Is it possible (out of CWRM or out of the adb-shell) to switch between different ROMs?

As for instance I would like to install CM11, but have some modiefed, rooted 4.2.2 device. Isn't it just the system.img (and kernel) that has to be reflashed ?  boot.img, recovery.img can be kept imho. Not sure what's inside misc.img ?

What is your current status. What ROM do you have on device and what do you want to achieve?

i dont have any rom, i did couple of times factory reset, format boot, data and any other partition. i think i have somewhere here read that misc.img has something to do with cwm. but as of now, no any succes. i will try today at work computer, windows 7.

all my problems began after i was trying to put device on. the last time i used my tablet was 6 months ago without any problems. but in 6months time was my battery emtpy. so conncet the charger, leaving 2 hours charging while device off and then trying turn device on. and then got stucked at boot logo (a little circle running around). from this moment i got crazy about this device

how did you use the stock firmware version 1.02? just put the zip-file and run from CWM like INSTALL ZIP FROM SD-CARD command inside CWM?

or you unpacked the zip file and then used the IMG-file with rkbatchtool / rkandroidtool?

but now going back to your problem? do i understand good that your device is not recognized by rkandroidtool? or is your problem that you only see 1 line in the rkandroidtool-program? maybe your IMG-files are not in correct folder if you see only 1 line in rkandroidtool?

my problem is that rkandroidtool cannt recosnize my yarvik tab09-410. that is maybe because i cann't device into fastboot-mode?

1.02 was initial running. But I did never returned, because I just don't know how. I don't know what to do with this *.img file. I just think maybe it helps you, as img will be maybe flashed with another tool ?

Although my feeling was, that tablet runs faster with 1.02 (vs CM12), it is probably better to go back to 1.04. I guess the difference between 1.02 and 1.04 are improvements.

I would also like to test CM11 (as I like CM most).

To the rkandroid tool. I can see all lines if I start it as user. Only if I start as admin (as described somewhere) I see just this one line. Strange. But in both modes, It will not recognise it ("Found"). If I see this right the line is flickerung while booting, but it doesn't show that device is "found".  With one of 4 computers I have tried I get it, with the others not. Don't know why. Maybe because it is running and old WinXP. Win10 seems not to be supported, better try at least a Win7.

i think the v1.02-img file is an update.img. update.img is combination of all img-files (kernel, boot, recovery, system and maybe misc, too).  if you can make connection with rkandroidtool to your device and you have all required img-files, you can flash any firmware/rom to your device. i think it doesnt matter if your run rkandroidtool with or without admin  rights. and also swtiching between roms means flashing different img-files.

i tried also at my work on win7-64bit machine to make connection to my device with rkandroidtool. no luck. the tool cann't recognize my device. i think my problem is that i cann't put my device into usb-debug mode and as consequence of this also not in fastboot-mode.

but if you can put your device in fastboot-mode you can flash any img-file to your device.

You are right about the image file. But the only tool I know is rkandroid tool, and this doesn't handle image files.

Also I would like to be independent from the rkandroid tool, as it doesn't work at home (only at a friend).

I would like to change system and kernel from one version to another - either by CWRM or by adb. But I am not sure how to do this.

I would like to change system and kernel from one version to another - either by CWRM or by adb. But I am not sure how to do this.

first of all....MAKE A FULL BACKUP OF WORKING ROM/DEVICE via CWM.

put all IMG-files you want to use in the same folder where ADB.EXE and FASTBOOT.EXE  are.

go to CWM recovery. adb reboot fastboot <<== to get into fastboot mode.

fastboot device <<== to see if your device in fastboot-mode is. if you see waiting for device for more than 1 minute, then you  have the same problems as me, which means you cann't use and get into fastboot-mode. that means your are out of luck to flash any IMG-file via fastboot. your only option is then to use rkandroidtool (from RKDevelopTool_v1.37 folder). and even your device is not recognized and connected to rkandroidtool, then forget at all about flashing IMG-files. and this is exacly my situation right now. i dont have any succes with fastboot or with rkandroidtool.

i think my problem is because i cann't enable usb-debugging when there is no any rom at all inside the device.

fastboot-commands to flash IMG-file

fastboot flash kernel kernel.img

faastboot flash system system.img

this is what i see when i start rkandroidtool (from RKDevelopTool_v1.37 folder) while my device is connected to computer in CWM-mode

01.jpgImage Enlarger

be sure you are using kernel that is made for your device. let me know if this is helpfull for you

That looks like at my computer. Just the one WinXP can recognise the RK3188.

But if you don't have any firmware in it: I know it is possible to open the device and add some wires to recovery it again. I never even thought about it, but if it is just  a brick, so you can just win. I read about this in connection with a 2nd gen bootloader, addressing flash with different (faster) method. Maybe you find it or ask one of the devs. Please keep me updated in any case.

Here is another link to latest unmodified stock firmware:
