No one has comments here about this ROM?
Hopefully I will be testing this ROM soon... I'm just waiting on shipping! Â So excited!
I will say thanks in advance to oma, and I will report back with some real feedback ASAP!
I'd love to see an Android 5.0+ release for this device. Â If there is anything I could do to help out with that, I would be very glad to do so (testing, changes in code, configuration, anything!)
Thanks again in advance.
Cheers,
-SB

Sure.
I was already planning to dump the full firmware before I started flashing other ROMs. Â I've not done that before and learned the hard way that I should always dump the full stock ROM first.
I will let you know anything you wish about the original ROM. Â I can upload and provide a link if u need.
Â
Cheers,

Does this ROM also support the WCDMA version of the M9S? Â I'm not sure if I will be receiving that one or not. Â The photos which were used for the included items shows a SIM pin and the pic of the box shows that there is a WCDMA option. Â I have seen the same pics used by other sellers in other listings, though.
Â
If not, or even if the WCDMA version is supported, I'm not sure that the band is supported here in the U.S..  Do you know if the really cheap, generic MSM6280 based WCDMA/GSM USB 3G adapters commonly found on eBay would be compatible?  They look like Huawei clones and can be as little as ~10 USD.
Â
Thanks again, and cheers!

The tab does not have a SIM card slot. As for a dongle see here: http://www.pipo.cn/En/index.php?m=Contact&a=index&id=263&type=3

I finally got it! It did come with a SIM pin, and the box does say that built-in 3G WCDMA is an available option. No SIM slot, however, but I have seen it in a video review on YouTube which was in another language than English.
Â
Kernel version 3.10.0 #223. Dec, 16 2014
Build rk3288-eng 4.4.2 KOT49H eng.root.20141219.153818 test-keys
Would you like any more info about the stock ROM before I flash your ROM?
Â
How close is this tablet to other rk3288 tabs? Are there any other tabs which are close enough that I could play with the ROM of another tablet (maybe with your kernel) on this tablet? Or possibly modify the resolution of a ROM for another tablet so that it would match the M9S screen?
Thanks and cheers! Might be a few hours before I get to try your ROM, but I'm looking forward to it.

I have another question about the 3G dongles. All of the models listed on the pipo site are EVDO or WCDMA. I know that pipo partners with a Chinese CDMA carrier, that's why the built-in WCDMA models exist. Maybe why all models listed are CDMA based, too?
Do models listed such as Huawei e1750, which support GSM/EDGE/GPRS work in those modes also, or only in WCDMA/EVDO modes (as listed on the pipo site)?
What I want is HSDPA+ really (on GSM bands). Are there custom kernels available? If so, do any of them add any extra modem modules which can be loaded?
Thanks again, and cheers!  -SB

Sorry if it seems like I'm spamming the thread. There isn't a whole lot of info out about the M9S out there and I just got my tablet!
Would it be OK to use this ROM, but to flash the kernel #233 found here? RileyROM 1.0
The linked to ROM above says it is based on Pipo fw dated 2/3/15. However, I can't seem to find a fw for the M9S with that date. I like the features of your ROM, so I would prefer to use that, but if there is a newer kernel out I'm thinking maybe I should use that.h
If I did use that kernel, should I also use the resource.img from the other ROM?
Â
Different topic (somewhat):
I dumped my stock ROM and noticed this in the parameter file "MACHINE_MODEL:P1". Does this mean that most of the M9S is likely to share the majority of the same hardware as the P1? It would be pretty cool if I could use the ROMs for the P1 (and related), and I only needed to switch the kernel/resource and maybe change the resolution or the dpi to get it working.
Would the 4.4.4 ROMs here work with the #224 kernel (yours) or possibly the #233 kernel from the other ROM?
Thanks and cheers!

Kernel #224 preempt 14 Jan 2015 is the latest one. However, I guess the tab is also stable with kernel #223.
The kernel and it's database (resource.img) is one unit. Do not mix up.
As for the stick, chips with the id's listed in the attached file should work. However, at the end of the day it has to be verified by a users feedback.

Ah, ok! That's quite a few more devices than I was afraid would be supported.
I saw that folder (usb_modeswitch.d) on the device but didn't investigate it that closely until you posted it.
I like the USB host controller app and the viper4Android fx for sure! I use the viper fx on my galaxy s4 and s5 as well.
I've been using the xposed framework with modules you included. Very nice! I let it all update and it's working great. Knock on wood, so far I haven't had a single glitch, crash, or problem!
Well, i did have one instance of Google crash. I logged into gmail first instead of the play store and Google play services crashed repeatedly until I updated it. Very minor issue.
Thanks for the cool ROM! I'm enjoying personalizing it very much(i always do!)
Cheers!   -SB
