Here is an Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean rooted firmware for the PiPO M6 PRO (aka Max-M6pro) for both WiFI and 3G models. This custom firmware is based on new official update version 1.1.2 dated 2013/12/04. This firmware integrates latest features such has status bar hiding and QuickBoot, see below.

(M6pro_OTA_1.1.2_update_20131204.img / M6pro_OTA_software_20131204)

Build information:

Kernel: Linux version 3.0.36+ (root@alex-System-Product-Name) (gcc version 4.6.x-google 20120106 (prerelease) (GCC) ) #211 SMP PREEMPT Thu Nov 28 16:51:58 CST 2013

Android 4.2.2 JB: rk30sdk/rk30sdk/rk30sdk:4.2.2/JDQ39/eng.root.20131204.093214:eng/opinions-on-teclast-p90hdst-keys

ro.rksdk.version=RK30_ANDROID4.2.2-SDK-v1.00.00

Custom firmware features:

  • root with latest SuperSU version 1.80 (free version)
  • removed most Chinese and unnecessary applications
  • Google Play Store fixes so more application are visible/compatible
  • updated busybox¬†v1.21.0.git (2012-11-29)
  • Unix like¬†init.d boot scripts support, more details on init.d scripts¬†here
  • changed permissions on external sdcard to allow write access
  • disabled OTA updates (may cause problems, see Notes below)
  • increased space for applications (/data partition) to¬†4 GB
  • kernel modules (cifs, tun, lan, serial, xpad) compiled by Oma &¬†Crew RKTablets, thank guys!
  • optional¬†ClockworkMod (CWM) Recovery easy install package
  • NEW! optional Deep Sleep fix for some Rockchip RK3188 based tablets ArcTools package

Notes:

- Certificate Center and original PiPO launchers have been kept in the firmware

- Certificate Center will ask for product key, which is not needed, just hit later and connect to Internet and it will be activated

- any update received thru OTA may interfere with our custom firmware, we recommend to refuse any update pushed OTA.

- to hide the status bar, press the last button on the right from the status bar

From the hidden status bar to show it again: slide from bottom of the screen to the top.

Pipo_M9_pro_firmware_20131120_hide_bar2.png

- we have posted a short video about the Quick Boot feature

Download: kasty-pipo-m6_pro-422-ota_112_20131204-rooted4.zip

Flash with Rockchip Batch Tool version 1.7, use Restore button.

the deep sleep fix is NO MORE necessary, we have found a libril file that is able to enable deep sleep also for 3G models.

take a look here on post #292:

I believe the fix in your link is similar to the one we have included in our ArcTools package.

We prefer to offer the fix as an option (for the M6 pro and other RK3188 tablets) so users can choose if they want to use it or prefer keeping the default file from the manufacturer. There should be no need to use a fix if the tablet doesn't show Deep Sleep problems.

Cheers.

Why someone should use the original file?

On 3G models deep sleep NEVER works with original libril file

On wifi only models this file is completely useless, so a change of that file doesn't make any collateral effect.

I think that the original file is a BIG problem and completely useless. But this is my personal opinion...

If I previously installed kasty-pipo-m6_pro-422-ota_107_20131015-rooted4, can I update to this one using CWM, not Rockchip Batch Tool?

SwInDaMix,

I'm afraid not, you'll have to flash with Rockchip Batch Tool.

We're are working on converting future updates in CWM format for easier upgrades.

Cheers.

Thank you for the new firmware it appears to work really well. The one thing I don’t get is the Deep Sleep fix for some Rockchip RK3188 based tablets ArcTools package option in the Arctools app, am I missing something? Thanks for any advice.

How about 3G version custom firmware updates? As I see there is only one version is able " kasty-pipo-m6_pro_3G-422-20130823-rooted4", now I have the official 2131021 official build installed.

As post #1 mentions, this update should work for both WiFI and 3G models.

Cheers.

Hello, does it wake up the screen with volume buttons? I really need this 'cause the on/off is broken. I can put it on plugging the charger but it is annoying every time the screen goes off. Thank you

Hello, I have a Pipo M6 WiFi and I flashed with Rockchip Batch Tool version 1.7 but this firmware doesn't work well. Wifi doesn't activate. Is it possible that this firmware does only work in 3G models? Thank you.

Hello, I've just realized that this firmware is for Pipo M6 Pro and mine is Pipo Max WiFi (not Pro). Sorry.

ROM seems to work quite well and stable. However, it seems the menu entry in the settings to change display mode is no longer available.

I prefer "Normal Mode", as the M6 is somewhat challenged in "HD Mode" (and I cannot really see a big difference).

Anyone know how to how to change to "Normal Mode" wo. this option available in the menu?
