Hi guys, Im triyng to update this tablet.
It comes with 4.2.2 and it´s full of bugs sadly.
Im not sure which equivalent could be, only specs I have are:
Quad core 1.2ghz
Rockchip rk3188.
IPS 7,85 screen
Android 4.2.2
Kernel 3.0.36 liuzs@tchipserver2
Firmware version TR785V20_NOAT_ACT8846_RK616_GSL3680....
Compilation number: rk31sdk-eng 4.2.2 JDZ39 liuzs.20140227.143618 test-keys.
Any ideas what to try?
Thanks

Yes, I have stock 4.2.2, I´ll dump and upload in a moment if that will help.
Done, here it is http://www.mediafire.com/download/5t5iu3dijm79cjp/dump+mt-785ips.rar
Was dumped with Oma_RK3188_Root_and_Dump 😀 (with jb option)
Main problem is low app space and a bug that will not show apps moved to internal sdcard after a reboot. Only will stay if they are on external sdcard.
If I could increase the app space from 900mb to something like 2gb and solve the internal sdcard bug, I wont need an update.

Ok, found it in build.prop. MTK7601 wifi.
ro.build.display.id=rk31sdk-eng 4.2.2 JDQ39 liuzs.20140227.143618 test-keys
ro.product.model=MT-785 IPS
ro.tchip.device=tr785

ro.rk.wifichip=mt7601u
ro.tchip.version=(M_CN@140227)_N2.61_V422.01_TL12
To change the app space you need to flash a new partition layout. Are you ready for that?

well, thanks for all the effort 😀
Yes, wifi was disable as I did a factory reset before dumping rom. Great you find it 😀
Im pretty much ready!
Do you know something about the internal sdcard bug? All apps dissapear when I restart the tablet, space on internal sdcard isnt changed, so the apps are still there but wont show. On external sdcard they work fine (and on system app space too). Probably a 4.2.2 general bug? I´d read somewhere. Maybe changing the path of internal sdcard?
I´d downloaded your rom that comes with instructions, I guess the apps for flashing are the ones there.

I do not understand. Apps are installed on app space (internal storage). What do they do on internal or external sdcard?

Sorry, I dont speak english very well.
Will try my best 😀
When I moved an app to internal sdcard, to save some space on system app space, they work fine until I restart the tablet. After restart, apps shows as no installed.
Because of the low system app space problem, I´d tried a external sdcard and moved some apps there. And they stay after a restart.
So:
-Apps on system app space -> Works fine (but space is too low (900mb))
-Apps moved to internal sdcard -> Gone after restart
-Apps moved to external sdcard -> Works fine
I guess extending app space to 2gb will solve most space problems, but games that are 2gb or more, will be installed to internal sdcard and dissapear after restart? Probably. So, I will have to have always a external scard installed, in case some app decided to install there. Cause if it goes to internal sdcard, wont survive a restart.
Not sure if I expressed correctly.

Ok, app2sd or link2sd are not really stable things. A larger internal storage will help you.
Check out this build: http://www.arctablet.com/blog/forum/crewrktablets-rk3188-entwicklung-customroms-development-croms/rom-monster-tab-9-7-jb-4-2-2-custom-root-firmware-20150221/
Just change kernel in folder rockdev/Image: http://crewrktablets.arctablet.com/?wpfb_dl=2587
In CWM install this directly after the format_NAND fix: http://crewrktablets.arctablet.com/?wpfb_dl=2586

Thanks, I will read carefuly.
But, I´d moved apps to internal and external sdcard with android built in option in settings. Only a few apps can be moved, but they dissappear on internal sdcard.
Thanks again.
Edit. BTW, can I convert my dump into cwm file in case I have to go back to stock or it can be flashed as your firmware?

Im having some problems with this part
6. press power button and volume up button and hold for 12 sec
7. release the power button
8. release volume up button 2 sec after "Found ..." is shown
Found what should say? I only get found usb mode.
Tried holding both buttons with tablet on and usb connected. Tried with tablet off, usb connected. But no luck.

Well, did all you say, but now tablet is bootloping at mr tablet logo.
All went fine, no errors.
Any ideas?
I can enter to cwm holding vol - + power. Any way at least to flash my original rom from cwm?
Also I can start in flash mode.
But not sure how to restore stock firmware.
Thanks
Edit. Well, I´d managed to restore stock firmware replacing all the files on /rockdev with the ones from my dump. Not sure if I made right.
BTW, after restoring, my app space is 4gb instead of 900mb.
Any ideas of other rom to test or modding the stock one?

Yes, restoring the stock firmware with the new partiton layout (defined in parameter) is the way.
I guess the first time you did not execute eraseIDB.
