Here is an Android 4.4.2 KitKat rooted custom firmware for the iFive mini3 (Retina version) tablet. This firmware is based on the official iFive firmware 2.1.0 dated 2014/03/07. It is designed for the Retina model and won't work on the older mini3 device running at 1024x768 resolution.

  • changed permissions on external sdcard to allow write access
  • increased space for applications (/data partition) to 4 GB
  • disabled OTA updates (may cause problems)
  • added Google Experience Launcher (GEL) in addition to iFive stock launcher
  • included temporary fix for multi-user support, thanks to didierm
  • kernel modules (cifs, tun, lan, serial, xpad) compiled by Oma & Crew RKTablets, thank guys!

Download: kasty-fnf_ifive_mini3_retina-442-210_20140307-rooted4_mu.zip

Use Rockchip Batch Tool version 1.7 to flash the firmware, use Restore button.

Please report any problem with this firmware, I can't verify this custom firmware works as I don't have an iFive mini3 retina to test it.

Just wanted to know if this thread is still active. I've tried flashing my Ifive Mini3 Retina. Everything went according to plan. Installed Rockchip batch tool, was able to put the custom rom on it and started flashing it. The flash was a success but my devices keeps on vibrating and won't turn on after the flash has been completed. I don't know what to do anymore. Tried powering up my device but it just keep on vibrating. Hoping someone can help me with this.

Hi, i think this post is almost dead, but i'd suggest to you flash the tablet again, it usually solves the problem. Or maybe you missed something. Good luck.

Actually I've tried flashing the tablet again but still no luck. Keeps on vibrating and I'm totally clueless on what to do. Anyway, thanks for a quick response. Hoping for a feedback to those who know the thing about flashing Ifivemini 3.

how is the battery? i had a problem with my ifive mini3 not charging correctly when i was overseas, either i took the wrong charger or the power rating was wrong.. anyway, had a very similar issue and i thought the tablet was dead. when i got home though, i left it on charge for a day and then turned it back on again and it worked fine.

might be completely wrong, but that's what i did when it happened to mine.

Hi Noss. Thank you for taking time in replying. Actually I don't think it's a problem with the battery. This just started after I tried to flash my device to this custom ROM. Does it matter if my stock rom is 4.2.2 and suddenly try to flash it to 4.4 which is this custom ROM?
