Please report any problem with this firmware, I can't verify this custom firmware works as I don't have a PIPO M9 MAX tablet to test the custom firmware.

I don't know there are 2 hardware versions of the M9.
The custom firmware is based on latest Pipo firmware from here, which doesn't mention the hardware revision.

Nope, no CWM needed, this firmware is a full image, to be flashed with Rockchip Batch Tool.
There are some instructions in the link below, for a Cube U30GT2 (another RK3188) but it should be similar on the Pipo M9.

Thanks for reporting the problem and sorry about that.
I don't have a M9 MAX, so I couldn't test the firmware I built. I'll review it and let you know if I find the issue.
Cheers.

I don't know who is more irresponsible. You that release a firmware for a device you don't have therefore not knowing if it will work or even damage other peoples devices, or me/us that download your firmware and try it out.
Nevertheless nice try....
PS. you should had a disclaimer first post I DONT HAVE THIS DEVICE NOR TEST THE THINGS I'M RELEASING. IF YOU DECIDE TO INSTALL THIS ITS BY YOUR OWN RISK, or something.
If I would have read this I wouldn't ever wasted my time downloading something that although is well intentioned is not credible from the beginning
Pipo P9
Well, post #1 clearly states the firmware was released untested and I don't have the device to run it. There is another warning before you download the file, but maybe it's not clear enough.
The custom firmware building for this device is based on one that was fully tested, on the Cube U30GT2 which is based on similar RK3188 architecture.
I have released literally hundreds of firmwares and rarely got into such problems. And if problems happen, I always do what's required to fix it. I wouldn't want to crash anyone's device, so every firmware I release can be fixed by re-flashing the stock firmware or another custom one. Most Rockchip and Allwinner platforms are designed in a way that you can fix bad flashes, this should work in most cases unless there is some hardware damage on the NAND flash memory.
I'm so sorry about wasting your time.

Sadly some of you don't see what we are doing, the amount of work that is behind every firmware maybe that`s why our work is not appreciated and is taken as granted.
Since i am on "www" i never tested something without accepting that they are some risks involved even if they were or not mentioned (and that is common sense and should be for everyone). We unbricked till now maybe around 100 hundred tablets with our firmwares and tutorials and support/commitment towards the users.
Btw, the Rockchip tablets are virtually indestructible from a flashing point of view, no firmware will erase the bootloader which is the most important part of the tablet and the main way to flash/recovery/reflash the tablet so your assumptions that we provide a firmware that may destroy/damage a tablet don't have a solid base and even if by chance a user will end up with a tablet that does not boot normally after flashing the firmware we will provide all the support to bring the tablet to the previous state.
In the end if you think that our work is dodgy you are free to not use it, but the hundreds of people that have/are/will use what we create are the perfect proof that we do not damage any device and never will.

Hi,
I found a working rooted version for Pipo Max M9 based on the latest official firmware 20130422Â : http://www.flashmyandroid.com/forum/showthread.php?4205-UPDATE-IMG-(PiPO_M9_update_(V2)_20130423-English)-Incl-Root
Works perfect for me on version 2!
Thanx 2 Hejira.
