has somebody tried to install the 97 Platinum hardware in the 972? In theory they are both the same hardware.
The guys from HTCmania managed to install it via recovery but the camera and internal SD don't work (http://www.htcmania.com/showthread.php?t=615583)

That's surprise there are some hardware changes as the 97 Platinum really look alive the Onda V972, but well, the firmware test seem to proove there are some modifications
Still, I'm not sure it's really worth using Archos firmware, as it's quite outdated compared to latest on the Onda. The only advantage I could think of is having the Archos Video Player, that's included in the Platinum firmware, but are probably other ways to get it to run, or buy it on Google Play Store.

Problem solved with the internal SD, all I had to do was editing /etc/vold/fstab and replacing this line
dev_mount sdcard /mnt/sdcard auto /devices/virtual/block/nand1
for this one
dev_mount sdcard /mnt/sdcard auto /devices/virtual/block/nandj
nandj is the 11GB partition in the internal memory.
The rom works really really well so far and doesn't use so much memory as the 4.2.2
The only one problem to solve is the camera now
The cameras are already operating
