Hi

I have got a Pipo M9 pro 3G and I have some trouble with the screen brightness.

Sometimes the brightness automatically goes to the maximum. So I try to reduce the brightness in the settings panel but whatever the position of the slider is, the brightness is still very high (at the maximum I think). Sometimes it toggles between the actual setting and the maximum setting. I precise that I am not in auto mode and I have no apps or widget to set the brightness (Actually I deleted everything that can interfere with the setting).

Someone has the same behaviour or an idea ?

Regards.

Hi

Actually it is a hardware issue.

I opened the tablet. When I pressed on the screen PCB the issue is more frequent. So I removed the kapton adhesive tape and found the led backlight PWM controller was badly soldered. I re-soldered it and now the brightness setting is working very well !

I hope it will help.

Regards.

@robulle

Hello. I have PIPO M9 and brightness is kind of more bright than I need it to be even if I move slider all the way to the left. What can I do to make it work properly so I can make screen more dim?

Thanks.

High TechnicGeek,

What is your problem ?

You can change the brightness by moving the slider but on the left edge it is still to high for you

or the brightness is always stuck high whatever the slider position (that was may case) ?

Even on lowest brightness, the slider is on 20% and screen is still bright for me subjectively speaking. If I try moving slider to the most left side, the brightness stays same and is not getting dimmer. Look on this picture and you will see that I moved slider to its most left where typically screen should be almost dark but it is still bright in my case:

I also think that is the reason my battery lasts less than it should normally. I did not update firmware that my tablet came with but if I do, whether it will fix brightness issue.
