has anybody tested the HDMI output? Does it work?

In case it works: What resolution do you get, if it works? And is the output just the video, or like in 4.1 2.0 the full screen incl. status bar

HDMI works very well. You basically get a mirror image of your tablet display on the TV (or monitor) with proper aspect ratio.  Since the tablet display is not 16x9, you would therefore get two black bars on the sides of the TV. I haven't found a way to stretch it to fill up the screen. The good news is that the 4K player is the answer for videos. It actually plays the video independently on your TV, rather than just  a mirror image of tablet display. Once you got the video running you can browse your tablet for other videos without affecting the video on TV.  You can press the home key and work on other applications without stopping the video. You can even start playing another video with another video app while the video is being played on the TV. I wish there is a similar app for slideshow.

I would like to add my experience on this community.

I pre-ordered one Onda V972 mid December. Very happy with it. No Bluetooth, no 3G, no GPS. However it has excellent price/value index. I gave it to my godchild as Easter present. Still works with no issues. I ordered on February a V818 for my wife. No issues with it. I ordered an April one more V972 for me, hoping to get a V2 tablet. I got a V1 instead. Tried both onda ROMs and ArcTablet's custom rooted ROMs versions 1.35, 2.0 and 3.0 I was not able to connect to WiFi. I emailed Onda's support. They asked me to wait for final version of 4.2.2 that will solvw the issue. No luck. While in "Settings" app, trying to connect to WiFi I noticed that the device was turning off and back on the WiFi, without any input from me. I asked onda-tablet.com's support to give me an RMA number in order to return the tablet and get a new one. They didn't do it. They asked me to turn off all other wifi devices, do factory reset to tablet and router and so on... Probably in their next email they will ask me to pray on to cook beef with onions in order to get connected... Their support is terrible. Not to mention that I am still waiting for the HDMI cable that they promised for all pre-orders...

I flashed the ROM of this thread. Magic happened! It finally works! Multiuser also works if you just open a terminal, become super user (by using su command) and give the command "setprop fw.max_users 8". That simple! In the meanwhile I did some things that could help a little. There were:

1) I changed my WiFi's security from WEP to WAP2. Anyhow, WEP is not enough secure as it transmits the key in every frame...

2) Using an app called "WiFi Analyzer"  I noticed that on channel 6 that my router was communicating, an other WiFi near me was using the same channel. This definitely means, that my tablet has to read and reject many packets. So, I switched my router's channel to channel 1 that is free (at the time).

Bottom line is: You can save some money if you don't get an iPad or a Samsung tablet. But you have to have a lot of patience and knowledge to flash and tweak no name devices.

My respect to admin and his team for his effort.

Please HEEEEELP!

Wireless and camera doesn't work with v1 and v2 also.

When switching WI-FI On/Off button to ON position, after few seconds it comes back to OFF position automatically.

Any suggestions?

Hello Admin,

Thank you very much for a great Rom! Yesterday I try 20130522 and worked just fine for me (both wifi Wippies, Sierra / WPA2 Personal AES). Dolphin Beta smoother, Nova Launcher have some issue when I try to change drawer group name (I normally do that with no problem before) but is ok overall all great.

The 2 problems for me is Hacker's Keyboard was no letters shown and the backup (CWM-R) can't mount / recovery.

Today I will try 20130523 and will let you know with gratitude sending.

Thank you.

PS,  ONDA V972 / V.1

This trip with the v972 has been exceptionally frustrating. yes, the hardware is great.... that is the main reason that I had bought the v972. Generally speaking, the firmware has been worse than horrible. Even now with the v3.0 4.22 the Wi-Fi no longer functions and error messages pop up every few seconds. Previous firmware had been sloggy at every implementation, starting with v1.2 when I first purchased the unit. I have reported numerous errors and glitches and sometimes I am told towait for the new firmware. There really is no customer service as they've completely ignored the 3 request for  Rmas that I've sent to them. I've had a nexus 7 that's runs absolutely flawlessly with absolutely no issues at all. it is my go to device. I've noticed an improvement in the fluidity of the display in the latest firmware. some of my apps are running smoother, but the constant android.score error messages  just doesn't cut it. I realize that this isn't the final version, but it is really maddening. also 4 hours on battery charge also doesn't cut it. They're trying, but overall poor maddening experience especially when compared to my nexus 7.

I have no WIFI problems with V972, but I have noticed Kasty comes with the following default values in Advanced WIFI options:

Keep WIFI on during sleep is Always. This will make your battery last even less than the already horrible 3 hours. Every wise V972 user should put it to Never. After sleep WIFI reconnects automatically in a few seconds.

WIFI optimization is on. The only way for Android to optimize the WIFI power consumption is to turn it off every time Android thinks it is not needed, and this may cause disconnections and error messages. I would recommend to keep it off.

Also, we must be aware of V972's WIFI limitations. It has obviously no 5Ghz capability, and no wide channel (40 Mhz) capabilities. As V972 has normally to share WIFI with PCs, make sure your AP is configured in a way that is compatible with both tablets and PCs. In my case, I use a simultaneous dual band AP, and I use 5Mhz for PCs and 2.4Mhz for tablets, so that V972 does not have to fight for bandwith with PCs. 100 bucks will buy you a pretty decent dual band AP-

I had two problems yesterday with this new 3.0.

1. System reset itself and took forever to boot back up. When it came back up it was back to square one. I had to restore all my apps.

2. While using IMDB app all of a suddent the tablet flashed up a low battery warning and shut itself off. It was at 95% when it happened.

Hi, I'm using this latest custom firmware update, the major problem is enormous battery drain. After full charges I switched the tablet off (not shut it down) and after about two days the battery totally empty. Really sad. Waiting eagerly for this to be solved. Thanks for improving what manufacturer don't.

My Onda V972 V1 32GB is performing much better with the latest ROM here. Thanks Admin. I have tried every versions of ROM as and when they are released. I always use full wipe in PhonixSuit just to make sure that I have a clean start each time. Every time I do a wipe the whole of my 32GB storage (not just the system partition) would be wiped out! So all my songs, pics etc. are gone each time. Is this normal for this device or am I doing something wrong? Any advice would be much appreciated.

I not to sure what your saying, but do you mean your 32GB micro card gets wiped ?, if this is the case, I take card out before firmware up-date, then just simply put it back when all is up to speed again  🙂
