I was able to upgrade the tablet, but the last line says: "Upgrade Done Success <1>Fail<0>time<128108>ms...''

The device works fine but the battery indicator is at 1%. Did something went wrong? Do I need to repeat the process?

it's ok . you don't need to do the process again. charge the tablet with 5v 2A charger install from google play

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nema.batterycalibration&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5uZW1hLmJhdHRlcnljYWxpYnJhdGlvbiJd

and wait until the battery goes to 100% 4000mv then push calibrate (grand permissions)  and leave the tablet for 10 mins without the charger connected. for best standby time use cpu sleeper (its for disabling the second core when the tablet is locked) and set cpu (to set clock speed to 1.2 ghz)

for better multitasking I use autokiller memory pro and used extreme profile and kernel tweaks from the software and I have set them on boot. now my u9gt4 runs smoothly and stable with very good standby time.

Hope that I helped.

Btw its a very good cheap tablet with great performance.

Have everyone sold their U9GT4:s or what is the thing :) ?

Mine just does the charging bug, if you let the battery to drain out, it's really hard to get the battery charged. First battery melted down in it, so I changed a 5000mAh battery inside. It gives me about 6hours of usage time :)

I have not sold my tablet. :) :) I like this tablet very much. :) Its really good cheap tablet. With the v1.03 firmware my tablet does not have the battery problem. I can play 3D games for 3 hrs and movies about 7.5 hrs. Standby time is 4 days i.e about 100 hrs.

How to change the battery? How to remove the back cover of the tablet? Can you show me by taking some photos of your tablet? I know a person who repairs mobile phones, will he be able to change the battery of my tablet?

HOW did your battery melt down???

Yeah it's nice one, but I'm frustrated with the battery indicator problem.. Have re-flashed the firmware several times (this 1.03 rooted) and used battery calibration etc.

I was at gym watching netflix and the tablet suddenly got REALLY hot, even burning to hand, and switched off. Lower right corner popped up, and I was able to separate the whole screen from the aluminum body. It's pretty hard, but aluminum gives up if you gently pull it, starting where the buttons are.

The battery had two holes in it,

and I just took it off, ordered a 5000mAh battery from Aliexpess, after I measured it's easy to fit on.

It looks like those burning batteries are not just a myth Confused Can you read the capacity/specs on your damaged battery ?

The replacement is in an interesting project Blur, looking forward the result to see how the battery fits and the improvement on the battery life.

Cheers.

Already threw the burned battery away, but it was just like this one

http://www.aliexpress.com/item/L003-3000mAH-PLIB-polymer-lithium-ion-battery-Li-ion-battery-for-tablet-pc-mp3-mp4-cell/627860861.html

A tad lower, but the 5000mAh fits fine, and I used some super-double-sided tape to attach it onto aluminum shell.

Had a little youtube-test with lady gaga 10 hours (WITHOUT SOUND ;) ), with maximum screen resolution.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/v8aigxttfqd58ev/2013-01-31%2017.44.36.png

There was still 15% after 4h40min, will do now test in couple days.

That was conducted just after installation, IMO now the system has adjusted to the battery much better, and I found that the original Micro-usb -cable is horrible piece of shit (leaks to outer shell while charging! tickels..), so started to use Micro-usb -cable that came with Nokia N9 and now it's charging much better (Using Vanson 5V/2A charger).

I'm also using DS Battery Saver with Aggressive setting, to get good deepsleep-results. Don't want to hang it to the charger all the time, charging only when needed to.

Thanks mastatool & admin, I flashed my tablet in a few minutes and works like a charm. Now I am charging the battery and after that I will try to recalibrate using the Battery Calibration app described by kokovios (thanks, kokovios!).

However, I have a question: has anyone installed any linux distribution on this tablet? (with or without X)

I would like to run any Linux distro that will permit me to install Wine - I want to run LTSpice simulator via Wine on my tablet, hi hi hi...

Any answer and information will be appreciated !

Best regards,

Bob

Hello,

Apps like Complete Linux Installer may get you some taste of Linux. Still, it won't give you full Linux support and is not guaranteed to work with the U9GT4. A package like PicUntu is probably a better option but I don't think it's easy to get it working with the U9GT4.

Anyway, running Wine over Linux to execute x86 code on the ARM processor from your Cube would probably have very limited performance and it would probably be more efficient to find a similar/compatible app on Android.

I hope it helps.

Cheers.
