Dear Friends

In 2013 I purchased an PiPO Max M9 Pro 3g and after reading other posts I'm terrified of updating it. PiPO Max M9 Pro 3g for Dummies would be greatly appreciated

I visited the PIPO UK website to try and register the warranty, using the serial number stated on the warranty card, message serial number not found. Next I went to setting, status on the tablet and entered the serial number there which was different to the warranty card, same message serial number not found. I'm wondering where to find the correct number?

In setting about tablet it states Kernel version 3.0.36+ root@alex System Product-Name #343 (Fri Oct 18) Build No: rk30sdk-eng 4.2.2 JDQ39 eng.root. 20131018 145854 test-keys.

Is there an update, if yes which one do I need?

I've downloaded the Firmware tools _ english version 201308160838097884.rar file from the PIPO website and Rockchip_Batch_Tool_v1.7.zip file from this site and attached screen shots from my tablet Ialso connected my tablet to my PC and copied over all files on the tablet, as back up I don't know if this necessary?

My final question relates to apps, I apologise for my ignorance but I don't know the appropriate terminology for tablets but should I download a type of anti-virus and or cleaner as the tablet appears to run slowly and several apps stop responding and the battery life is nowhere near 9 hours.

Thank you very much in advance for your responses.

Please search this forum for the updated PiPo M9Pro 3G firmware yours seems to be an older version. Please DO NOT  input in any number into the input window (for activation) or else it may disable your device.the later firmware version will automatically activate itself when you have wifi connection ON.

First download the latest 3G version of M9Pro (not M9!!) and flash the device with it, the firmware is stable in its current version. You must download the RKDriver Install before all else (run the RK Driver Install on your Win7 or Win 8 PC , it cannot run on Win8.1). only then you can start flashing your newer firmware,ALL of this tools are available in the forums please do some research on the subject of how to install RkDiver Install and how to flash your new firmware from within this forum, it will save yourself a headache. You only need the RK batch tool v1.7 discard the one from the PiPo site and read this attached  PipO upgrade guide (pdf format) instead of the one inside the RK batch Tool (MS Word format).LaughCool

Cracktech is my hero!

I followed his excellent advice and was at first surprised how easy the updating procedure actually was. The update almost finished then disaster it failed, and I ended up soft bricking the tablet SO distraught, it appears the updated firmware I downloaded from PIPO was corrupt!

Several PM's to and from Crackteck and I was ready to try to update again, AWESOME restoring and upgrading worked 1st time.

I had been very disappointed with the tablet it was slow and unresponsive, after the upgrade it is like a different tablet fast and responsive.

If I can update the firmware anyone can just make sure you follow Cracktech's excellent advice

HUGE Thanks again Cracktech

3 Cheers to Jude!

she has been keeping quiet for the past few days I was afraid of contacting her again for fear of putting pressure on her (apart from her angry husband, or so I thought) and then suddenly WALLAH she is back with a live (and kicking) M9Pro (is that a boy or a girl?)

All the best Jude enjoy your new toy!

I just can't get over how much better the tablet is after the upgrade its changed from a tortoise to a hare so fast and responsive no more waiting ages for webpages to load and messages * has stopped responding wait or close! The difference really is unbelievable.

My husband wasn't overjoyed I borrowed his laptop (W7) for the upgrade but as it survived without damage he'll let me borrow it again for the next upgrade.

My advice  or reassurance to any tablet dummy like me is to take the time to read the appropriate threads check you have downloaded the correct tools /upgrade and follow the instructions in Cracktech's excellent upgrade guide personally I found the screenshot pictures very helpful. Having done my 1st upgrade I can see why using the RK batch tool v1.7 is so much easier than the PiPo one! I won't be frightened about doing the next upgrade.

It was unfortunate the upgrade downloaded from the PiPo website was corrupt but it wasn't the end of the world or end of the tablet as again reading the appropriate threads and following the instructions it was easily corrected at the 1st attempt.

My tablet has to be a girl Cracktech its been a right pain but now its lovely! And HUGE thanks again for nursing me through the process.

Jude

You are most welcome as with the other members from NZ,South Africa,Russia,France and Germany that I guided through Private Messages so as not to clutter the forum too much with noob questions and guidance and specially prepared documents and uploads (apps).

I am more than willing to help out anyway I can, I dont do this for money,(who pays me?) just to keep this mind occupied after retiring from an Executive Directors position (with chauffer and other perk, sometimes it is hard to forget your good old days.)

Anyway best of luck to you Jude, till the next upgrade (hopefully without any problems) just an advise dont upgrade yet to the KitKat firmware for now. It is not stable yet for our device.

Dear Cracktech

After the upgrade it's like receiving a new tablet, it will take me a while to discover everything and sometime before I even consider upgrading to KitKat!

Many Thanks

Jude
