ClockworkMod (CWM) Recovery easy install for RK3066 and RK3188 -- TWRP/CWM Flash-Tool and root for RK3288
 Please donate to support OMA and CrewRKTablets firmware work, thank you !
I think it's pretty similar to the V972, but with a thinner design. That may impacts the battery type they put in the tablet therefore the battery life.

Hi, I recently bought a v973.
It has a "V1" in the serial number.
I tried to install the kasty 2.0 and 2.3 firmware images (both v1 and v2) but keep running into the same problem. The touchscreen and accelerometer are "reversed". The tablet flips to the other way than I'm holding it, and touch is inverted across the long axis of the tablet.
Has anyone else had these problems, and if not, could you point me at the stock v973 firmware so I can recover?
Cheers.

I wouldn't know about how to fix those problems but I can point you to the latest firmware for the v973. It's v3.0 which was was released yesterday (14th)
http://www.onda-tablet.com/news/onda-v972-quad-core-tablet-pc-android4-2-v30-firmware/
You'll notice that it says it's for v972.. but the firmware will work for your v973 tablet as well as the V971, Onda V818 Mini, Onda V813/v812/v811/v801,Onda V712/V711
Make sure that you download the right firmware corresponding to your tablet which is v1.
Here's the one you should be downloading: http://pan.baidu.com/share/link?shareid=435449&uk=389436537
Have fun updating

I made the same experience: All firmwares for the V972 are flashable and runs fine on the V973 besides the screen is upside down (turned by 180°) and the touchscreen is also turned.
Edit: I have also a V973 with "V1" in the serial number.
I'm curious if this is also the case with the new firmware or we just have to wait till a V973-only-version is released.
Edit2: Here is the stock firmware 2.0 (Android 4.1.1) for the V973 in the case you must go back:

Yeah, the 3.0 firmware from kasty and onda has the same problem. I guess we have to wait for the 973 specific release.
Thanks for the link, at least I can use the tablet in the meantime! Also it's "good" we have the same problem, it means the firmware is the issue, not the hardware at least.

okay, I got the half way: The screen is correct now.
Thats what I do:
Download and flash http://www.arctablet.com/blog/forum/onda-v972/onda-v972-v1-hardware-android-4-2-2-jelly-bean-root-custom-firmware-v3-0-2013-05-14/
After reboot it gets a little complicated as the screen is upside down and the touchscreen orientation is not correct. I have managed it through the first time setup and get to the home screen. Then I enter "Settings" and activate under "Developer" the USB-Debugging.
Then I am able to enter the tablet via adb => adb shell
The file who is responsible for the sensor is /system/usr/gsensor.cfg
I did the following:
su
mount -ro remount,rw /system
cp /system/usr/gsensor.cfg /sdcard
Then I mount the sdcard to the PC and edit the file "gsensor.cfg" in detail the part after ";name:mma8452" to this:
;name:mma8452
;--------------------------
gsensor_name = mma8452
gsensor_direct_x = false
gsensor_direct_y = false
gsensor_direct_z = false
gsensor_xy_revert = true
Save gsensor.cfg and unmount the sdcard from the pc. In doubt pull out the usb-cable.
Reconnect the usb-cable, enter with "adb shell" and:
su
mount -ro remount,rw /system
cp /mnt/sdcard/gsensor.cfg /system/usr/
reboot
After the reboot the screen orientation is correct.
Now I have to find the touchscreen settings......
