i just checked mine as well. Antutu runs fine but the CPU in this tablet should be a Rockchip RK3188 ARM Cortex-A9 Quad-core Processor. antutu reporting an RK3066...

Have we been conned? this is where i got mine.

http://www.minitake.com/en/fnf-ifive-mini3-79-retina-android-44-quad-core-16gb-tablet-p-90970.html

so what I then done is installed CPU-Z and it shows as having an RK3188 CPU... Panic Over.....Wink

Hi,

my Serial Number ends ...C01556.
The most stable ROM for me is this one:
http://pan.baidu.com/s/1bnvhnvp?qq-pf-to=pcqq.c2c

Sometimes it crashes when I download/install an app ... but after reboot, I can use the app.
E.g. TouchdownHD is now up and running

Is the somewhere an older 4.x JB ROM i can download?Perhaps even rooted?

Hello,

I flashed the OC kernel with 1.8 ghz.

Should I Nofrills at the min clock frequency also increase or leave in the smallest setting.

I'm sorry my English is not good (Google Translate :-))))

Update to the SD card issue, I found a 1GB sandisk SD card. Inserted it into the tablet and its fine. Rebooted and still have wifi. So I guess it matters what type of SD card you put in. interesting....Cool

for what it's worth, i've got a 16gb sandisk class 10 card in mine.

And you are right ... I am currently in chats with someone in China to get it replaced ... but its a long way from China to Germany and back again. Thats why I asked the "software thing question".

well, good luck with getting the tablet swapped, i hope it goes ok! i'm glad mine works well after reading this! i bought mine from aliexpress, the seller seems quite good though so if i have any problems i'm hopeful that i'll be ok.

maybe we should move general chatter out of the firmware thread. appologies if i helped derailed the thread a little.

Finally got the custom ROM installed. I had to hold the power button in and keep it held in. This then made windows see it as an unknown device and then the drivers installed.

As for the SD card. I tried again, put in the 8gb card. Rebooted and no WiFi. I'll try another SD card when I find one. I have emailed fnf for support but there support has to be the worst in the world. Still waiting on a reply.

Hi!, i'm trying to flash this rom too, how did you do to install the drivers, i mean step by step, please!! Laugh

You have to use the 'switch' button before the 'restore' one (the icon become green when it's ready to flash...

Here is what I done, every time I plugged in my ifive mini 3 device manager would pick it up as an ifive mini 3, so I thought this was good but it would never Install the drivers. When opening the rk flash tool I would always get a pink square.the instructions say to hold power button until the screen goes black and plug it in. This did not work for me. Out of pure frustration (with device manager open to see how it detects the device) I held the power button, screen went black, keep holding it until windows detects it ( I probably was not holding the power button long enough) as unknown device, keep holding it and update the driver, point to the rk driver, once installed it let go of the power button. When I opened the flash tool I had a green square 1. Then loaded the ROM to flash and hit restore. Good luck as this can be annoying.

Thanks a lot!! I got some tip, I'm not exactly a newbie flashing phones, but it's my first time with a tablet, so i figure that deactivating the "debbuging mode" should do something different, so it was. Just connect the usb an open the Rockchip Batch Tool appear the pink slot, so i did what bab1c todl me and the slot turn green, and installed the drivers :D so now i can flash the Kasty ROM

Hi,

I've just install the overclock kernel over the Kasty rom, and it work very well  on my mini3 retina (no more lags).

To install it you have to follow these steps :

- Use RKBatchtool to put the tab in flash mode (with th switch button)

- Exit RKBatchTool

- Use RKAndroidTool to flash the Boot********.img (select only 'boot' and verify the path and name of the flash file)

- Click on the 'Run' button

- The tab restart, you have to select the max frequency with "NoFrill cpu control" for example....

Edit : i've only flash with the 1704mhz cpu, 660 gpu version...

I've done all the steps and restarted as usual, but where do i select the max frequency and the "No frill CPU control" option??? i don't want my tab to explode hehe

BTW despite i don't trust blindly in benchmarks, my Antutu score is 20164

Hello everyone at Arctablet!

I've recently got my iFive mini 3 retina, and as this is my first android tablet I've never flashed anything before. I read some threads about how to do it and I managed to flash it pretty easily.

However I've got some problems with the OC...

First I tried the 1704mhz OC, as I liked to try if it was enough as a boost. The tablet booted up as normal but it kept crashing after a while, I tried to run the antutu but that would either crash the app or the tablet. I did change the max frequency in "No Frill CPU".

After that I thought, what the hell I'll try the 1800mhz aswell, so I clocked it and the tablet wouldn't boot anymore.

I reversed it and I'm back with the origional clock frequenzy, and that leaves me wondering... you guys have been successfull in overclocking the tablet, why is it different for me?

Any suggestions?

1. What do you mean with "tablet crashes"?? Yesterday i flashed the kasty rom andand the OC. today when i was watching a movie the screen went black, but i still listen the movie and using the on screen buttons, so i had to lock with the turn on button for a few seconds and again appeared the image...

2. Well, sometimes when you flash a rom in a android smartphone it has some problems like boot loops or battery drain or whatever, and is when you must re flash the rom after your data wipe. In this case, probably reflashing would help... I'm not sure... Tomorrow i will try it.

Btw i overclocked to 1704mhz
