Hello Everyone! I was having wifi range drop issues like most of you. I worked very hard to find the solutions and I am very happy to inform you that my wifi issues with this Cube u30gt2 tablet have been fixed. So, you have to do two things to get a better wifi outcome.
1. You need to remove the long metal strip surrounding your tablet. Use Torx T-3 screw driver to remove the strip surrounding the tablet. Keep the smaller metal strip around the buttons and slots intact. Don't remove that.
2. You will need to open the tablet back cover and find the wifi metal antenna. It is located towards the speaker. Put an electrical tape under and over the antenna. It is making a contact to the metal covering both from the top and bottom. You need to avoid the antenna from doing that. That's why you are putting few tapes over and under the antenna.
Viola! Be ready for excitement. You can verify the tremendous improvement by installing wifi analyzer app on the tablet. Monitor the before and after signal strength and range. I was very happy after the improvement. Cube should have done a better job in quality control with this great tablet.

Hello
Thank you for this post
There is already another post dealing with it but having more feedbacks is always better

The point2 you described is not clear for me:
1/ "Put an electrical tape under and over the antenna" => it is non-conductive like capton right?
2/ after puting the tapes did you put back the metal strip arround the tablet?
Could you add to your post photos of point2 please?
You didn't change the antenna?
Regards

Few clarifications : These two steps are completely independent of each other. The metal strip surrounding the tablet you will remove in step 1 is done. You are not putting it back, ever.
Then in step 2, you can use any non conductive plastic tape over and under the wifi antenna. When you open the back cover of the tablet to reach your wifi antenna, be careful not to break any electronics. In USA, it's the black color electrical tape freely available. Don't put too much tape, just enough so that the antenna isn't making any contacts with the metal under it or the metal plate above it. No, I didn't replace the antenna.
I hope this helps. Make sure to install the app Wifi Analyzer with the settings at L0 for the shortest time interval to check the signal strength on tab2 before you put this mod. You will see the improvement with your own eyes! Choose one spot in your house to determine before and after improvements.
Good luck!

I compared the WiFi speed between nexus 4 and u30gt2, and nexus is exactly 10 times faster! This tablet is an engineering joke. Without a WiFi this is actually a photo frame. I will try your mod as last resort, and if it does not work, I will return the photo frame back to China. Typing this text on gt was a real nightmare BTW. Lag, lag, lag!

I tried your suggestion and did not help at all. This tablet is beyond useless and it's going back to China first thing tomorrow. I would suggest everyone to stop wasting time on bad engineering jokes like this one, removing metal strips, replacing antennas with others designed for something totally different, and pouring magic powder on wireless cards. We would all be better off shelling out 100 eur more and getting tablets with engineering basics done right.

I've tried this.... IT WORKS GREAT FOR ME ..... before I can scan and see those wifi ssid but never got connected .... after done this , I can connect to them without any problem ......

Connecting to network means nothing. Measure the speed with speedtest.net and see how much you will get. I get descent speed only 1m from the router. 5m or more, and it's already useless. All my tablets like Asus TF101 get 100% speed (20Mpbs) anywhere in the house, only cube runs at bare minimum of 10% or less, unless I sit on the router antenna.

Hi,
Just wanted to add that I performed the fix and got x10 increase in speed using speedtest.net . Also, Now I see ~8 wifi networks instead of a single wifi network I saw before.
Amazing, thanks for the OP for fix.
BTW, my nexus 4 still is x2 faster than my cube after the fix. Do you think that replacing the antenna will give me the extra x2 in speed?

I haven't replaced the antenna, so can't comment on that. Technically, it should improve if someone wants to do that and they do a good job soldering the antenna.
I am happy this mod is helping Cube owners out there, like myself.

had some wifi issues too but fixed it simply by changing position of my router and changing wifi channel. now, with 7mtr from router to tablet (one wall inbetween) I get a connection of 52mbps and no modifications to the tablet.
true the tablet isn't the best in wifi reception but my girlfriends sony tablet S is equally bad and my brothers asus slider also have a bad wifi.
my previous tablet (samsung 10.1 p7510) had a perfect wifi connection but didn't have all the goodies this tab has.
if only cube would get the kernel fixed so the graphics wouldn't get scrambled at a lot of apps.
Android geek owning a S3 with custom rooted fw, mid816 also custom rooted and a Cube U30Gt2 guess what....also custom rooted!

Don't waste you time and money. I replaced antenna and cable with Tyco one, and still have same old crappy reception. I just got myself a very expensive photo frame.
