When I click the link to open the Pipo P9 thread ( [ ROM ] Pipo P9 (RK3288 tablet) 4.4.4 custom root firmware Oma build v1.5 - kernel #138) always opens this one.

I have tried with IE, Firefox and Opera.

Is there something I can do?

Thank you fldc.

I get resource_tool and extract without problem.

I made and replace logo with my 892 x 324 x 8b image.

For repack, your command work fine.

But It's not sufficient. Pipo logo continue to display at boot.

I see that resource file contain resource files, that contain resources file, etc..

So I loose some hours to extract/replace/repack in each level, but without success.

Probably image is embedded at another place.

Some idea !

Regards,

Christian

And the image format is bmp3? Also make sure you're naming it correctly, I know it usually contains some unused images, I may have said the wrong file name, I don't remember really. But changing the logo in resource.img has never failed me. :)

The link you mentioned was made as a "convenience" for readers in the "Pipo P tablets" section of our forum. It actually redirects to this topic as you noticed, which also offers a Pipo P9 kernel.

As Oma explain in the post #1 of the topic,

Build will work on other rk32boards:
(just change the kernel and resource in folder rockdev/Images)

Hopefully this is more clear now Wink

If you want to follow custom firmwares updates, it's currently best to look in the RK3288 forum section which is updated more often that the links posted in the "Pipo P tablets" section of the forum.

Cheers.

For image format I use Irfanview on Windows and reduce to 256 colors before saving as BMP. Image size (byte) is exactly the same than Pipo. Which software do you use to save as BMP 3.x ?

I also try to remove what is seem unnecessary in resource.img. So I live :

- images (directory that contain battery charging animation)

- charge_anim_desc.txt

- logo.bmp (mine)

- rk-kernel.dtb

That's all. So resource.img size decrease from 15.8 MB to 498 kB !

I flash it and result is the same. Boot normally with pipo logo !

Just for information, since the beginning, my P9 is always on when charging. If I try do shutdown it always reboot. If I shutdown before charging, it boot when I connect charger. So I never see battery animation, like other android device, when charging in shutdown mode.

Design intend on these tabs is "always on", you can only shut off when there is no cable plugged. So this is not a kernel issue, it is a kernel feature ;-)

Thank you Oma,

So the more I see is except rk-kernel.dtb (and I'm not sure) resource.img contain only unnecessary files !

I expand your resource.img from first page (#192), and see that you also remove lot of unnecessary file, but you leave original logo. Have you try to change it with success ?

woops sorry, this was just a case of poor lighting. Tested it one morning outdoors, it was fine.

Btw, saw a P4r in the firmware page of Pipo.cn, anyone knows what that is? Are there two versions of P4?

Thanks...

Pipo P4

Boots at 15secs, after fresh install of this rom, 10secs at stock rom.
Bootup more than 50secs with all needed apps installed.
Antutu Scores at almost 35K (rom fresh installed and done after first reboot, no apps installed, wifi off).
Battery performance is superb, except for the first 5% after full charge, it will drain fast as this can't charge in an off state.
Build quality, no complaint on this one except for the cheap design on its front, back is just sexy.
Wifi is stable, but like the M series, its kinda weak. So instead of modding the tab, I modded the wifi antenna(router) to further its signal range.
Speakers, it feels like its the same as the M7pro's and M9pro's, Viper pre-installed helped a lot in the speakers performance. Not that good, but not too weak.
Fluidity, superb! This is a dream come true for someone who came to experience the M9pro.
Plastic Clip cover for the multimedia ports, what the hell were they thinking? If you have the original case, you can just remove the cover and it will be covered safely, but it will be the prime entry for dust. That Plastic clip will some day break.

2gig Ram, can anybody here confirm its specific spec? Is it just a DDR3 dual channel or is the latest LP DDR2? Can't find the answer from the net.

Almost forgot to mention this, this has the sleep of death, had this 3x already but the intervals are quite long.

Btw, what does the #613 in the Kernel version mean?

Thanks Oma for the rom! :D

I have tried some other roms, this rom wins in terms of the speaker performance, and rom stability. Fixed the batt issue (I think) by using batt calibrator app.

I really do hope that Pipo releases a new and unlocked kernel. Currently, the kernel is locked on 1.6 cpu speed.
