I guess not...
Nobody dares, because it's not sure, that the kernel will boot and if you flash a faulty kernel, the mini4 is hardbricked. No options to recover it then 🙁

We have so much Mini 4 users and we're waiting so much for an Lollipop Build with better kernel than the one's that iFive is providing. 🙁

Test kernel for ifive Mini4: http://crewrktablets.arctablet.com/?wpfb_dl=2588

Change kernel and resource in folder rockdev/Image before flash.

Untestet ... so use on your own risk!

I am a bit cautious with testing the iFive Mini4 kernel on my iFive Air :). What if it does not boot?

Is this a relatively safe change and are those two kernels exactly the same?

I have found that NFC is reported as built-in with this 5.1.1 Android. Antutu reports I have NFC now, but as far ad I know, this tablet did not have NFC before? Is Antutu wrong? It also reports locations now, it did not support this with my 4.4.4 ROM that was installed before.

Ah and yes the WiFi bug is gone too, one can now set it to Only on while charging and the tablet reconnects fine after waking up. Great ROM :).

I have also noticed that the speed with the Android 5.1.1 is slow, especially when refreshing pages with Google Chrome. It also takes a lot of time to open programs and switch from the home screen to running programs. Is there something that could be done with the ROM? E.g. use the RK3288 with 1.8 GHz instead of only 1.6 GHz? Maybe Graphics Acceleration? Any ideas?

Besides those issues, it is a very fine tablet with good battery run time and great build quality. I am quite surprised that it did not manage to end up with more users. Everyone seems to buy Onda or Teclast and I have used their products also. Rubbish. Teclast with Intel is a Nightmare and does not offer anything modern (old WiFi, crippled factory tool) and the Onda was a tablet without anything to wish for too. Much happier with the iFive Air also because of it's excellent speaker and form factor.

The only real drawback on the iFive Air is the outdoor visibility, almost impossible in direct sunlight. Even with the brightest setting.

Ah one more thing, if it would be possible to change the Android 5.1.1 build to allow even lower screen brightness, that would be great. The screen is a bit too bright when used in dim locations (e.g. bedroom or living room with dimmed light).

NO. The Mini 4 test kernel is for the Mini 4 guys. It will NOT boot on the Air.

The included wifi chip (AP6330) does not have NFC support.

In my view the LP performance is a bit better then the KK one. However, this is subjective.

You may use tools like this to adjust brightness level.

Good news, the Lollipop 5.1.1 firmware is your best stagefright protection, my I five air is not vulnerable and fully protected. Thanks for the ROM☺

I found the the exfat didn't support, and cm12.1 work.

I didn't find the 'exfat' word on bin\vold from aosp 5.11 version.

Hi, I just find this rom and i applied Air LP rom with my Mini 4.(with Oma7144 said http://crewrktablets.arctablet.com/?wpfb_dl=2545 this Mini 4 kernel).

It is bootable both air and mini kernel but touch screen is not working. Even in the recovery.

I mean touch point is not correct. For example when i touch middle of the screen Mini4 recognize i touched bottom of the screen.

I don't have OTG cable right now but i think other features are all fine.

Nice to hear this!!

Maybe Oma can fix the Touchscreen Issues, it is good, that both kernels boots, so the SELinux is functional?

We're waiting for your feedback Oma! 🙂
