Oma,

I still have not had any luck flashing a partition even going straight the rommask. I enter the rommask by pushing the rest button through the pinhole while holding down the +volume button. I am running Windows 7 on the PC and launching the AntroidTool with admin rights.

Most likely a driver issue. Use the included Driver Assistant. De-install driver first, then install again.

Done, No change. I have verified the rockusb.sys file in windows/system32/drivers matches the one included with the RKDriverInstaller.

Oma,

I can read the eMMC ID, info and the sectors with the Linux upgrade_tool. Still no luck with the with the lower format or writing anything. It fails the TestDevice command. I think that the eMMC is locked and I don't have enough info to get by this.

I have not been able to get to the maskrom no matter what combination of reset, volume up, volume down or power on combination I try. It always goes to loader mode. I think the loader may be a special version that won't let me write to the eMMC.

Dan EE said
I ran into a snag. It won't lower format the e-MMC. It just stays at 0%. It also reports "Device Test Start" and "Device Test Fail" If I try to flash a partition.

From the other thread ... is the tab still booting?

Yep, still boots. If I could brick it, it should go to the rom mask loader. It may need a signed update.zip to get a rom onto it. I could try to ground the recovery pin on p21 of the processor. This would take a bit of effort and would be impossible if there's no via to scrape and mag wire to.

Done that, same result. After looking at the firefly wiki, they actually ground the eMMC clock to force it into maskrom.

One step back. Pls check the usb driver: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/usb_devices_view.html

Flash driver is: VID_2207&PID_320A

I can't get to the website now. The VID=2207,PID=320A in device manager and Linux when in bootloader. Matches .inf file for a 3288. I am at work now and I am pretty sure about the PID. It may be 310A? I tried using a bootable image of firefly 4.4. It hung which may be promising since it doesn't have the LCD driver. Maybe a bootable TWRP image?

Sorry, VID_2207&PID_320A is the correct one for RK3288.

I would like to know if the tab gives this ID in flash-loader modus (all cable plugged, Reset, then Power & Vol+) and if the ID gets lost while action in the flash tool.

I don't think it does. I would hear the Windows tone when it disconnects and reconnects. I will check it again tonight.
