Here is an Android 4.1 JB rooted firmware for the PIPO S1 (DS733) tablet based on latest official update from Pipo (pipo_S1_software_english_version_20130325.zip).

Build information:

Kernel: Linux version 3.0.8+ (root@wzq-G41M-ES2L) (gcc version 4.4.3 (GCC) ) #226 SMP PREEMPT Tue Mar 19 11:29:06 CST 2013

Android 4.1 JB: PIPO/DS733/DS733:4.1.1/JRO03H/20121010.100452:eng/release-keys

PIPO_S1_20130325_about.pngImage Enlarger

Based on the build signatures it seems this firmware appears to be very similar to previous Chinese update (2013/03/20)

Custom firmware features:

- root with latest SuperSU version 1.25 (free version)

- removed most Chinese and unnecessary applications

- increased space for application (/data partition) to 2 GB

- Google Play Store fixes so more application are visible/compatible

Download: kasty-pipo-s1-ds733-41-20130325-rooted.zip

Flash with Rockchip Batch tool, use Restore button.

thank you and great work .I don't want to start my first post with a question but has any one tried both the march firmwares pipo's official (eng+chin)  and ARCHTABLET's admins (eng+chin) rooted firmware ?.and which one seems to be the best on both ???. last time round the December Chinese rom seemed to be the winner since roman based a tnt rom off it.

As I mentioned on post #1, the English version Pipo release seems to be the same Linux kernel and Android system, they just changed the language settings and maybe some apps.

For me it's not real point having two (almost) identical versions, I actually removed my previous custom firmware release based on the Chinese version.

Cheers.

good question djcristi2001 as asked on flashmyandroid .if the Chinese version was fixed i.e removed bad apps/widget like admin was going to do before the newer English rom came out.would it make it better rom than English rom .or like admin said are they to similar to put the time in (which i do appreciate) to fix

Well, we don't have the resources or time to test all the firmware builds from the manufacturers for all the devices we support. It's really up to you guys to test and report which firmwares run the best, then we can have a look about rooting and optimizing / cleaning them.

Cheers.

How did you modified the image, I can see using a hex editor to change the lcd density but I'm trying to figure out how you increased the partition size..

Don't buy from pipo-store.com.

You cannot modify the image like that, you need to compile tools in linux, it is a little more complicated.

Hello !

One question:

I have a general problem on my Pipo S1:

I can flash every Firmware using the RkBatch Tool (like this one, THANK YOU) but i can not flash any of the other Firmwares that ise the RkAndroid flasher (those firmwares that are split in several parts , boot / kernel / recovery...).

Do you have any idea what i am doing wrong ?

If i try to flash any S1 Firmware with the RkAndroid tool my S1 freezes before booting !

Then i can reflash with the Rk Batch Tool and all is good but i have a very limited choice of Firmwares AND i cannot exchange the kernel (which is what i want).

Thanks for help !

you should be able to side load the kernel also via adb, or any other terminal app

---edit: can flash now, stupid mistake ----

Hello Globula !

Ah okay !

Thank you for the hint, dou you have any link to a howto ?

The thing is i can flash a kernel via RkAndroid (only "checking" the kernel file) but only get frozen boot afterwards.

I guess it is flashing the kerne to a wrong offset.

It really bothers me that "all the other" split-file-based Roms do not work.

But for now your suggestion is great if only i knew how to do it.

I can get an adb promt or use the root-terminal but i do mot know the commands...

Greetings,

Ender

put the kernel on the sdcard

adb shell
cat /proc/mtd

dd if=/sdcard/kernel of=/dev/block/mtdblock1
sync

This is just an example, you will find the exact mtd with the cat proc command
After you flash it, reboot the tablet.

It depends on the manufacturer if they will release or not a 4.2.2 upgrade.
It is worth asking also OMA for some support.

Hello Globula !

Thanks !

At the same time i found yet another way that i tried:

flash_image kernel kernel.img

That worked fine, got to play around :-)
