Hi just thought I will give a small review of this tab as I have had it for a month now. Build quality is very good, works from out of the box, bluetooth and gps work fine. Uses a mico sim card phone function works fine but cannot get just a data sim to work but will work with a normal phone sim with data. speed of the tab is good and smooth operation, video play back and picture quality is good, have been looking for custom firmware but no luck as of yet I would recommend this tablet.

I've recived my tablet today.

I flashed V819 3G_v1.03_v1 ROM , but it's 4.2.2 JB !

I've downloaded it from onda site...

When they will give us KitKat for our Onda?

EDIT:

Does anyone tried to change partitions? I saw some instructions...

follow the procedure outlined in the tutorial - flashing new firmware with Phoenix suite

http://www.arctablet.com/blog/featured/phoenixsuit-flashing-tutorial-onda-v972-v812-allwinner-a31-tablets/

It is important to follow each step precisely.

Actually the procedure above is made for Allwinner A31(s) based devices and shouldn't work on the Onda V819 3G which is MTK8389 based.

nick789uk, you should look for MTK (Mediatek) specific flashing instruction. I don't have any particular one to recommend so far.

Cheers.

Ah OK, if it does not work with phoenix suite, surely it does with the later Ondasuite. Only problem is that it is all in Chinese language so a little difficult for non Chinese speakers to follow. It is not so different to Phoenix suite, you just need to work it out....

Here is the link for the latest firmware from the Onda site - V819 3G_v1.03_v1.rar

http://pan.baidu.com/s/1Cco59

here is the direct link for the previous version if that one does not work/download - V819 3G_v1.0.2_v1.rar

http://pan.baidu.com/s/1ntFeh9v

The installation software usually comes in the same zip folder as the firmware)

here is Ondasuite 2.03.00 on its own in any case

http://pan.baidu.com/s/1dDmUReh

hope that helps

Ok have down loaded the latest firmware  V819 3G_v1.03_v1.rar and unzipped it it does have the flash tool in closed with it but I do not have a clue on how to flash my tab any instructions a walk through would be most helpful. I have flashed with Phoenix suite before but don't have a clue with this or am I just being thick;-) don't answer that, any help would be greatfully appreciated  thanks.

It seems pretty similar to me. I have just installed the Ondasuite without any problems.

Once installed, the flash firmware tab is the 5th along.

There is also a Word document help file in the zip folder which is all in Chinese.

I have attached it to this message - I hope it will open.

I had to change the name of the file in order to open it. I think Word may have a problem with the Chinese characters in the file name.

Anyway, once open, copy and paste all the text into google translate and you will get a good idea of how to flash the firmware.

good luck

Hi, i just bought onda v819 3G and onda v975 and i am very very pleased with what i got!! I am watching this forum for a long time before i even make the order of the tablets but as for update with custom roms or official roms not even one said guys this is how we do it. I do not know maybe i did not see it i did find it. Do not know. But i come to this. I have so many roms, but i do not know if there are for my tablet. for example i want to update to kitkat 4.4 BUT no one says if its only for 819 mini or 819 3G. i suppose recovery mode does not exist bz its ssssooooooooooo much easier. And last i did not get it with the trick connect cable pressed power button and so and so.. :) maybe i am stupid. nevermind, if!!? someone could do a post for v819 3G for as people that we are noobs with such chinese technology but not so noob with nexus and other like this brands. plz help us because i see that many people are asking about kitkat or about how to flash a rom and which rom can i use.
I am really sorry if i asked all these questions but i want to learn and as you know onda does not care so much
thx in advance!!
