Thanks maikal, kellbain for your answers.. in the end I decided to take the risk and solder the wires to the PCB... I took off the dust of my ol'solder, took couple of trankimazin pills (joking ;-) ) and thought that worst case scenario I would have a good excuse to buy another tablet :)

Everything went fine, I have not noticed any difference at all (as expected) but at least now I know it's done properly... and had quite some (heart attack inducing) fun...

Cheers

Hi,

I just ordered and installed this battery into my U30GT2:

http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/7-4V-11000mAh-lithium-ion-battery-DIY-Cube-U30GT-U30GT1-U30GT2-dual-four-core-tablet-battery/631097_1536266414.html

It's an excellent battery and fits the tablet perfectly except for the need to cut the wires a little shorter. This is a 4 cell battery with two cells running in series and the two pairs of cells running in parallel. Because of this you will have no problem with the charger trying to charge out of balance cells.

It took two weeks for it to reach me, but then the shipping was free. I have easily doubled my old run time with the new battery. Please be careful when you solder the wires to the mainboard, you must not over heat the board or you can burn out components. Do not be tempted to use the old batteries wires, the gauge is too small and causes too much resistance. ALSO, this is a live battery, if you short it against a component you can easily burn your mainboard!

Best of luck!

PS: I finally found the link you put in by pasting it into Google, the size of the battery is the same as the one I bought, it claims to be 1000mAh larger than mine and the output voltage is correct. They don't say that the input voltage is 12 volts, which it needs to be for the charger the tablet uses. You should text the seller (at the Aliexpress site) and ask if it's 12 volt charger input or not. Price is excellent, but they can't ship via China post as the service doesn't allow batteries to ship. Mine ended up coming via Sweden Post and it was explained in the ad that it would be shipped this way. My wife is Chinese and we have friends in China that would have shipped it for me, but were turned away at China Post. In the picture, the battery is marked as using LG cells; ask the seller if they are really LG. If they are, then buy the battery as it's a good deal. One thing, there are a lot of faked brands coming out of China and I know from experience LG batteries from China can be fake.

I've ordered this
http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/7-4V-11000mAh-lithium-ion-battery-DIY-Cube-U30GT-U30GT1-U30GT2-dual-four-core-tablet-battery/631097_1536266414.html

but it can not charge with 12V 2a from the original one, please tell me how it works. I've decided to put the old battery.( old battery was broken it can run only 10min. Without plug in charger).

Hi all, I ordered two different batteries for my u30gt2 a 1100mAh (http://www.aliexpress.com/snapshot/6023851764.html) and a 1200mAh( http://www.aliexpress.com/snapshot/6023851765.html) from Aliexpress. Both arrived in about 3 weeks complete with torx screwdriver and the 1200mAh one had a full kit.  The 1100mAh one is physically bigger than the other and more than twice the price. Tested the 1100 one and it performed well although it has had only 5 cycles, the 1200 is in now so will see how it performs. So far great but a bit early to tell.

One thing to watch is the battery thickness placing pressure on the back of the screen. Just watch where the tapes go and where the battery cables sit when assembled. Also by carefully flexing the metal frame a little to make it proud of the batteries will prevent what looks like a "smear" on the screen. If it happens just bend the metal frame a little, stress little!  Just need to make it take the pressure off the batteries.

Btw, the 1200 battery has LG written on the label and when I asked the company they confirmed that they were LG. BUT they wouldn't confess to saying they were fake. As far as the power cables; I found that one of my leads only had a few strands connecting and were less gauge than the replacement batteries. Soldering to the circuit board is not difficult but use a magnifying glass to watch what you are doing, make sure your iron is hot before trying to solder.

I'm curious about that 12000mAH one.. please post your results after a couple of days... suspicious that it's so much cheaper that the 11000maH... hope it works fine, let us know!

Cheers

Will do.. Woke up this morning and it was 0%!  So all vanished overnight without any use. Suspect a rougue bit of software. Went back to a stable ROM and will let you know. The smaller size of the physical battery makes me suspicious as well. Takes longer to charge so there is a difference. Anyway, will report in about a week after a few cycles.

Thanks Frankk for your work and comment. I'm also interested to know that 12000mAH one, see if you can give us advice.

Hi kikosys, I have reloaded a stock 4.42 from this site and battery life is back to normal. The 1200mAh battery is performing well after about three cycles. The android battery monitor shows "charged " after about an hour of surfing. Haven't done a controlled test as yet. Is will try a looping video to test it properly.

Overall the battery lasts longer that the stock one but (will need to remove and replace) will test the 1100mAh battery later. Just don't feel like removing and soldering again plus it is a tight fit and puts pressure on the back of the screen leaving a slight smeary look in places.  But with careful fitting I think that this could be eliminated. Still can't understand why the 1200mAh battery is half the price and about 90% the size and thinner (slightly) than the 1100mAh one; is easier to fit. Free freight is an attraction but as my original battery only lasted for 8 months I now have a spare when one of these fails?????????

Hope that this helps

Then you recommend the battery 12000 mAh before the battery 11000 mAh? Thanks Frankk

Hi again. I will post a recommendation after a proper video looping test, but the feel is that the 1100 may be slightly ahead but need to test. However both are better than the stock so value for money may go to the 1200mAh one, fits better also!  It also comes with a full kit to dismantle the Cube including the Torx 4 screwdriver.

Hi frankk,

How was that video looping test? Could you confirm the 11000 mah is the one giving the best results? Thanks!

        Torx: t3 for Cube U30GT2

Ummm no, suitable torx is T2, at least on my U30GT2 unit. First I had ordered T3 based on information posted somewhere only to find out three weeks later it's too big for screws. So I ordered T2 to find out two weeks later that it fits nicely.
