yeeeeesssss!! I have the same problem. I doesn't find people speaking about this but I think that the problem is in all Pipo M9 Pro tablets. Maybe, they have reduced the GPS antenna for solving the wifi problems.
I am looking for how to use engineer mode with RK3188 chips buy I don't find solutions. I begin to think that engineer mode is only accessible for MTK chips.
The tablet doesn't find satellites and it loose them very easy. Too, I looking for a tutorial for disassemble Pipo M9 Pro. Perhaps, changing  or increasing the GPS antenna the signal will be improved.
As well I think that someone could test if flashing our device with Pipo ROM for 3G devices (although our device is without 3G), in settings appears GPS EPO or A-GPS, because it can help to find the satellites faster and of way more stable, although we need use tethering with the mobile phone.
I have tried to use too sotfwares like GPS-FIX, GPS-STATUS, GPS ANGRY, FASTER GPS, but GPS continue working badly.
Please, if more people have this problem, comment it.Â

I am quite amazing because nobody is speaking about the GPS problem in Pipo M9 Pro tablets.
This tab gets few satellites and looses them very easy. It's impossible to navigate point to point with it using apps like Sigyc, Navigon, tom-tom, Navigator, ...
I my view the problem is the antenna GPS, but when I open the Tablet I can see only two black cables in the top right corner making of Wifi antennas. Do someone know where is sited the GPS antenna?
I sent one mail to Pipo.cn support but they have disregarded me.
Please, if someone has the same problem or NO, comment it here. We must be few users yet using this tablet because I find few information about this problem in Google.
tito2k,
To my knowledge the engineering mode as it can be found on MTK platform does not exist on Rockchip devices.
About the GPS problem, can you give more details on how many satellites are seen by the GPS, how fast it takes to get a fix, after how long it looses the sats ? Can you compare your measures with other phone/tablets ?
Cheers.

I see 4, 6, 8 satellites using Sigyc. Signal is always poor, and the app is saying "waiting for a good signal". The error always is approximately 190-70 meters, and while you are expecting more satellites, suddenly you loose several of them. They appear and disappear frequently. Sometimes 0 sattellites, sometimes, 5 or 6, more or less every 2 minutes.
Impossible locate yourself with accuracy.
In the Pipo.cn facebook, Anna Ye said that we can to try updating to new Pipo ROM of 6 September. If someone test it and it works, please, comment it here.
On the other hand I have received the schedules of the Pipo M9 Pro Circuits. Wifi, GPS, Bluetooth y 3G works all in one in the same AP6210/AP6474Â chipset using different pins to receive the signal. There are two black cables like a antenna. I think that the second cable more down is the antenna GPS.
In this forum http://www.htcmania.com/showthread.php?t=612133 people speak about how to design GPS Antennas with Good Signal reception for china phones. I'm sorry but it is in spanish. I don't have a english link speaking about this.

I bought a M9 Pro 3G and it arrived TODAY!!! I bought it to use it in my car as a GPS device.
The GPS signal is very very bad. I am not even seeing any satellites. Sometimes rarely 2 signals and they just vanish after sometime. I tried for hours but no signal/ fix could be made.
Please let me know if there is any new firmware that could fix this issue OR If there is any hardware workaround/fix to be done manually with the antenna wires. I would be very glad if anyone could sort this out!!!
BTW I used the GPS TEST app pre-installed in the tablet.

All Pipo M9 Pro tablets have the same problem with GPS. It simply doesn't work.
You can try installing new update ROM of 6 september, but nobody has told in forums if it improve the GPS signal and stability.
I think that the problem is in the GPS antenna. If you are courageous, you can try disassembling the tab y build other antenna.
If you install the updated ROM, please, tell us if it improves the GPS stability.
Other solution is to use the GPS phone, connecting it by bluetooth to the tablet.

I have already disassembled the Tablet!!! Here are the Pics!!!
When I opened the tablet, the GPS performance was VERY Good (8/11 satellites connected!!! and I was near by my Office Windows) But when I closed the back cover it went from awesome to pretty bad. I guess there is something causing interference with the GPS antenna. One thing that I am sure about is that the interference is not caused by the Wifi or 3G!!! When opened and seen from the back these (Wifi and GPS) antennas are on the Top-right side of the tablet while the GPS antenna is the one on the Bottom-Left side of the tablet.
I think a proper shielding of the antenna will make the device receive better signals!!!
GPS ANTENNA!!!
DUAL WIFI ANTENNAS CONNECTED TO THE PCB BOARD AND TABLET PC's BACK COVER
Here is a video of someone using the Pipo M9 Pro 3g in their car.
I am just really jealous!!!
So it is clear that the problem is only with a particular batch of tablets manufactured from Pipo!!!
If anyone has a better idea to better the GPS signal then please share it here!!!

I have also updated to the latest version (FIRMWARE DT.09.09.2013) but still have the same problem!!! The problem seems to be with the hardware!!!
BTW, how do you suggest to rebuild the antenna?!! I tried googling but I find no information regarding building a useful antenna. Usually a copper wire of certain length with proper shielding (Length which resonates the GPS wavelength must be used) has to be used which will be quite sufficient to have as an antenna!!! But I just need to make sure which is the GPS antenna in the above pics!!! If it is the one that I have pointed out then I am quite willing to make an antenna by myself and solder it to the Tablet's PCB!!!

Take care, because I have a Pipo M9 Pro without 3G and I don't have your GPS antenna where you tell. I don't have any antenna there, at the bottom-left side. For this I think that it is 3G antenna.
I see only in my tablet without 3G two antenna at the top-right side. I think that GPS antenna is the more down but I am not 100% sure. I have contacted with Pipo Support again to ask where is sited exactly the GPS antenna. When They answer for me, I will post it here.
To build a GPS antenna, you need a copper tape. You can buy it here en ebay.

My PiPO M9 Pro (non 3G) GPS performs significantly better if it oriented to Portrait mode with the camera on your right. This leads me to believe that the GPS antenna is on the left side of the case. An ext antenna mod would be the best way to get better signals but this would make it an ugly contraption.

hi Tito,
Hoping you don't mind. Can you please share the email from pipo.cn ??? Are you sure it is the one on the bottom??? What about the L-Shaped antenna on the Top-right Corner? Could that be the GPS antenna??? I am still confused with this thing!!!
BTW, When I opened my tablet's back cover, I had the power on and so I got the chance to test the Pipo's GPS while it was open. When it was open the GPS performance was very good. I had upto 10 satellites with 6-8 connected with accuracy 16-20ft which is very good considerably. When I just brought the back cover closer to the tablet (Like closing it / putting it back together) the signal went down drastically!!! So if you can confirm which is which again, I can try isolating the same with some shielding!!!
