Hi - would be grateful for any help.

Obtained a tablet last year - from F5CS (Fusion) UK via Amazon. See http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00GZ34AFC/ref=pe_385721_37986871_TE_item

I can't identify the manufacturer.

Antutu confirms it is an RK3188, retina 9.7 display, 2GB ram, 16GB storage. Supposed to be 8000mAh, 7.4v battery (9v charger 2A). Looks most similar in specs to the Vido M9 or E-Ceros Revolution.

I tried some other roms (Pipo, Visture, Onda, Vido) but all had problems with battery - always shows 0% and sometimes only ran for 30mins on a "full" charge. Also problems with Skype.

I reverted to the original firmware which solved the battery issues but it's much less smooth than the ROMS (presumably using sdk 2.0).

The seller (Fusion) haven't been able to provide any updates.

These are the relevant build.prop data:

ro.build.id=JDQ39E

ro.build.display.id=rk3066-userdebug 4.2.2 JDQ39E eng.fun.20130427.223241 test-keys

Could anyone suggest a compatible ROM based on SDK 2.0 to try?

Many thanks - Simon

Don't know how to find stock ROM - as don't know the manufacturer!

I have a nandroid backup of the original firmware if that helps. Could upload to dropbox/google drive.

There seem to be so many variations of the RK3188 9.7 tablets (battery, camera, gps, wifi, bluetooth etc) that it is very difficult to identify another compatible kernel - just trial and error.

Ok, the build identifies itself as Lenovo S6000 and the tab has MT5931 wifi.

ro.build.id=JDQ39
ro.build.display.id=S6000-eng 4.2.2 JDQ39 eng.root.20130901.201540 test-keys
ro.product.model=lenovo S6000

Kernel is here: http://crewrktablets.arctablet.com/?wpfb_dl=1923

Build is here: http://crewrktablets.arctablet.com/?p=3052

Thanks Oma.

It's not a Lenovo s6000 as you realise.

For which model is the RK3188 kernel and build you've suggested?

Are they based on Rockchip SDK 2.0 firmware?

I prefer the old status bar on top and centered button layout - could I try your new kernel with the current build?

Ah... I'd been looking at the Lenovo S6000 ideal tab. Doh!

The s6000 you linked looks different (see my pics - dropbox link I pm'd you before) but I assume it's compatible.

I assume I use rockchip batch to flash the kernel & build. Will this give me a Rockchip SDK 2.0 firmware based ROM?

Yes, it is a SDK2.0 build. Instructions are included in the download pack. Just change the kernel in folder rockdev/Images before flash.

Dear Oma,

Flashed with CrewRKTablets_Xoro_PAD9719QR_JB_4.2.2_v1.0 using RK31_kernel_3036_hr_s6000_lenovo

All went well, however there is a problem with the screen actions. Long pressing anywhere simply rotates the screen - I can't move any of the icons. I updated Nova to v3 - no change. I can make long press work by disabling auto rotate - but would like to be able to auto rotate!

Otherwise seems smooth - 59fps and battery is being reported OK (so far).

Regards - Simon

You are a star!

That did the trick. Will do some more testing on the other problems that usually crop up (camera, Skype etc).

Have you and the crew ever thought about setting up your own brand of tablets? The concern for a lot of people buying chinese branded tablets is the lack of support/updates. Given that bulk purchase tablets from china go for at least $100 less than retail there's got to be some margin for profit. Also worth it just to irritate Apple!

Best regards - Simon
