Here is a new Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update for the Onda V813 tablet (hardware V1) based on latest Onda firmware release version 3.2. This update brings many enhancements such as a faster boot (5 seconds !) smoother system and a reduced power consumption in stand-by mode.

Firmware build information:

Linux Kernel:  Linux version 3.3.0 (lgm@SzExdroid5) (gcc version 4.6.3 20120201 (prerelease) (crosstool-NG linaro-1.13.1-2012.02-20120222 - Linaro GCC 2012.02) ) #1 SMP PREEMPT Tue Jun 18 12:27:17 CST 2013

Android system: onda/fiber_onda804q9/fiber-onda804q9:4.2.2/JDQ39/20130625:eng/opinions-on-teclast-p90hdst-keys

Our rooted custom firmware features:

  • root with latest SuperSU 1.34 (free version)
  • system default setup English
  • removed most Chinese and unnecessary applications
  • Google Play Store fixes so more application are visible/compatible
  • updated busybox¬†v1.21.0.git (2012-11-29)
  • Unix like¬†init.d boot scripts support, more details on init.d scripts¬†here
  • changed permissions on external sdcard to allow write access

Download: kasty-onda_v813_v1-422-v32_20130625-rooted.zip

Flash with PhoenixSuite (tutorial)

After flashing the tablet, a Setup Wizard should display on first boot to configure your network, regional settings, etc… If the wizard does not appear, just disconnect your USB cable from the tablet, make a short press on the power button to turn off the screen. After the screen is turned of, press the power button for a short time again to power the tablet, the Setup wizard should appear.

Please report any problem with this firmware, I can't verify this custom firmware works as I don't have a Onda V813 (hardware V1) to test it.

Hello Admin,

thanks for your work.

I can confirm that that all seems OK on flashing the new 3.2.

There are dome strange issues though

I tried to make a backup after from Arctools/TWRP (V812 version which has worked fine up to now) and at the end of the TWRP backup, it said that permissions were broken?

Once rebooted, quite a few apps won't work, settings have been wiped and wifii is turned off and can't be turned on - it just says 'turning on wifi.... but nothing is happening.

I will have to reflash or go back to a previous save for the time being.

I hope this is useful.

Pingu

There are some known incompatibilities with recent Onda firmwares and custom recoveries such as CWM-R and TWRP, I don't recommend using them until it's confirmed to be fixed.

Cheers.

thanks for your quick answer. Now reflashed and all is well.

It will be nice to have a means of backup and recovery sometime.

I just installed the latest v3.2

(note to get a 5 sec boot you have to click the quick boot check box after the 1st time u pwr off)

Onda V813 (V1 hardware) Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean root custom firmware V3.2 (2013-06-25)

and in the system/app directory it is still missing the std

Contacts.apk

GoogleContactsSyncAdapter.apk

Does anyone know where you can get the correct version that is compatible with this release ???

Also assuming I can find the right Contacts.apx for 4.2.2 how do you create the People home screen short cut

I can confirm that the clockwork mod install thru arc tools app is not working. It will brick the tablet (gets stuck on the Allwinner logo) or reset it to new (katsy rom). I was able to get into clock work mod sub menus but upon selecting the option to reboot, it reboots back to new (katsy rom). Or when i select the option to reboot from the arctools app it will get stuck rebooting (Allwinner logo) or reset back to the katsy rom setup. I must have reflashed my tablet like 5 times already!

It seems that there is a new/another version of TWRP out which works with the new version 3.2 ROMs.

Ankar48 has pointed me to the thread on XDA developers site which has the new version.

I don't know how to install this on my V813 though. Is this possible? If so, would it be possible via Arctools at some point Admin??

THanks for your reply.

Unfortunately, I have tried that with no success. I tried Goo and SManager and none could 'see' the script file.

I will try again - maybe I missed something.

It would be great if someone could take care of making a topic about latest TWRP update for firmware 3.2 in the general Onda section. From that topic, I would need direct TWRP version used with link for the source and download url together with test reports from users that everything works fine with firmware 3.2 on each different Onda models. This test requires TWRP to be installed "manually", not thru ArcTools.

Once this is complete, I'll make sure to include the new TWRP recovery in ArcTools.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Admin, thanks for your response.

I will try to do this.

Unfortunately I need some help/advice with the manual installation on my V813.

Using script manager, I get "can't execute: permission denied"

Can someone point me in the right direction in how I enable permission?

Sorry if this is a basic question but......

Hi... does anyone know the changes made to the stock FW amber refers to? Also is anyone aware of a custom FW in the making based on that 3.2 (2013-07-03) version.

Sorry if I am out of the loop but I have not long upgraded to an 813 from a ainol venus. The venus forum at ZZKKO was very active but I am not finding much happening "Onda-wise". Maybe I have been looking in the wrong places. Laugh

Hello,

Past days have been pretty busy with building custom firmwares.
I've been mentioning that a couple of times already, firmwares for new tablet models are done in priority for devices where we have supporting users or high demand from the public.
Cheers.
