Here is latest Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update for the Onda V811 quad-core tablet (hardware V1) based on newest Onda firmware release version 3.2 dated 2013/07/01. This firmware actually uses the same version number as previous Onda release, but the build dates for kernel and Android system are more recent. It's very possible that previous firmware released in June was a pre-release and this new 3.2 is a final release.

Compared to firmware version 3.0 or older, this update brings many enhancements such as a faster boot (5 seconds !) smoother system and a reduced power consumption in stand-by mode.

Build information:

Linux Kernel:  Linux version 3.3.0 (lgm@SzExdroid5) (gcc version 4.6.3 20120201 (prerelease) (crosstool-NG linaro-1.13.1-2012.02-20120222 - Linaro GCC 2012.02) ) #1 SMP PREEMPT Fri Jun 28 17:45:08 CST 2013

Android system: onda/fiber_onda809q9d/fiber-onda809q9d:4.2.2/JDQ39/20130701:eng/opinions-on-teclast-p90hdst-keys

Our rooted custom firmware features:

  • root with latest SuperSU 1.41 (free version)
  • system default setup English
  • removed most Chinese and unnecessary applications
  • Google Play Store fixes so more application are visible/compatible
  • updated busybox¬†v1.21.0.git (2012-11-29)
  • Unix like¬†init.d boot scripts support, more details on init.d scripts¬†here
  • changed permissions on external sdcard to allow write access

Download: kasty-onda_v811_v1-422-v32_20130701-rooted0.zip

Flash with PhoenixSuite (tutorial)

After flashing the tablet, a Setup Wizard should display on first boot to configure your network, regional settings, etc… If the wizard does not appear, just disconnect your USB cable from the tablet, make a short press on the power button to turn off the screen. After the screen is turned of, press the power button for a short time again to power the tablet, the Setup wizard should appear.

This custom firmware has not yet been tested on the Onda V811 tablet (hardware V1 model)

I had the same problem, but fixed it by powering off, holding the home and power buttons simultaneously until the tablet boots into boot menu, and then selecting the clear cache option (touch screen for option). Tablet will automatically reboot. After that, have not had anymore problems with WiFi.
