Oh, great to hear that. May I suggest you do a backup in CWM first 😉

To disable red frame warnings set:

ro.build.type=user
ro.build.user=root

Thanks again. I can't thank you enough for your help. I've been using Notepad++ all along and thought that might have corrupted my build.prop. I will do a backup and change that. This tablet has no reboot option which I find weird.

I just done a backup to SD Card in CWM.

I've done this but the I am still seeing the red border flash every once in a while and twice it was on the screen long enough to show that it also has the Hannspree boot screen on it and its kind of corrupting the screen. Maybe theres something I am missing. I'm going to have another look.

Ok, check this:

persist.sys.strictmode.visual=false
persist.sys.strictmode.disable=true

Let me also have some logs:

su
dmesg >/mnt/sdcard/dmesg.txt
logcat -d -v time >/mnt/sdcard/logcat.txt

To be able to do the logs, root the build first by installing SuperSU via CWM.

I have superSU installed and when I go to

adb shell
su
dmesg >/mnt/sdcard/dmesg.txt

it says operation not permitted. I will try through the tablet

I got it. I have it attached here.

Also I am curious but do you think any of your custom roms will work on this tablet? The stock rom is very limited in functionality. The kernel version is 3.0.36+

The backup can help out others who bricked their tab. Thanks a lot for sharing!

Unfortunaltely the stock kernel has selinux enabled which will prevent us doing a later Android build.

However, you can prettify the build using Xposed Framework: http://crewrktablets.arctablet.com/?wpfb_dl=2484

Thanks Oma. I thought it was possible to disable Selinus in the kernel. I have an Acer A500 here that came with Android 3.2.6 and it had SELinux enforced but the guys at Tegra Owners forum created Android 5.0.1 for it with SeLinux disabled in it. I would even be happy if it was possible to get CyanogenMod 11 onto the tablet if at all possible. But I do miss the Lolipop user interface on my Galaxy tab4 (I have Blisspop installed on that tablet) but this tablet is every bit as good as it just with a bigger screen.

Anyway I have a new problem with the tablet. I am only seeing 3.4GB storage in the tablet and the NAND storage refuses to mount for me.. With this happening some of my apps refused to install or work. Like Titanium backup will install but will not work. It starts and less than a second later crashes.

Ha, ha ... do you have kernel sources?

Do a factory reset.

I'm sorry but the only Kernel I have is the one that CWM backed up.Is it possible to do a CyanogenMod for this tablet though. Even if its Android 4.4.4? Or any other custom rom thats android 4.4.4. The tablet came from Hannspree with android 4.4.4 already installed.

I also tried a factory reset before posing but that didn't work. I feel very stupid though because all it needed was to go into settings and wipe the nand flash. So I done a CWM restore and the tablet is working perfect again. Its actually faster now than it was with from the factory.

That sucks because I was talking to a Hannspree rep and he said that they hae no intention upgrading it to anything higher than KitKat which is a 2014 OS an this tablet was only made this year.

Next time you want to buy an Android (phone/tablet) buy the ones with established brand name like Lenovo/ASUS/Onda/Huawei these are established brands with good support (not excellent) and at the same price or cheaper than  you bought your "Hannspree" (which we in Asia has never heard of the brand.) Like Lenovo it has a "upgrade path" road map on its web page so that you can decide the models to buy from KitKat to Lollipop maps."Penny wise pound foolish" must always remember that when purchasing these fast evolving technology parts. I buy newer models every 5-7 months and keep the old ones in my drawers.
