after bricking it with the firmware (corrupted boot picture), i'm trying to install latest root0, but USB does not recognize it anymore. windows7, now what?Â
solved: for those of you with the same issue, unistall phoenixsuite, reboot, reinstall again. v972 will be recognized again even if bricked

Can't say enough good about this forum.Â
You guys got my 972 working for 1.32 from a Feb image and its been perfect, except for the wifi [which leads to my actual question].
When do you guys anticipate having a non-chinese image out for 3.x/4.2.x?
I hope that sounds right. I'd rather wait a week and avoid the bleeding edge you all so gallantly approach...
Just too old these days...

ps- Onda should be kissing your feet [$$$] for providing a place for 972 q&a... justSayin'

The previous versions of TWRP are not compatible with this rom.
But... there is a new different version to be found here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=42962193&postcount=65
which is supposed to be compatible with the new 3.2 rom.
You can install manually by following the instructions on page one of that thread.
If it works OK on your tablet, please report back here so that Admin may eventually include it in Arctools if he is sure that it functions.

I am wondering if the problem comes from the modified boot logo. Can anyone test and report about this new custom firmware ? (knowing it can fail again)
kasty-onda_v972_v1-422-v32_20130704-rooted0.zip
Thank you.
Downloading last night, run smooth as described and battery life test Approx 25-30 minutes better*
Ps, Chinese girl is lovely but I'd like your boot logo...so how can I get rid of it? Thanks!

I have installed the new recovery TWRP 2.5.0.0 on rom 3.2 , it's working , run smooth and save battery life than rom 3.0
Battery drain does not appear to have improved any over the BETA 3.2.
Why is ONDA using cell phone firmware? Surely they have access to a Tablet source code? There are features in the Settings menu which should not even be there.
The device does not positively charge while on and in use. It just sits there without going up or down. Even with screen set to lowest brightness and setting the CPU speed slower than default and this is with a 2.1 amp charger. The 3.0 and lower firmwares did not have this issue.
When it does nothing the CPU seems to run at around 650 mHz.Â
If I set the CPU to 1200 it locks up.
If I set it to 1158 it locks up.
Does not lock up on the next lowest speed setting.
I have my wife still on 2.3 and all the apps set to NOT auto update. Her tablet crashed twice because of an app updating while in use. The first time she lost everything. The second time she only lost all the icons on her home screen. I might update her to 3.0 but no higher since she uses her tablet constantly.

The cell phone piece of the firmware is for the USB 3G

OK, what is USB 3G? I know what USB is. I know that 3G is a cell phone term for data speed. But putting the two together in the same sentence makes little sense. Does it have to do with the OTG?
