I read in the xda forum that there is a fix for the force closing of the google aps that sync.
Update - problem solved by replacing contact.provider.apk with a patched version . Link http://db.tt/3x6GdC7i
I have not tried it yet getting my apps backed up now and will try it in a few.Â

Well, I guess after reading this entire thread and especially the posts from admin and dasmarian, I think it will be more prudent for me to stick with the current V972 Quad Core_v2.0 version firmware for now until an official final tested and tried stock firmware of Android 4.2.2 gets officially released and published. Even though the Android 4.1 firmware has YouTube and Play Store issues right now, to me it's better to have those than to trade them with constant forced closes and some of the other new performance problems that are being associated with this latest firmware.
If there are no news about a final version of the Android 4.2.2 firmware for the Onda 972 firmware tonight, I'll probably rebuild our custom firmware with the fix for the FCÂ supplied by msav.
Cheers.

Hi,
It's my first post here!
I tried the beta and went back to the stock v2.0 after experiencing all the error messages. Had a problem with the tablet constantly auto re-starting but finally got into recovery mode and flashed back. Phew! I'm a novice here and thought I'd bricked it!
It's a v2 model so would you consider looking into that firmware??
Thanks,
Paul
Hello Paul,
Knowing that Onda should soon release a final version of their Android 4.2.2 firmware, at the moment I don't have planning to do a custom work for the current beta firmware on the V972 hardware V2 (and up)

- This is NO Onda "Beta" firmware, or something *official*, just a chinese "Custom-Rom".
- Hardware Acceleration doesn't work, like in all Cyanogen/Aokp/whatever Roms.
- WARNING: Don't install TWRP/CWM from the 2.0 Firmwares. This Rom has a different partition table. I have ported TWRP to this Rom, but it can't mount internal sdcard, otherwise it works. But I will not investigate further, because this Rom is far away from usable...
- If it hangs on boot/bootloop/etc., you have to fiddle with the Power+Home buttons, because a long press (10sec.) on the power button, doesn't shut down the device like before, but forces a reboot.
Fazit: Only recommended for heavy tinkerers...

I really like this firmware. Â besides not being able to install recovery . Â i find it really stable, i have been playing dungeon hunter 4 for the past 4 hours. and it is faster , less lag, than with 2.0 firmware.
It is not uncommon for android versions to change the partition table , they generally need to provision more space for the os, or other reasons. It is not the first time i have had to deal with it going from one version of android to the other.Â
I believe it is a leak of the official version due out later this week. there is no way someone made this firmware without the source code and allwinner a31 knowledge. it is way too good for a first attempt at android 4.2 from an independent developer.Â
just my .02
BTW i think i accidentally fixed the android acore stopped problem. Â all i had done was change my dpi to 240 in the buld.prop. i have not had it pop up since.
Can you please give a link to the firmware you are referring to.
Cheers.

Please release a build for the V2 hardware. This beta build seems to run much better on the v2 hardware but all these Chinese apps are driving me crazy.
I'll contribute toward your work, just let me know what you think is fair.
Cheers!
Running an Onda v972 V2 that is actually a V1 (even stock V2 FW doesn't work) Updated to a Samsung Galaxy Note 2014 now. Â Working as a data recovery engineer at Data Medics data recovery company. Â Here's my homepage. Â If you have a data recovery issue with your tablet PM me. Â I'm not here too often so I might not see a topic reply.
