What you described is not the boot up screen of KASTY ROM, please provide the link where you download the ROM. The boot up screen of KASTY ROM should show PiPo logo with 4.4.2 android written on it.

Tell me that I am mistaken that you are describing the boot up for another model from Archtablet download sites.(??)

I have the same startup screen as the user snulkit1 says. 4 linux penguins and after that the android logo. Nowhere the PIPO logo. I downloaded the .img from this site from the first page.

Version number is (from the device menu): rk3188-eng 4.4.2 KOT49H eng.root.20140604.100616 test-keys and kernel is: 3.0.36+

Any advice?

Will get back to you after confering with Admin. Please download INSTALL CWM from Archtool or you can search for my links to TWRP (I prefer TWRP) and install it TWRP using "Kannan Recovery Flasher" --:"RASHR Recovery Flasher" fails to install Customs Recovery on RK3188 and after that check back the boot up screen.

It was agreed by Admin and (clearly stated that this is BASED on factory released firmware ,also  Admin doesnt have the tablet model in his hands) to test out the firmware, and it is upto the users to report any problems and the risk is all the users.

It was also agreed that this firmware version from factory is not stable (probably what we call a "developers" version release i.e test firmware)  and my personal opinion is that at the bootup screen itself as you all experience it doesnt even display the PiPo logo (this is not Admins doing!I dont think he would touch that part) that tells a lot about the condition of the firmware.

So our advise to users facing this anomaly is to revert back to JB from KK. But there is a special procedure to downgrade the firmware from KK to JB. Please read it carefully and follow the instructions given to downgrade from KK to JB as it has different bootloader the KK has release 2.0 bootloader and the JB a 1.xx bootloader. This is to avoid bricking your tablet (if you follow instructions carefully)

Please read this thread : http://www.arctablet.com/blog/forum/firmware-flashing-on-rockchip-based-devices/downgrading-android-44-firmware-to-android-43-earlier-rockchip-based-devices/

By the way I am NOT on M9Max, I am on M9Pro (just doing my rounds on the Forums)

Thank you for your answer. My opinion is that is not a reason to get back in stock firmware and left this finest version :). We will get over it, we will not restart our tablet :)

Thanks again. We will be waiting for a stable release!

I HAVE INSTALLED THE NEW KITKAT WITHOUT PROBLEMS, EVERYTHING WORKS PROPERLY EXCEPT THE OTG USB PORT DON'T WORK. I CAN USE ONLY THE USB HOST PORT TO CONNECT EXTERNAL USB STICKS etc.

HAVE YOU PLEASE AN IDEA HOW CAN I CORRECT THE OTG USB PORT TO WORK?

LaughIt is a simple matter of adding modified permission files. I have made a zip installer file to add upgraded /etc/permissions folder and I have also added the corrected SuperSU and busybox location (which should have been in the xbin folder instead of bin folder) added ota survival script, SuperSU2.48, OTG Checker, additions to "init.d", updated CloudPrint for USB Wireless printing, (too bad NO build.prop coz I dont use M9Max)

(In fact I made this zip file and used USB to save zip file and transfer to PC for this upload.) The size is big due to the binaries in the xbin folder.

Hi Guys

Ive stumbled on this thread as my PIPO m9 is lagging terribly and freezes a lot for 10-20 seconds on simple non intensive tasks.

Bootup is over 3 minutes !!

Sorry for the newb question but Im looking at updating the firmware to get rid of this problem and I'm struggling to fully understand this thread :-(

Im thinking I need to

1) root device

2) Install kasty-pipo-m9-442-20140604-rooted4_mu.zip using rockchip batch tool 1.7

I have downloaded kasty-pipo-m9-442-20140604-rooted4_mu.zip firmware and the rockchip batch tool 1.7

Do I need to root my device before I can install this new firmware?

Can someone post the best URL to root a device (if I need to) and a URL to install a new firmware please?

Thanks for your help in advance

No need to root your M9 before flashing. Be sure that you have the right ROM/Tablet combination! (M9 is not M9pro !!!).

Here at the PIPO-page you can find a tutorial how to flash a new firmware.

Always use the "Restore-Button" to flash!!!!

For installing the needed windows drivers for the M9 use this Rockchip easy driver installer.

good luck

Hi,

I have a Pipo M9 Max, first version, one nand. I had a problem while I was doing a firmware upgrade and the Rockchip Batch tool stopped in “Test device 100%”. I tried everthing. I used the RKAndroid Tool to erase nand, but it shows:

- Start to erase IDB

- Start to lower format

- Doing Lower Format, Total (16384) , Current (16384)

And no more. What I have to do to recover the tablet? Please help me! I’m desperate!

IF you have installed the CORRECT firmware then it is not supposed to have this problem. ( But looking at your screen shot , it is from M9Pro? Is that the correct hardware model?)

My stupid guess is that, if it is all correct then your problem is touchscreen cable has moved/ dislodged from original position. That is why I never advised ( at least my solutions unless 150% absolutely necessary to open up the back cover)Why did you open up to repair your " Esc" button? When you open up the back cover there a few short cables that will be disturb in any tablet namely the touch screen/ screen driver cables. I have 2 tablets that is sitting in my drawer that was damaged this way . The firmware is OK but due to cable issues I am unable to use them because there are no replacement cables.

My advised is for you to check the touch screen cable/ connectors at the bottom of right corner of the tablet , reseat the cable properly.Be careful normally checking cables will result in other cables problems.

To enable easier access to " recovery" install any apps from Playstore>>" Quick reboot" ect, ect.( I hate using buttons)  In the 4 years owning the PiPo M9Pro I never recall ever using the " Esc" button, I only use screen icons

kasty-pipo-m9-442-20140604-rooted4_mu.zip

I have dled this image, and after much trial and error, gave up on rockchipbatch tool under Win 8.1, never got the button to turn green. I dled the update.zip inside the

kasty-pipo-m9-442-20140604-rooted4_mu.zip

archive to the root of my tab, and tried the cwm upgrade, only to have arctools tell me there was no such file or directory.

I tried the update.zip in a directory with same result.

I tried putting the entire

kasty-pipo-m9-442-20140604-rooted4_mu.zip

in the root of my tab, then in a directory, and arctools cwm tells me the image is invalid.

I did a complete factory reset and arctools cwm remains and I get the same results.

Anybody got instructions as to how, where, in what format, I need to dl this to my tab and get it to load under arctools cwm?

I did a complete factory reset and arctools cwm remains and I get the same results.
