What you described is not the boot up screen of KASTY ROM, please provide the link where you download the ROM. The boot up screen of KASTY ROM should show PiPo logo with 4.4.2 android written on it.

Tell me that I am mistaken that you are describing the boot up for another model from Archtablet download sites.(??)

Hello,

thank you for your fast answer

i download the Rom at the first page of this forum

the file dowloaded is kasty-pipo-m9-442-20140604-rootedd4_mu.zip

i have no  other rom downloaded on my computer ( it a new computer)

i flash with pipo rockchip 1.7

it's the second time that i have this problem with my pipo tablet with a " custom rom" (no logo and pinguin)

normaly i use the rom pipo 4.2.2for M9 MAX(not pro)  not 3G and NOT old model

i have two pipo M9 buy at the same time ( one for my sun and another for my doghter (lcd gass broken just order a new P9) so i can always see on the other pipo M9 with version is running on 4.2.2)

but the tablet in 4.4.2 work very very very better , no more lag , never dowload so fast to reinstall app ( no freeze ) and faster for 3D

thanks for your help

Hey guys,

I lost my original PIPO Max M9 (not pro) cable. Is there another way to flash this ROM? My tablet has TWRP.

Thanks in advance,

Paul.

PeGa,

You should be able to use another micro USB cable to flash your PiPO M9 tablet, just make sure you are using a good quality cable, preferably one from a known brand (HTC, Asus, Samsung,...) if you have a phone from these as such cables are more reliable.

You can also try a "noname" cable or one from another Chinese tablet, it usually works but there is always a risk of faulty flashing with lower quality cables.

Our custom firmware from post #1 comes in a Rockchip Batch tool compatible "update.img" format and can't be flashed thru CWM/TWRP.

Cheers.

Hi Admin, thanks for your reply. Following your advice, I've managed to upgrade the tablet to 4.4.2. It's beautiful, in ART mode works blazingly fast, but something is eating the battery in a way I've never seen before. This is the third rom flash I think, and I never had this problem. Am I the only one experimenting this?

This is the behaviour:

With the cable unplugged,  wifi off, BT off and airplane mode on, keeping the display off (I.e. in standby); no apps running in background nor heat symptoms:

- In a night battery levels were lowered from ~60% to 20%

- Power on the display, I can see the battery indicator descending at a rate of 1% every 40 seconds

- Power on wifi, battery levels are lowered by 1% in less than 30 seconds

- Again, no applications are shown in background, just installed fdroid, a Go game and firefox (everything from fdroid) yesterday.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

With current windows drivers installed, make sure the tablet is off and plugged into the USB from your computer. Press and hold the esc button.  After 5 seconds press and hold the reset button with a staple.  After another 5 seconds press and hold the power button.  The PIPO should then boot to the stock recovery and be detected by RKbatchtool.  At this point let go of the esc and reset buttons but continue to hold down the power key.  You must hold down the power key the entire time you flash.  If you let it go the tablet will turn off and you will have to start the process over.  This was the only way I could figure out to flash this as I replaced the stock recovery with Clockwork.  I'm sure there are other ways but this was the only one I could figure out.

Hi guys!
After I replaced (bought on Ebay) a broken touch screen for my Pipo M9 pro, I got a mirrored vertically touchscreen. Someone is faced a similar problem? I was told that it is possible to change something in the kernel firmware, but I do not have sufficient knowledge ...

The following users say thank you to rager for this useful post:

Thanks for this Kitkat upgrading. But exactly the same problem like snulkit1.
Please check firmware you uploaded is the correct version, because the four pinguins and four appearing error messages during flash process happen always (I've tried flashing four times with the same result).
Regards.

Hi Rager, i've got the same problem with my pipo max M9 (flashed with kasty-pipo-m9-442-20140604-rooted4_mu). They say that we need to edit the script.bin file, but I've tried edit the script.bin with a couple of softwares including DragonFace to edit the firmware but it didn't opened my firmware image and I didn't had success. I'm trying to solve the problem yet. If I solve i will post the solution here  #someonehelpus !!!

I am writing you to help me

The other day I try to upgrade the version of Andriod (I had the 4.1 series and try to put the 4.4.2 the next link http://www.arctablet.com/blog/forum/pipo-max-m9/rom-pipo-m9-android-4-4-2-kitkat-custom-root-firmware-20140604/, but has been with black screen)

I write because I have seen and know of android tablets and see if you can help me, I would greatly appreciate it

The steps I did was:

1 - Update v1.7 with Rockchip program
2 - Make my pc to recognize the tablet until it turned green step 1
3 - Wait for the firmware update is completed to the end
4 - gave me a red to finish mistake and since then the only thing that makes the tablet is to be plugged into the pc and every 20 seconds, turned off and on by itself but the tablet screen is not seen nothing

I opened the tablet, I have attempted in the chip that brings bypass it with some iron, and the only thing I get is that off and on again. I read in some articles that I was pressing the connectors 7-8 or 8-9 but neither worked

I could do. I want to turn, I do not care for andriod version, which does not want it to stick broken

I have Pipo Max M9 WIFI, no pro

Thank you very much and sorry if I've bothered

Sorry for my English, I have translated with google translator

This my 2 cents worth of advise. Please use Win7 PC to avoid complications, DO NOT USE USB 3.0 port. If on one USB port fails try another USB port (but not USB3.0). There shouldnt be any "cannot open image file" problems. This is a true and tried ROM flashing with RK BatchTool v1.7. I had flashed and reflashed Kasty's ROM (every version from 4.22 till KitKat) since August last year on my old Win7 PC and never once did I encounter this problems the latest reflash was about 1 month ago when I got into trouble on my M9PRo (moddng it). Are all your drivers installed ?, go back to basic no matter how trivial it may seem.

I do not (will not) like to recommend shorting this and that pin on any IC unless that is the only solution in the world universally agreed by developers and other users. I dont think it will help except it can only makes things worst by shorting the wrong pins and blowing the IC (which you cannot see inside). This is only a flashing gone wrong and can be corrected by buttons combination and trying another reflash.

Hi,

coming from Rileyrom with Android 4.2.2 and Clockworkmod recovery, I tried to flash my Pipo M9 Max with this kasty rom. The Rockchip tool doesn't recognize the tablet anymore (CWM?), and when I try to flash the zip file via CWM recovery, the installation ends immediately with: "Installation aborted. result was NULL, message is: assert failed: install_zip"

I'm really tired of this laggy Android 4.2 and would like to give this tablet a second life. Is there any chance to fix this? Is there a special CWM version of the kasty rom? Is there a way to remove the recovery image and make the tablet again visible for the rockchip tool?

Thx for your help!

Regards

Kasty ROM CANNOT be flashed using CWM/TWRP it is not in that format, it is in an "abc.img" format which must use RkBatchTool version 1.7 to flash the "*.img" file. If your PC cant recognised the Tablet you should try to start the flashing process by simultaneously pressing the "Esc" button on the Tablet during starting of the flashing process until you see the pink square. This is not the same Tool that you used to flash the RileyROM. This is the actual factory tool.

http://www.pipo.cn/En/index.php?m=Contact&a=index&id=248&type=3

When downloading the firmware please use a high speed link so as not to corrupt the "abc.img" file . It is a 430MB single file. (one file the size of 430MB!!) and so it is easy to get a corrupted file if interrupted while downloading.
