You use the tablet as an alarm? Okay... I can say that I play with the tablet about 20 to 30 feet from my router, through three bedroom walls and I still get two bars at least, the router is in my son's room and he keeps his door close, my other son's room is between mine and the router. I did go to the ATT site, my carrier, and changed the frequency as was suggested here on one of the treads. WHen I am at my desk in my room, about five feet closer than in bed to the router, I get a full 3 to 4 bars of signal.

I did have a few issues, but nothing major as I said. I would like suggestions about this part of my previous post to see if I need to do something else. And I do severly miss cwm with this rom too.

"I notice my start up from pushing the power button to full load of initial screen is longer than the last rom(minor prob. not an issue I am really concerned with, but thought I'd mentioned it.). I am also still having that pesky problem with swiping on the apps list screen. If I tap to go to another page it returns me to the front screen instead of the next page of apps. If I swipe it moves normaly to the next page. Its minor, but it was not there with the 7/27 rom."

Yes, why not? Tablet is mostly in my bedroom to read few articles before I get sleepy. There is innovative app in Google play store called "Timely Alarm Clock" that can sync alarms on all android devices. For example, let say I have a meeting at work and we decide to get hour early the next day. I get my phone right away and set up new alarm for tomorrow. Timely syncs that with my tab. No need for me to remember to update any old alarm clocks when I get home. Even better, there is no need for me to make sure that I have my phone near my bed. I mean, sometimes I forget my phone in the living-room. So, if u30gt2 would have functioning alarm, it would make this easy for me. Now I still have to make sure my phone is near before I go to sleep and the whole point of the story is not why I use tab as alarm clock, but that Cube/Rockchip can't even get native Android alarm clock to work right on their tab.

Wow...nothing more to say : they're fast! :)

I can't say if alarm works or not and must believe you :) ...function is here to be used by some people

See the bad points and not the good ones :

- screen is nice...in my opinion nothing with such a screen under 400$ with well known brands

- even advanced web browsing is fast (please use Opera....as Chrome is not good with FullHD Tegra 3 tablets too : Asus TF700 and Acer Iconia A700)...remember no tablet is as fast as x86 PC...Edit : I verify I was wrong now html5 support is equivalent on both Chrome and Opera, chrome seem to work better since yesterday update...or am I dreaming?

- reading is pleasant

- most games works fine even dispite the huge resolution

- huge SD Size

- MicroSD slot for easy photo transfert from camera

- connectivity.....but 1 bad point because it don't charge with usb

- very good 3.5mm jack audio output

...

Shame on the wifi for people who have the problem...I can easily imagine this could make the device unusable!

And please believe me when I say I test both first Nexus 7 and Cube u30gt2 side by side

I make several benchmark tests (about 10 differents) and user test and still sometime have the Nexus in hands...Cube is very often better, I can publish all the results

I prefer Cube mainly because of its size (better if you're not a nomad user) and better colours of screen

Compare to my first tablet I bought one year before (Mpman 9.7" Allwinner A10) witch cost me nearly the same price in France....outch! what a gap!

If you don't like it...maybe you should sell it...and go for devices in witch you trust

Info : Asus will go for Rockchip in MemoPad...

The rockchip 3188 is actually a really decent chip, the other components drag him down :)
Ofc, it needs optimisation, is not qualcomm, or Intel, or Tegra

They had to optimise Chrome, considering that they just launched another full hd tablet

My previous tablet was also an A10. It was terrible. Often, when I wanted to seemon the net, it was much faster to turn on the pc, wait until it boots up, and I used my tablet only for epub reading, and chechkin emails. But the cube cannot be compared to that. For example, this arctablet forum is a complex one, and the cube U30 handles it vwry well.

No offence meant on the alarm thing, just never thought to use it that way, I use my phone and my alarm clock, that way if I fling them both off the night stand I wont cry as much if I crack the screen :-) and then only on the phone because I make do with a cheap 5 dollar radio/alarm clock that is as tough as a buick, based on all the times it has fallen of the night stand...lol. But heck if you want to use it as a clock you alrady are a braver man than I am, id be to worried that I would be to spazzed not to throw it off trying to turn off the alarm.

They had to optimise Chrome, considering that they just launched another full hd tablet

Rk3188 is decent as it has the same power as Exynos 4412 on Samsung Galaxy Note 2

Quadcores 1.6Ghz Cortex A9 with 533Mhz Mali400MP4 GPU...most important pieces have the same Arm design (Mali400 is a GPU designed by Arm), same frequences...close benchmarks results (as I mesure on rk, and see on web for Exynos), optimisation is not that bad yet (with 2.04) : FullHD is both force and weakness of U30GT2. But there's still things to improve

Totally right with Qualcomm quadcores S4 PRO or S600 : Krait is Better than A9, Adreno 320 is better than Mali400MP4

Intel Z2460 (in Motorola Razr i) is not better than rk3188....with the new Z2560 (in Galaxy tab 3 GT-P5200), GPU PowerVR544MP2 is better (close Fillrate, but far far better Geometry), CPU it depends : it's hard to compare x86 vs Arm

As rk is close to Exynos, You can look at GTab 3 vs G-SIII (Exynos 4412 1.4Ghz/440Mhz) or G-Note2 : for exemple Geekbench 2, show that multithreaded CPU power is better on quad A9 than dual x86

http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_tab_3_101-review-948p4.php

And Tegra....not many things are better on Tegra 3 (only GPU Geometry, but Fillrate is weak)

Tegra 4 seem to be really amazing!!! maybe better than Qualcomm

I'm waiting for Mediatek mt8135 launch...not as good as S800 or Tegra 4 but promising for next low-cost tab

@vlevi

On A10 the worst think was web browsing, the reason why I change. With other things you can manage...I see a page open in 0'15 with the rk3188 and about 2'30 with A10!

And 0 system update!

But a very good video decoder!

Cube is paradise next to A10 :)
