they both claim to update firmware and give update back up. at least one(not ask other yet) is willing to flash your rom. as they both give fast (uk) post and support they are top on my list even though relatively expensive. 

This will be my first tablet so I thought it would be nice to have one pre flashed(rooted)

The fact that they charge for a firmware leaves me very cold :) .

Why ?

-open source (why would you charge for something that you did not made and is free anyway ?! )

We only update tablet PC's here at our offices in Buckingham UK and do not send firmware out as there are several versions of the Cube U30GT2, and by updating your tablet yourself, or by installing the wrong version you run the risk of damaging your tablet.

This statement is again very dodgy :)
-why they don`t show to the customer how to update via a remote connection.
-if you will receive an update are you compelled to go in Buckingham to flash your tablet ?!
-the risk in bricking a rockchip device is quite low even if you flash the firmware from a totally different brand.

Here's a reply from Wanden -

99% of the public that buy a tablet PC just want to use it and get the best out of it. They want it delivered to them with great firmware, they want it working with all of the Google etc services they have in their country. 

 

They have no interest in finding and downloading firmware, installing drivers, rooting, removing Chinese apps, changing settings and even code to get proper Google play store access, adding international keyboards and languages, just to get the thing working properly. Which is what you have to do if you buy a Chinese tablet. Its also why so many of these forums exist. 

 

So we employ our own full time developers (who are the very best from some of these forums, you may even know them) and they redevelop the firmware in conjunction with the manufacturers to achieve the above.

 

As you can imagine it costs us a lot of money to do this but the end result is very happy customers, so its totally worth every penny. Every customer gets great firmware, that's why you will very rarely find a Wanden customer on these or any other forum, they just don't need them.

 

For those that have purchased elsewhere and neither want to or just don't have the technical ability to update, we offer a firmware updating service. We are not selling the software, we are offering a risk free service that allows people to get the best from their investment. We do not make any money out of it at all. We do it because it makes people happy with their tablet.

 

We do not make our firmware generally available due to the different versions for just about every tablet that has ever been. Think about simple ones like the H and W versions of the U30GT alone! We tested this out with some early releases of various tablets on flashmyandroid and the amount of support calls we received and the amount of 'bricked' tablets we had to repair cost us a fortune. That was a mistake. That is why we now offer a service. And we get it right 100% of the time, first time.

 

We can't support everyone, but we can make the Chinese tablet PC experience much better for many who are willing to cover our costs to do so. If you think this is wrong, then that's ok, you are entitled to your opinion but we have helped literally hundreds of people who would have otherwise thrown their tablet PC in the bin.

 

About remote connection: This again is too complicated for a large proportion of users and presents data integrity and privacy issues that as a company it would not be sensible to be exposed to.

 

I hope I have answered your questions fully. Again it is a service we offer that has made a lot of people very happy and restored their faith in the Chinese manufacturers. We have positive comments from every single update.

I have bought both a phone and a Pipo tablet from http://www.digitalplayworld.co.uk and I was very impressed with their service.

I spoke to them before my purchase and for some phone set up advice too and they were really helpful.

I believe they are official Pipo agent too.

Hello,

I want to share my experiences with Wanden Direct (Wanden.co.uk, contacts Zak and Sarah) so you are warned.

I bought a Window N101 Mk II tablet from them in november 2012. I was very pleased with it untill it was completly dead in september 2013. On their instructions I shipped it back to them in the UK. After two weeks I started to ask if they received it and only after sending a mail for the third time they finally replied after 2 weeks.

I received the repaired tablet back begin October. It worked again and they claimed the motherboard was swapped. The battery indicator was acting strangly, it never gave the correct percentage and tend to show 70% and after 30 minutes of use it was 80% or higher. The first self-charging tablet in the world, but ok it worked.

For a month, because in november it was dead again after plugging in the headphone. Returned the tablet again and never heard of Wanden since then.

I have send them countless emails using several of their email-addresses, but no response at all. Calling their phone-number results in ending up with their voicemail.

Their website is still up and running, but I really have my doubts if they are still in business. They even don't reply if I ask them for a leadtime on a new tablet through their website.

In short, be careful with dealing with Wanden Direct / Wanden.co.uk. If anybody is able to let me know if they are still in business I would appreciate it.

Hi Steve,

They are the UK's Pipo agent and offer 12 months warranty. On my 2 experiences with them, both items arrived the very next day. Apparently if you order before 1pm they ship the same day and they use Royal mail Special Delivery, or they did for both of my purchases.

Call them, I found them very helpful.

Thanks for that. The prices are good. I can only see the PiPo Max, the higher res one, but I'll give them a call and see if they can get the Basic one.

 

Question..

You can upgrade the ROM from 16gb to 32gb, does that mean that you can store apps on there, if so, do they run faster from ROM or TF card?

Just an update, the domain http://www.wanden.co.uk is for sale, so it sounds like they are definitely out of business. The registrar for this domain is Peter Wanden who's function is Managing Director at Wanden Limited. See LinkedIn for more information.

 

Still strange that the website is still up and running as nothing is wrong.

 

Just another warning to stay away from Wanden Direct.
