Here is a rooted custom firmware for the FNF iFive X2 tablet based on official version 1.1.8

(ifiveX2_FW422_V1.1.8_UI2.5_OTA_09161500.rar)

Build information:

Linux Kernel: Linux version 3.0.36+ (root@five-server2) (gcc version 4.6.x-google 20120106 (prerelease) (GCC) ) #30 SMP PREEMPT Wed Sep 11 17:25:08 CST 2013

Android build: IFive/rk30sdk/rk30sdk:4.2.2/JDQ39/eng.root.20130916.144023:eng/opinions-on-teclast-p90hdst-keys

Custom firmware features:

  • root with latest SuperSU version 1.60 (free version)
  • removed most Chinese and unnecessary applications
  • Google Play Store fixes so more application are visible/compatible
  • updated busybox v1.21.0.git (2012-11-29)
  • Unix like init.d boot scripts support, more details on init.d scripts here
  • changed permissions on external sdcard to allow write access
  • increased space for applications (/data partition) to 4 GB
  • removed iFive launcher, replaced with Android 4.2 AOSP stock launcher from here
  • NEW! kernel modules (cifs, tun, lan, serial, xpad) compiled by Oma & Crew RKTablets, thank guys!

Download: kasty-fnf_ifive_x2-422-118-rooted4c.zip

Use Rockchip Batch Tool version 1.7 to flash the firmware, don't flash using the "sdcard" method.

Please report any problem with this firmware, I can't verify this custom firmware works as I don't have an iFive X2 to test it.

Thanks Cel1971 for the tip Wink

Edit: Initial release of our custom firmware had some problems while flashing, it has been fixed now, all posts related to flashing issues have been move here.

v1.1.8 is by far the best firmware. Touchscreen responsiveness is great(past versions have some issues when you try to scroll or drag), screen-on delay is almost gone(yay!)

Hello,

How much the available RAM with this firmware?

if it is as previous one around 650MB only, How to increase it?

I heard that in chuwi v88 and Pipo Pro7, the available RAM is more than 1GB.

I've had slight flickering issue with this rom, using some apps like stock search for example. Most visible in white areas, i've seen the same happening with firefox on another rom on ifive x2.

Flashed the firmware with no problem.  Keep up the great work.

BTW... does anyone have the official Vine app working?  The Vine app videos play with audio only; the video screen is just black.

Hi all,

I'm new to flashing custom rom and I need to make sure that may tablet would brick once I do this.

Does it need the tablet to be rooted if I flash the ROM using Rockchip Batch Tool?

Or I will just run the Rockchip Batch Tool and flash the ROM?

Thanks

There seems to be a bug in the rom. I use my tablet to play music with a bluetooth speaker. But the sound stops when the screen goes to sleep. If I wake up the tablet, I still cannot play music through bluetooth until I turn my bluetooth speaker off and back on. I didn't have this problem with the original rom.

Works very well. But i have big problems with the video players - they all don´t use the Mali 400 GPU in the right way. The GPU is able to play AVCHD direct from a camcorder on the screen or to HDMI. I works with players like the 2160p Gallery. The org. Video-Player from ifive can do it too. MX Player fail.

Is it possible to build a firmware with the org. Videoplayer?

Hello Holger,

Here is the music and video player applications from the stock firmware:

kasty-fnf_ifive_x2-422-118-rooted4c_FiveMusicVideo.zip

Just unzip and install them as regular Android APK or install them as system applications by copying the APK files to /system/app directory (using a File Explorer app with root access such as ES File Explorer File Manager)

then reboot your tablet.

Cheers.
