Admin, your work is good and appreciated by all. In general -- and based on this ROM -- I think the last 'beta' was better for me. Maybe whoever released this ROM made some mods that did not take into account the last improvements, leading me to believe it was done by a different person or group.Â
While this version fixed some of the video player stuff, I notice the cellular indicator has reappeared and that certain of my apps run more slowly or problematically:
Dolphin browser ran very smoothly in the 4.2.2 beta, while this version shows page filling in as I scroll towards the page bottom. It was silky smooth in the previous version.
Flipboard, inside articles, flips pages with a very annoying flash the first time each page is flipped. In the last beta there was a little bit of this, but not nearly so pronounced.
Many 2d apps still run very slowly, old simple games like star traders.
Each time I have completely wiped and reloaded with Phoenix, and don't believe I have any hardware problems.
I think my lesson learned -- buying these Chinese tablets is a bit of a crap shoot. I've looked at reviews for all of them, and while there is savings to be had each suffers from similar quirks. Unfortunately I really like the 9.7" ratio and not many mainstream tabs use this ratio.
There was some talk about this tab being rebranded and sold by Archos, and I would think it would have a good ROM -- anyone have any info on that?
So in conclusion -- no criticism at all for Admin's work. It is top notch and appreciated. But these Chinese ROMs can't possibly be getting certified by Google, especially at their rate of release. Buyer beware.

For people wondering it seem like it's definitively a legit release...
Look for example at one of their latest product on their official website, and more precisely at the download link for the firmwares:
http://www.onda.cn/Tablet/ProductInfo.aspx?ProductId=252&d=down
It links to the ondafae account.
Looks like they have ceased to use mydrivers for hosting their firmwares for some reason.

Hmm I'll be very disappointed if the final version doesn't have multi user support - this is one of the main advantages of 4.2!

I have updated post #1Â and published a new firmware update with the following changes:
- Edit 2013/05/17: changed permissions on external sdcard to allow write access
- Edit 2013/05/17: added new Google Play Store fixes so more application are visible/compatible
(there are still some apps that are not visible or compatible, we are working on a better fix)
Â
Hi, are you planning these improvements on your V2 version?
Thanks,
Paul
Â
Paul,
I am planning to replicate those changes to the V972 hardware V2 firmware, I'll take care of that when time permits.
Cheers.
