Anyone else experiencing WiFi dropouts on this firmware? I'm finding that my WiFi connection keeps dropping and I have to turn off WiFi and back on again to sustain a connection for another few minutes. My 972 is V1 16GB and I flashed (twice) using Pheonix and V972Core4-V1_v2.0.img

The same is happening right beside the router so definitely not signal strenght. I didn't notice any wireless issue on the previous 1.35 stock rom.

Apart from that this rom is great, very slick, no freezing , if the WiFi kept working it would be ideal!

WiFi has been fine for me using Kasty v2 and Chinese 2.0.1 update

I seem to have fixed the wifi issue i was having.

I noticed on the Ondabbs site there is an update to do with WiFi -  ONDA972-UPDATE-1.35.2.zip which I installed as a local update to Kasty.

WiFi is working great now.

Only changes that I can see are that the customer boot logo is gone and I had to change the language back to English UK but apart from that all other settings were saved and its all working fine.

Just out of curiosity, what is the actual difference between V1 and V2 on hardware.

Tommy at techballoon365 says that v2 has not been released yet. He could be wrong. I recently purchased the v972 and it was v1. Just ordered one for my wife and will check to see if hers is v1 or v2. Suspect hers will be v1 like mine.

I to have a v972 V1 16gb tablet which I recently upgraded to the official V972Core4-V1_v2.0 firmware. Now, just like you said,...I also have started to have some really bad WiFi dropouts since upgrading to this latest firmware. I to had to turn off WiFi and back on again to try to squeeze a few more moments of erratic internet connections from my WiFi modem. There were a bunch of times where I had to re-start an app download from the play store due to a sudden WiFi disconnect.

Now, I came across this little nifty app called "Best WiFi Keeper PRO". Once I purchased it (99 cents) and downloaded/installed it on my v972 tablet, I launch the Best WiFi Keeper PRO app, activate it so it can do what it is supposed to do, which is keep the tablet's WiFi connection working at all times and make sure it stays that way. And you know what?......IT WORKS!!!

I no longer have those pesky WiFi disconnects. My WiFi connection is so good now, I was able to download 15 apps back to back without so much a single connection hiccup! So yes, I highly recommend this Best WiFi Keeper PRO app if you are having the chronic WiFi dropout problem after upgrading to the V972Core4-V1_v2.0 firmware.

That's strange, I do not experience any wifi problems with version 2.0. WiFi performance is ok, I get the same internet speed as my desktop computer.

May be we have small hardware differences? It is strange for a firmware to work fine on a tablet and not very well on another one that is exactly the same...

I've had kasty v972 v1 v2.0 installed for a while, but I still have app problems in PLAY store.

I have seen an update v2.0.1 which I have downloaded, but cannot install, because Program verify fails.

I further discovered that v2.0.1 requires stock v972 v1 v2.0 to be installed.

So my question is?

Can v2.0.1 be put on over kasty v1 v2.0, if so how.

Also cannot install stock firmware using phoenix suite, as it states nothing to update.

Tried powering off, holding home button, while pressing power button 10 times, but cannot get into recovery mode.Yell

HELP!!!!!Cry

2.0.1 cannot be installed on anything except stock. It is looking for stock files and apps that have been removed in Kasty rom.

Phoenixsuite can be finicky.  Make sure you are doing it properly. Load phoenixsuite, select firmware. (do not click upgrade)

start with powered off tablet. If your not sure it is powered off hold power button for 10 secs it should power off. If it powers on then press it for 10 secs again and it should be powered off.

With the usb cable disconnected from your tablet but connected to your pc. Press and hold the home button, While still holding the home button plug the micro usb cable ito your tablet. While still holding the home button press the power button 5 times. then release all you should see phoneixsuite prompt for a format install or regular install

if you do not have the drivers correctly installed phoenixsuite will not detect the tablet and will just sit there.

You know what, now that some of you here are saying that the reported WiFi dropout problem is not happening, while some of us other people (myself, churada, ...?) are or were indeed experiencing the said WiFi problem, just brings me to an interesting, quite possible conclusion: That maybe while the v972 tablet with the new firmware is behaving well with some WiFi modem/router brands or models, it might not be doing so well with certain, other brands of WiFi modems or routers.

This is starting to look like a more plausible explanation. I think it would be a good idea if maybe a WiFi hardware compatibility list by brand and model were to be established by Onda. Since I was one of the guys here who came forward with this WiFi dropout problem with my v972 tablet after upgrading to the new v2.0 firmware, I guess I will report my brand and model of my WiFi modem to start this WiFi hardware capability list: I have the Motorola SBG900 cable WiFi modem.

I guess the best way to be sure if it's really your home's WiFi that's the issue and not your tablet, is to take your tablet to some public WiFi hotspot like a WiFi equipped restaurant or library, and check to see if your tablet is able to connect to their WiFi signal without dropouts.

I'm guessing it is indeed the tablet's firmware problem because supposedly it was working before the upgrade. But it is also possible this is a compatibility issue caused by the new firmware.

My WiFi router is a very bad one: ZTE VXV10. I have some problems with cellphones and tablets far from the router, but not if they are in the same room.

I also suggest changing encryption to WPA (instead of WPA2) and shutdown any router firewalls. Changing to 802.11 B+G (instead of B+G+N) can also help. Maybe a workaround can solve this problem.

Like I said before, I'm not having any WiFi problems with onda and my ZTE VXV10 (with WPA and B+G+N).

My 972 has been running much slower than normal. When I first installed Kasty 2.0 it was a snap but now it takes seconds to launch an app or wake it up. I am using Apex Pro as the launcher.

Internet is SLOWWWWW. Right next to the router even. Router is on Channel 11.I loaded Best Wifi Keeper Pro and there is no change. YouTube videos start and stop. I find free WIFI Fixer is better. Much improved youtube performance.

It locks up at 1152 or 1200 mhz. Running it at 1114 mhz currently. Using ANTUTU CPU app. I loaded No Frills CPU Control and am running 1152 mhz flawlessly.

Several apps seem to launch themselves in the background. Amazon Appstore, Chrome, Aptoide, Winamp, Gmail and Google Search.

I've installed kasty v972 v1 v2.0 rooted3 and things appear ok.

The one problem is that the tablet is for the wife, but she will not use it until the play store is more compatible.

The app is ASDA, which she uses for shopping.

The app works on a CUBE U30GT.

Any help would be appreciated

Try looking for "ASDA apk" on Google and install directly using apk package.

I found ASDA apk on http://www.4shared.com/get/cx7dZTzi/Asda-3.html;jsessionid=E04EF2B392CEB7859C5189CC10111DDC.dc322. I am not sure if it's the last version. Download the file, send to the tablet via USB and install using file manager.

Just because an app is incompatible in Google play, that does not mean it will not work.
