This kitchen does not support Rockchip based device.

Here are some links to get your started, I'll complete it later:

Archosfans WIKI for older Rockchip RK28xx tablets, the general is still valid, but there are variations on some part of the procedure

http://wiki.archosfans.com/index.php?title=Dump_your_Home_Tablet_rom_and_create_a_custom_rom

Our WIKI and steve's scripts:

http://www.arctablet.com/wiki/index.php/Archos_Arnova_10_G2_Linux_Development

Some tips I gave finless when he was just starting Laugh

http://www.arctablet.com/blog/forum/arnova-10-g2-development-forum/modifying-the-arnova-10-g2-custom-firmware/

Regarding the stock Arnova 9G2 firmware, browse around the dedicated subforum, I believe it's in there.

i cannot for the life of me extract boot.imghow do  strip the header for a start lol 😛 im a real noob

Before i was going to change the boot.img i wanted to known if recreating an idendical boot.img was possible.
what i did to check was:
- strip header and footer from boot.img, that gave me a gzipped initrd file
- exstract the the initrd (with was a cpio)
- change nothing
- build a new initrd (with cpio and gzip)
- use rkcrc -p to recreate boot.img
with a small change to rkcrc (changing the header from PART to KNRL)
The new boot.img and the original boot.img are idendical

use rkunpack for step1

last step should use rkcrc -k, see Steves doc on the WIKI

http://www.arctablet.com/wiki/index.php/Rksp_pack_boot.img.pl

Latest rkutils are here:

https://github.com/naobsd/rkutils

I prepared a compiled version sometime ago, you should find it in the forum.
