Download: kasty-onda_v972_V2-422-v23beta-rooted6.zip

Flash with PhoenixSuite (tutorial)

Please report any problem with this firmware, I can't verify this custom firmware works as I don't have a Onda V972 (hardware V2) to test it.

So far it's working great.  It benchmarks slightly slower than previous versions, but I don't think that's an entirely accurate appraisal.  It's vastly smoother and less laggy than version 2.0 was.  And 3d games actually seem to run faster and smoother.

Only app that isn't working is google currents.  It installs fine but crashes.  Certainly not a deal breaker.

Many thanks for modifying it for us!

Thanks for your support Antioch Wink

I'll try to have a look at Google Currents if it still crashes on the "final" 2.3 firmware or whatever stable version Onda publishes.

Cheers.

Hi,

I've played with the Kasty v2.2 rom for my V2 tablet a bit now. Very pleased so far! There are a couple of issues I've discovered.

Not all of the apps that worked on v2.0 work on this one... nothing that I'm concerned about though!

There must be a video glitch somewhere because the mplayerpro display is awful with diagonal green lines. Not that I found it great in the v2 - the aspect ratio always seemed wrong.

BUT! A big BUT - Youtube works! AND even better TVCatchup is working and is great!!! So I would have binned mplayerpro anyway.

Testing stuff like battery life and will report back.

Great work!

I'd also like to say nice job on this one. The update to fix sync (or perhaps something else) resolved the lag and slowness issues I was seeing and this is by far the most stable and usable ROM yet. Seriously nice work.

One of my last remaining concerns is with what I perceive as 2d performance. There are a number of games in the store that aren't 3d, and trying to run them one finds them unplayable because they run at what seems to be roughly 1/3 speed. I'd really just be interested in some opinions here, but a couple example games:

Diamond Wonderland

Star Traders Elite

These work fine on old tablets, but not on this one -- they are simple games but are unplayable. Ive fiddled with lots of settings to no avail.

I think a lot of us are having this issue. I have two of these tablets that had it right out of the box with the stock firmware.  If someone can find a solution they would definitely earn a good donation from me.

To everyone out there having the "can't connect to camera" issue on the Onda v972 V2 we have a solution!!!

Apparently some tablets are mis-labeled as V2 but are in fact V1 tablets.  If you are having this issue flash to a V1 firmware.  This fixed the issue on two of my tablets.  Hopefully it will help someone else who was going crazy with this issue.

I highly recommend the Kasty 2.3 as the best firmware to date for this model, and I've tried at least 7 different versions in trying to fix this stupid camera issue, and none can compare.

Keep up the great work!!!!
