Hi. I'm from Brazil.

I bought and received my PipoU8 yesterday, it's beautiful.

But mine is having a problem and do not know if reinstalling the firmware will solve:

The touch screen of my PipoU8 is crazy, he is coming and pressing the keys alone. This happens from time to time, not always.

I believe it was a software problem, only happens once in a while, I think reinstalling the firmware should fix, no?

Problem 2: use windows 8, downloaded the installation program and Pipo has the Rockchip driver for w8, but I try to install and does not recognize, it simply says that the folder no drivers to install.

I do not know how I can fix you have any tips?

Well Joao,

About your touchscreen problem, it's hard to say, what you describe was already found on some devices with failing touchscreen (hardware problem)

Still, it can also be a software issue, installing latest firmware should help to find out.

About Rockchip drivers on Windows 8, you can have a look here:

Cheers.

Thanks.

I will try reinstall. But if it is hardware problem, I lost the money because is not worth sending the tablet to China here from Brazil. It is very expensive.

Tomorrow I go back and say if i got it.

hey joao, my u8 did the same thing until I updated the rom and it no longer has the phantom touch issue, but it now will boot every time I plug it in to either charger or usb, and if I have it plugged in and try to turn it off it boots right back up. Hopefully this issue wont affect yours, it's kind of annoying

I sent my PipoU8 today for technical assistance, near here. I think the problem is on the board. I even opened it, and realized it was internal problem. I had upgraded the firmware and the problem still remained, so I have more alternatives.
If the technical assistance does not resolve the problem, the tablet will go to waste.

Here in Brazil I not worth sending back to China, it is very expensive and has a lot of bureaucracy to export a product.

And my problem continues ...

I updated the firmware and still ghosts touches.

Some people told me that the problem may be grounded, but do not know how to check it, since I sent two technical assistance and not resolved.

I do not know what else to do ...

See the problem with my Pipo U8 in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cAQikwBPZXM

If anyone knows help me, thanks.

I received a tip from a person on the internet, so I decrease the sensitivity of the touch screen of my Pipo U8 to eliminate ghost touches.

I tried to install some applications that deal with the sensitivity of the touch screen, but the best apps ask for root access.

I wonder if this rom you have here in this topic, is the only official rom with root, without modifications?

We are building our custom firmwares based on the official one from the manufacturer. Our additions as listed in post #1 are mostly related to root and small optimizations, they should not interface with system stability.

Cheers.

Please, last question:

My laptop (windows 7) is with yellow exclamation saying: U8 without drivers (there in managing devices).

I downloaded the drivers rockchip but the windows does not install, says not found.

Happens to be some other driver I need?

Please help me with this last question. Has some "scheme" special to make windows 7 recognize the U8 Pipo?

(I am wanting to install this ROM with Root, to decrease the sensitivity of the touch screen of my Pipo, and see if my problem with touches ghosts decrease ...)

Thanks for your attention

When installing the drivers for your u8 you must right click on the tablet in device manager, its the one with the "!". Select install or update drivers then select manual install, the drivers for the tablet are in folder with the batch tool you downloaded to flash your firmware. It occurs to me that you said you updated your tablet already, if this is so then you should already have the drivers loaded on your laptop. Your would need them to update it, or is that you updated it on a differant pc, if that is the case than use the other pc. Anyway as I said the drivers are in the folder you downloaded from pipo before you updated your tablet.

Hello, I'm looking for some advice.

Can I install this ROM on a cyclone 2 7.9"? - I understand that they are essentially the same hardware. My tablet is painfully slow and I'm looking at ways to speed it up.

Thanks for your help

I have had my U8 (4.2.2) for about 3 weeks and a few days ago I noticed that the wifi doesn't stay on when the tablet is asleep.  Settings/Wifi/Advanced/Keep wifi on during sleep/ is set to "Always" but when I wake the tablet up, I can see the wifi is not connected (icon is black) and within about 3 seconds I can watch it connect (icon turns grey then blue).  As soon as it turns blue emails waiting on the server are downloaded and any app from Play Store is downloaded.  I have tested this about 50 times and I am sure that wifi does not stay on when the tablet sleeps.
In addition, if I set an alarm app to ring at a certain time, it does not ring if the tablet is asleep.  If I wake the tablet up the alarm rings immediately.  Not a very good alarm if you have to wake up in the morning and turn the tablet on to hear the alarm!
Music plays ok when the tablet sleeps.

Everything works normally when the tablet is plugged in!  It doesn't matter if Always or Only when plugged in is selected, wifi stays on when the tablet sleeps.

I took this up with the seller in China and they very kindly offered to fix or replace the tablet if I sent it to them.  Postage costs Canada – China make this not worthwhile.  International Xpresspost is $142!!!  There are cheaper methods but can take up to 3 months.

I was wondering if I rooted the tablet with this firmware if anyone thinks it might cure my problems.  Does rooting just modify the existing firmware (thus probably won't fix my problem) or does it completely replace the existing?  Can the 4.2.2 firmware be re-installed?  This could solve the problems.  Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated before I try to figure out how to do this root.  Thanks.
