I kept having that problem where the launcher stops working and I'd have to tap it to get the tablet going again. I went to the PiPO site to find a fix. I found it, but while I was there I decided to get the latest firmware. I've never flashed a tablet before, but I've done PCs and Notebooks so I wasn't nervous. Long story short, the update ended "sucessfully" but the tablet went completely black. It wouldn't boot, wouldn't reset and the charge light went out. Part of me figured, I'd ruined the thing, but both my XP and Win7 computer could still see it, so I figured there must be just enough life in it to bring it back. I looked at various sites for two days and came upon this one. I kept the tablet plugged in while I was searching although I couldn't tell if it was charging or not.  I downloaded the RockChip Batch Tool and the DS1007_M9pro_4.4.2_20131226.rar / M9pro_software_NO 3G_chinese version_20131226_Android4.4.2 firmware update. It took a little doing to get a green light, but when it appeared I pressed restore and crossed my fingers. To my relief it worked!   I got my tablet back. The charge light is working too. I just want to say thank you for having this site and I left a donation.

I am not having such great luck with my M9.  The flash seems to run fine.  I get the successful completion (green status line), my tab screen brightens slightly, then the camera light comes on.  The tab goes through a period of changing shades of gray and then completely black.  The camera light remains lit until I use a paper clip to press the reset button.  I'm dead here, can someone please help?  I have tried to load 3 different images.  All 3 seem to load successfully, but with the same result.

Thanks,

-Ron E

Just a stupid question  - Are you flashing it with the M9 firmware or M9Pro firmware they are not interchangable.(bet you already know that)

What exactly is your model, M9 or M9Pro?

Flash it using KASTY ROMs since (by the way you described it) it is not "bricked". Just ensure you use the right firmware. Please check again. Your description is akin to flashing the M9 with the M9Pro (or vice versa) firmware.

There is also a possibility of mislabeling (on the box) by the factory, just check on the Google App store if you already activated your device to see your previous model name on the device page.(on the AppStore).Coz it seems your description of the problem feels like flashing the wrong firmware. Now just to confirm the actual model.

Next time just install MOBOROBO app on your PC and install an after market Launcher like APEX from the PC to the device through MOBOROBO. Sometimes threre is a glitch in the memory chip during "writing" that causes the Launcher not to startup start up properly and installaing an after market Launcher will eliminate the annoyance.( I do have that problem occasionally my APEX Launcher 99.9% works all the time but that 0.1% still occurs)

Hi Cracktech - you were absolutely correct...  I was loading M9Pro firmware onto my M9!!  Now that I have a successful firmware load, how do I "unroot" the device?  You are probably asking why would I want to do that.  Well I am using the device as a "BYOD" tablet for work and the MDM profile prohibits rooted devices.  Since I am a novice in this space, I may need some assistance.  Here's what I tried - I opened the SuperSU app > Settings > Unroot.  This looked like it uninstalled the SuperSU app.  Does this mean that my device is now "unrooted"?  Sorry for the "stupid" questions :-)

Glad you have that sorted it out. It is an experience to be learned. thats how I learned , too I destroyed 2 10.1inch pad through my learning process, looks like another is on the way to dustbin.

Yes when you get SuperSU to clean the root it is "unrooted".

You can confirm that by using the attached app.

Tonight I lost my status bar and nav icons.  It occurred when I opened gmail the first time after the flashing with kasty.  I have looked for a setting, but no luck.  Any ideas?

As i have said elsewhere on the forum (and my own personal experience) this has nothing to do with KASTY ROm or RILEY ROM or whatever customs ROM. My personal experience is to be prepared to to reflash the firmware again, this time with another fresh download of the KASTY ROM and save it to another drive so as not to have a corrupted *.img files. What you experience is a slight corruption of the *.img file (remeber it is a 300Mb++ contiguos file and nothing within the 300Mb -1 solid/full file can be have any glitches in it) there fore if your download is not corrupted, what about the HDD? it is made up of sectors and the 300Mb files are save not as 1 solid file they are stored on the first avaiilable sector on the HDD all over the disk and this is done without users intervention that is why we have disk defragmenter app for Windows (It is to try to piece them close together but not alway in 1 piece). And if one of the sectors have errors they will turn up as operating errors on your device.

If it is a minor corruption then you will see "success" in flashing only when there is a major corruption that the device either woul not boot up at all, or goes haywire or cant even start the flashing process itself. So my advise to you is to redownload a fresh copy of the firmware and change the download drive to another and then flash again.
