The folks over at Onda-tablet.com posted this interesting bit of info concerning the next firmware release for all of their recent model tablets. It seems that according to the Onda factory, the next firmware update called "Android 4.2.2 V2.3" will be ready for download on May 15th. This new firmware will be for the following Onda tablets:
Onda V973 / V972 / V971
Onda V818 Mini
Onda V813 / V812 / V811 / V801
Onda V712 / V711
I don't know about you all, but I sure hope this time around they finally ironed out all of those nagging kinks from the previous firmware that a lot of us here have been bitching for the past few weeks.
Oh yea, here's the source to this story link that proves I am not on crack: http://www.onda-tablet.com/news/onda-tablet-quad-core-android-firmware-will-release-on-may15/Â

Hi there, I saw this up-date this morning by http://www.onda-tablet.com/news - Now the interesting thing is this. Â I was told by the Admin on http://forums.zzkko.com that you and others are not the official Onda forum, these are the correct ones to Onda up-dates (see below)
Find latest news and updates at http://www.onda.cn/ÂDiscuss Onda products at http://forums.zzkko.com/forum/48-onda/Plus the site apparently have a FaceBook page.  I've noticed after people & I post on these sites nobody comes back to us.  I think this site & the link below is excellent, first to the jump, keep the good work up.  I will up-date my Onda v972 v1 to the new v3.0 from here tonight when i get in from work.  One small complaint, the battery life on my v972 is terrible, just surfing playing a bit of angry birds & it dies after 2 hrs, whats up with that.

This is just an addition to my earlier post about successfully upgrading my V972 v1 to the latest official Onda firmware release. I thought that I would also let you know that I have also managed to root the tablet using the same technique detailed here.
After rooting the unit I have removed the following apps:
- AnZhi.apk
- Browser.apk
- kwplayer.apk
- LetvAndroidPadClient.apk
- QQ.apk
- SohuTV.apk
- UCBrowser.apk
- ZBoupengHD.apk (Which I think is Opera HD but I could not change it from Chinese?)
Does anyone have any suggestions for other packages that could be considered bloat and can be removed?
