Hi all, thanks for a great forum.

I don't know if this is a fluke, or just plain luck, but I noticed under my battery life for the "mobile network signal" column I had short red and green lines off usage? as my Onda V972 is only WIFI connected I thought this was strange, I then tried below and bam...my battery life is almost doubled now!!

1-Switch on airplane mode and always leave the on (white airplane icon by battery and time top right)

2-Now switch on WIFI and connect, I always leave this on.

I have gone from 2-3 hours to 4-6 hours now? can anyone else confirm this.

Keep up the great work guys.

I am testing this theory now.  Would be great if it was that simple to increase battery life.

Did not see much differance in battery life after making the dpi changes. I was playing juggernaut last night and could only play for about 2 hours before I got the 15% warning.

I will try again with the airplane mode on tonight

I made the change at 78% and started watching a youtube video. In about twenty minutes it dropped from 78 to 63% battery.

I got about 45 more mins before i got the 15% warning. However i kept playing for an additional 20 min and it was at 14%. I think there is some weirdness with the battery gauge. It seems to drop really fast until about 40% then it does not drop as fast. I don't think we can make any determination without looking at the entire utilization of the battery.  Not even my test to 15% warning is definitive.

The point here is there is definitely an increase in battery life by putting it in airplane mode with wifi on. How much is yet to be determined

BTW i noticed no difference in performance or functionality with airplane mode on, so I ask myself Why not just leave it on?

Well, I downloaded and installed the new "V972Core4_v3.2.1_v1" rom. It behaves pretty much the same in performance compared to the previous rom. One of the new things I noticed is that there are some new options in the settings that I did not see in the previous version. Also, there's this photo of a cute Chinese woman in a white dress that's part of the boot up screen. But the one major thing I can attest to, is that this time around the battery holds it's charge a lot longer! that's right, the battery last longer! None of that rapid countdown drop on battery juice, now it lasts as long as it used to when the Onda 972 tablet first came out on the market.  With that said, I am still having some WiFi dropout issues, but I can still get around that by using the "Best WiFi Keeper PRO" app to help me alleviate that problem.

Can you tell how long the battery lasts now ?

@santolito

I also had WiFi issues with my CMX Clanga (Onda V972 Clone) with any firmware.
As I turned off WPS at my Router, the WiFi just became perfect!
I get the full 50/2,5 Mbps of my ISP in the whole flat.

Maybe you should give it a try.

Well, I have not really measured properly the time from a fully charged battery, but I can tell you that after upgrading to the new rom I had about a 72% battery charge level when I started to surf the web for about 1 hour and afterwards play a couple of 3D graphical intensive games for another 1 1/2 hours  before the battery charge dropped to about 35%.
