ClockworkMod (CWM) Recovery easy install for RK3066 and RK3188 -- TWRP/CWM Flash-Tool and root for RK3288
Please donate to support OMA and CrewRKTablets firmware work, thank you !
Here is an Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean rooted firmware for the PiPO M9 PRO (aka Max-M9pro) for both WiFI and 3G models. This custom firmware is based on new official update version 1.0.5 dated 2013/10/30. According to PiPO this release should "fix skype and netflix bugs".
(update_M9pro_1.0.5_20131030.img)
Build information:
Kernel: @Linux version 3.0.36+ (root@alex-System-Product-Name) (gcc version 4.6.x-google 20120106 (prerelease) (GCC) ) #353 SMP PREEMPT Mon Oct 28 10:51:40 CST 2013
Android 4.2.2 JB: rk30sdk/rk30sdk/rk30sdk:4.2.2/JDQ39/eng.root.20131030.104929:eng/opinions-on-teclast-p90hdst-keys
ro.rksdk.version=RK31_ANDROID4.2.2-SDK-v1.04.00
Custom firmware features:
- root with latest SuperSU version 1.65 (free version)
- removed most Chinese and unnecessary applications
- Google Play Store fixes so more application are visible/compatible
- updated busybox v1.21.0.git (2012-11-29)
- Unix like init.d boot scripts support, more details on init.d scripts here
- changed permissions on external sdcard to allow write access
- increased space for applications (/data partition) to 4 GB
- kernel modules (cifs, tun, lan, serial, xpad) compiled by Oma & Crew RKTablets, thank guys!
- NEW! optional ClockworkMod (CWM) Recovery easy install package
Notes:
- Certificate Center and original PiPO launchers have been kept in the firmware
- Certificate Center will ask for product key, which is not needed, just hit later and connect to Internet and it will be activated
- any update received thru OTA may interfere with our custom firmware, we recommend to refuse any update pushed OTA.
Unfortunately, I don't have an actual Pipo M9 pro to test and build an optimized firmware for this device. I am interested in buying one with the help of the community. Please check this page if you want to contribute to the funding of a PiPO M9 Pro that will help us to offer better firmwares. Our funding is now complete (100%) thank you all for your support. |

Please don't buy Pipo from AliExpress. Expensive and unreliable plus inability to use PayPal. Here is where you can get it cheaper and faster and through PayPal

slackerlx,
Thanks for the recommendation. I've done some research and I should actually buy locally, I found a shop that is more expensive than importing from China but they ship faster, accept Paypal and offer better support.
Cheers.

Hey
So far tested wifi, 3g, gps and benchmarked on antutu. Wifi and 3g work great.
The tablet can go into deep sleep now (couldn't in sms version). GPS doesn't find any satelites :/ (not using it anyway )
Antutu gave it 17 885 points. But the tablet seems to run a little slower than before.
Skype works, i made a few calls and it didn't crash

Hi,
3G works fine for me. You tried to put Modem Power ON, turn tablet OFF, Put in SIM card and restart? That is what I did anyway..

Great ROM no doubts. I didn't see any drop in performance. Still 19340 by AnTuTu as before.
However, I went to factory ROM because Kasty's still missing necessary elements (for me, of course). I don't believe demands are universal.
I really like oosic video player widget (cannot be found in Kasty's) which fits perfectly into family launcher. There's no time widget nor Logbook (with widget) in Kasty's Rom. I'm a teacher and work a lot with tablet, consequently using Documents widget much. As I have said, these are personal choices which I don't expect everyone to have.
Skype now finally works in both Kasty's and factory roms so finally this annoyance has been removed.

slackerlx,
It's not easy to satisfy everybody The idea of removing unnecessary apps is to keep the Android system as stock and basic as possible. Asian apps are removed because they aren't of any use for non Asian users, and some other apps were also deleted because they can be installed from Google Play Store. This assumptions aren't probably completely right and I am thinking to review that probably by adding optional packages, depending on users needs. For those using stock firmware from the manufacturer, I'd like to know what which app you would like to be kept in our custom firmware and if that's OK to get them as an additional package, probably thru ArcTools.
On an unrelated subject, we are currently experimenting overclock, please check here if you want to know more.
Cheers.
