Here is a custom firmware based on official Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update for the Onda V811 (hardware V1) tablet.

Firmware build information

Linux Kernel:  Linux version 3.3.0 (lgm@SzExdroid5) (gcc version 4.6.3 20120201 (prerelease) (crosstool-NG linaro-1.13.1-2012.02-20120222 - Linaro GCC 2012.02) ) #28 SMP PREEMPT Tue May 21 11:51:35 CST 2013

Android system: onda/fiber_onda809q9d/fiber-onda809q9d:4.2.2/JDQ39/20130523:eng/opinions-on-teclast-p90hdst-keys

Common revision history for firmware V3.0 on Onda tablets (Google translate from Chinese) :

  1. Android 4.2.2 upgrade to version
  2. optimize the user experience, more responsive and smooth trolley
  3. brand new unlocked clock interface, display more beautiful
  4. new left and right pair of pull-down menu function, more convenient operation
  5. New increasing Day Dream screen saver function, Tablet PC can do a digital photo frame
  6. optimized 4K player that supports HDMI output with different screen display / different display function
  7. optimize system startup speed
  8. optimize the photographic effect, improving the camera snapshot function

Our rooted custom firmware features:

  • root with latest SuperSU 1.30 (free version)
  • system default setup English
  • removed most Chinese and unnecessary applications
  • Google Play Store fixes so more application are visible/compatible
  • updated busybox¬†v1.21.0.git (2012-11-29)
  • Unix like¬†init.d boot scripts support, more details on init.d scripts¬†here
  • changed permissions on external sdcard to allow write access

Flash with PhoenixSuite (tutorial)

After flashing the tablet, a Setup Wizard should display on first boot to configure your network, regional settings… If the wizard does not appear, just disconnect your USB cable from the tablet, make a short press on the power button to turn off the screen. After the screen is turned of, press the power button for a short time again to power the tablet, the Setup wizard should appear.

Please report any problem with this firmware, I can't verify this custom firmware works as I don't have a Onda V811 to test it.

Thanks df186 for his support.

This is for the quad core version, not for the dual core v811 right?

Hmmm, yea it looks like Onda has the great idea to keep the same name for dual and quad-core tablets Confused

I've add the quad-core mention in the topic title, I hope it's more clear for everybody now.

@admin thanks a million for this post, this has made my v811 core4 from crap to a useable/ more stable device.

however slow wifi download remains ex. slow play store app. downloads, facebook photo loadup times etc.

could you offer a solution to this problem.
