Photos are made by Pipo Technical support. They aren't mine. The attachment of these photos is the response of technical support for me.

Looking them, I think that GPS antenna is the bottom antenna of two antennas located on the right-top corner.

If you don't believe me, you can contact with anna.ye@pipo.com.cn, but the e-mail said this:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Friend,

Good day.

Thank you for your pictures.

Attached is the uncovered M9Pro.

The red part in the second picture is the antenna of the GPS.

Best regards,

Hi tito,

the picture of the GPS antenna from PIPO-support, look like a "Dipol GPS Antenna"...

see below:

Dipo-antennaImage Enlarger

Please, read the Text inside the picture !!!!!

The only way is, move/change this type of antenna to outside (backside) of PIPO M9pro !?!?!

Or we use a gps patch microstrip antenna like: Dipol or the type that looks like a "F" or a readyone

to buy for 4-6 € but the have a thickness from 4-10mm, cant test it why my M9pro arrives in 10-12 days... Embarassed

Sorry for my bad english...

Best regards from germany,

Mr.BlueSky

I just want a 10.1" satnav in me car...

There is few space inside the tablet and less on the top side. You can try the famous trial and error. I think that the best option is a copper tape bigger than the original with the same shape.

On the other hand, we can try to put out the antenna GPS using adhesive copper tape. If someone has difference ideas about shapes of GPS antennas, please comment it here.

I am having the same gps issues with my m9 proConfused. Is it not possible to install an external aerial plug so you can plug in a external independant gps antenna to use with this device. I am sending my m9 pro back and getting the 3g version will it be any better at getting a gps signal using the sim connection?Frown

What about the Hyundai T10 any body have any idea what the gps is like on those tablets.

All i want is a 10.1" satnav to use in car, my phone does a great job so why can't a tablet?Confused

German_campo, user of htcmania forum, has discovered the solution. Wifi antenna produces interferences in the GPS signal. Solution is simply to turn off the wifi function in settings while we are using the GPS.
If we put the right side of the tablet (where the GPS antenna is) looking the sky, it improve the signal more too.

Engineers could have put the GPS antenna on the top of the tablet, but I think that they tried to keep away the GPS antenna of the PCB for avoiding interferences and noise.

If the signal continue being poor, we can try to put the GPS antenna on the top of the tablet and to isolate the GPS antenna of the PCB.

This is not correct. Only the M6pro has built-in GPS antenna. Freaktab is not a reliable forum, but you can try using it if you like.

Again, no built-in GPS antenna. It only has Google Navigation which means you need to be connected to Wifi or 3g to use.

Thanks.

Hello guys!
I have PIPO M9 Pro 3G

For me that part shown on that picture looks like 3g antenna. I have disassembled my tablet and moved that antenna frol that place to middle bottom of the tablet (making sure that cables are not crossing so badly as they did originally) and sticed it on top of electrical tape so there is no direct connection with that copper tape there (the alluminum sticky part stayed in touch with that copper tape). If it really was the GPS antenna (weird shape as for gps..) then after turning tablet upside down the signal should be much better.  My GPS had 0 sattelites before. If it will improve the signal then i will think of modding that antenna. It is not so difficult to do as people say. But it has to be copper tape. Not a cable. Cables does not catch signal so well.

Antenna has been moved. After closer look i can clearly see that it is WiFi antenna. Actually one of two. When moved to different place, WiFi signal become stronger. It is better than it was.  GPS still not working..

My signal was very bad, but I didn't dismantle anything.

I used configuration file supplied in this archive, after I modified it, of course (instructions are included in txt file. [credit to CRACKTECH !!!]

And here is the result as you can see in shots. I took one with WIFI on and the other is with WIFI off.

Use it in good health :)

Great Slakerlx! Glad I was able to help somebody out!

The gps.cfg file was originally created on my ZENITHINK Z-102 GPS tablet running Android 4.0.4 and until today it has been in all my Android pads and phones (but of course with my local settings Asia/Malaysia the MY in there is for Malaysia, everybody else has to check their repective countries "ntp.server"  and change only the "ntp.server" names to your local settings leave everything else intact).

It was originally created by an app from Playstore something called (i cant remember) "FasterGPs settings" which I had to purchase and all it did was to create that gps.cfg file into the system/etc folder very basic settings changes. the rest I modified it through time until it is perfect as it is now.

Pipo doesnt have the gps.cfg file written whether it is for China locale or elsewhere they have "gps.config" file which is  a bunch of technical setup config for our gps or rather the the gps hardware settings but not the "gps.cfg" which specify the locale where you started off with. (your home country/state). It links with googles and nokia gps sites for pin pointing the location and uses the NTP.SERVER located in each country or the one closest to your country if the country doesnt have one. like in the EU not all contries especially ex-communist blocks countries have them. so it resort to the one nearest to that country you will have to a google search for lets say "Romania ntp.server" and and change the ntp.server accordngly in the gps.cfg.

Glad to be of help. I was just wondering what the fuss was all about the other side of the world regarding the gps (although not as good as I expect it to be but it did pin point my location the minute I switch on GPS, pronto!) I worked from home and sits at a desk adjoining the window so the gps was quite ok I'd say for my Z-102 I have to throw out the GPS dongle out the window for it to get any gps signal.

Glad to be of help. Anybody needs help in modifying the ntp.server please PM me with your country and City. but you all are big boys arent you!

Hello.
I did more less as you said and now im thinking if it was correct.

NTP_SERVER=pl.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER_1=0.pl.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER_2=1.pl.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER_3=2.pl.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER_4=pl.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER_5=1.pl.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER_6=2.pl.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER_7=3.pl.pool.ntp.org

Thats how it looks in my file now. Settings for Poland. I have changed all the NTP, not only the first one. Is it correct?
After testing outside still no signal

As far add I recall four first servers should reflect your continent, hence europe.pool.ntp.org
