A very nice guy at the Freaktab forum, called "abdul_pt" has produced working TWRP_recovery images for the Cube U30GT2. The version that you need depends on whether you are running a JellyBean ROM, or a KitKat ROM on your tablet.
- JellyBean: http://www.freak-tab.de/abdul_pt/TWRP/Specifc/TWRP_U30GT2.img
- KitKat: http://www.freak-tab.de/abdul_pt/TWRP/Specifc/TWRP_U30GT2_KK.img
Don't install the wrong one!
These two images above are specifically for Cube U30GT2, and for no other tablet. Each has an embedded Cube U30GT2 kernel (JB, or KK) in it.
Generic TWRP images:
Generic Rockchip images can be found here: http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.php?11324-TWRP-2-7-0-0-For-Rockchip-s
The generic images don't have a kernel in them (which is why they are generic) - so they require the tablet to have a working kernel.
TWRP:
If you don't know what TWRP recovery looks like, look here: http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.php?10466-Unofficial-TWRP-2-7-0-0-for-Rockchip-s
The main advantage over CWM is that it works by tapping on buttons on the screen, rather than by pressing some hardware button (apart from having more functionality). For someone like me, whose Cube no longer has working power or volume buttons, CWM recovery is no longer useful, hence my search for TWRP.

The embedded kernel is the stock kernel, I believe.
The Recovery image's embedded kernel doesn't affect the kernel that is installed with your ROM in any way - it just means that the Recovery image is fully self-contained.
By the way, this is the same whether the Recovery image is CWM or TWRP. The generic images have no kernel and rely on the ROM's kernel - but the device-specific images have a kernel for the specific device (normally one from a stock ROM) - meaning that the Recovery can function properly even if the installed kernel is broken.
So the choice is whether you would prefer a generic image to a specific one. Neither has any impact on your installed kernel.

I want to switch cwm for twrp on my damaged tablet (LCD needs replacement but still work) so I can try out other roms and upgrades on that tablet before using them on my good Cube. How do I go about switching cwm for twrp or can I flash both to use dually? Can both be on the tablet?

Flashing one will simply overwrite what is already there. If you already installed cwm then you know how to install any other recocvery, since all you are doing is replacing what is in the recovery partition.
