Here is a rooted custom firmware for the FNF iFive 2S tablet based on official version 1.0.5

(ifive2S_FW_411_V1.0.5.zip)

Build information:

Linux Kernel: Linux version 3.0.36+ (root@five-server) (gcc version 4.4.3 (GCC) ) #422 SMP PREEMPT Thu May 23 15:09:50 CST 2013

Android build: IFive/rk30sdk/rk30sdk:4.1.1/JRO03H/ifive.Quad-Core.20130417.175843:eng/ifive-keys

Custom firmware features:

  • root with latest SuperSU 1.30 (free version)
  • removed most Chinese and unnecessary applications
  • Google Play Store fixes so more applications are visible/compatible
  • updated busybox v1.21.0.git (2012-11-29)
  • Unix like init.d boot scripts support, more details on init.d scripts here
  • Android 4.2 AOSP stock launcher from here

Download: kasty-fnf_ifive_2s-411-105-rooted2.zip

Use Rockchip Batch Tool version 1.6 to flash the firmware, don't flash using the "sdcard" method.

Please report any problem with this firmware, I can't verify this custom firmware works as I don't have an iFive 2S to test it.

Hi,

can you please tell me what kind of software you used for rooting.

Have the titanium backup and root installed. Do I need anything else?

Thank you!

Hi,

I am able to start the rockchip tool and my tablet with the adroid lying with the red triangle.

But I am not able to connect my tablet with windows.I tried two different systems with win 7 32 bit and 64 bit and different drivers. But always there is code 10 coming up that during installing an error occured.

Does anybody know how I can fix that? Otherwise I can't root my tablet!

Thanks!

You need to do the following steps to connect the FNF iFive 2S tablet with your windows PC and the Rockchip tool:

1. Shut down the tablet by pushing the power button and choose "Ok";

2. Push on the volume + button and put the USB cable in the tablet, hold on the volume + button;

3. Windows will see a new unknown USB connection. Install the Rockchip driver which has been delivered with the Rockship tool.

4. After installing the driver you can release the volume + button.

5. Start the Rockship tool and you will see that it recognize the tablet and you can install the new firmware.

After installing the new firmware you can starting up the tablet by pushing the power button.

Thanks to the instructions, I was able to install the drivers and get the rooted firmware on my I five 2s. The rom works great, I think it boosted the WiFi signal, not really sure. All the apps I installed have worked like their supposed to. I ran antutu with this ROM and got a 17006, not bad considering I had apps in the back ground to try to simulate normal use, thanks for the rooted ROM.

I don't know of any, if one comes out I'm pretty sure it will be reported in the forum.

YEAH!
I did it. Rockchip Batch Tool recognized my device (iFive 2S), i followed those instructions:

Now: as for the config.ini modification, I found on minixforums a post by user Snurb that does the trick.  You open config.ini (located in the same folder where the .exe file is) and look for this line:

LOGFLAG=TRUE

#SUPPORTLOWUSB=TRUE时,扫描支持full speed usb设备,默认只支持high speed usb设备
SUPPORTLOWUSB=

This you change into:

LOGFLAG=TRUE
#SUPPORTLOWUSB=TRUE时,扫描支持full speed usb设备,默认只支持high speed usb设备
SUPPORTLOWUSB=TRUE
FULLSPEEDUSB=TRUE

Save & close.

Then you start Rockbatch Tool and all of a sudden, I had a green flashing light… ready to flash the new firmware!
