Hi just thought I will give a small review of this tab as I have had it for a month now. Build quality is very good, works from out of the box, bluetooth and gps work fine. Uses a mico sim card phone function works fine but cannot get just a data sim to work but will work with a normal phone sim with data. speed of the tab is good and smooth operation, video play back and picture quality is good, have been looking for custom firmware but no luck as of yet I would recommend this tablet.
Here you have everything what is needed If you have any question just write...
follow the procedure outlined in the tutorial - flashing new firmware with Phoenix suite
It is important to follow each step precisely.
Actually the procedure above is made for Allwinner A31(s) based devices and shouldn't work on the Onda V819 3G which is MTK8389 based.
nick789uk, you should look for MTK (Mediatek) specific flashing instruction. I don't have any particular one to recommend so far.

Ah OK, if it does not work with phoenix suite, surely it does with the later Ondasuite. Only problem is that it is all in Chinese language so a little difficult for non Chinese speakers to follow. It is not so different to Phoenix suite, you just need to work it out....
Here is the link for the latest firmware from the Onda site - V819 3G_v1.03_v1.rar
here is the direct link for the previous version if that one does not work/download - V819 3G_v1.0.2_v1.rar
The installation software usually comes in the same zip folder as the firmware)
here is Ondasuite 2.03.00 on its own in any case
hope that helps
Ok have down loaded the latest firmware V819 3G_v1.03_v1.rar and unzipped it it does have the flash tool in closed with it but I do not have a clue on how to flash my tab any instructions a walk through would be most helpful. I have flashed with Phoenix suite before but don't have a clue with this or am I just being thick;-) don't answer that, any help would be greatfully appreciated thanks.
It seems pretty similar to me. I have just installed the Ondasuite without any problems.
Once installed, the flash firmware tab is the 5th along.
There is also a Word document help file in the zip folder which is all in Chinese.
I have attached it to this message - I hope it will open.
I had to change the name of the file in order to open it. I think Word may have a problem with the Chinese characters in the file name.
Anyway, once open, copy and paste all the text into google translate and you will get a good idea of how to flash the firmware.
