells.

After fitting and charging I ran an Antutu battery test and the results where brilliant. The test lasted 5 hours and there was still about 30% charge left. The tablet came 2nd in the results league with a score of 747 which was a huge improvement on the 117 it scored with the faulty cell.

All in all very pleased.

On a side note, McBub offered to send me a replacement battery IF I paid for it AND shipping. Not impressed as they specified a 12 month guarantee for parts.
