Great news! Good for you!

I have good news too, for now: cube-tablet refunded my shipment expenses and sent my tablet back. I expect to receive it by the end of the next week.

I hope it's a different unit from the one I sent them; I will post the end of the story, if anybody is interested.

The new battery has arrived. It's not a direct replacement BUT it is a better arrangement as it's made up of two 3.7V 8000mAH cells in series and so avoids the need to balance the charge between two 7.4V batteries in parallel.

That is the arrangement in the U30GT2 and there was no attempt to balance the charging and my guess is that is what killed one of the cells.

After fitting and charging I ran an Antutu battery test and the results where brilliant. The test lasted 5 hours and there was still about 30% charge left. The tablet came 2nd in the results league with a score of 747 which was a huge improvement on the 117 it scored with the faulty cell.

All in all very pleased.

On a side note, McBub offered to send me a replacement battery IF I paid for it AND shipping. Not impressed as they specified a 12 month guarantee for parts.

Thanks for the battery info, where did you get the replacement batteries? (I am having many of the same problems everyone else seems to be having with this tablet)

IF you get this battery you have to split the batteries and remove the pcb before wiring them in series.

Thanks for the information, I have some other things to try first to be sure it REALLY is the battery. The lesson here really is you get what you pay for, I wanted a cheap tablet to mess with, it is that if nothing else....Cool

I thought I would elaborate on my experience with this tablet.... I purchased it via HDGate, and it360, (we do business through DHGate at work and are testing tablets for a project we are working on, so far we were happy with the U20, and were curious about the U30gt2 as a little better choice (more ram, storage and processor) I wanted a tablet so I ordered one.... DHGate and IT360 have done all they were supposed to do in a transaction like this, however the tablet is really pretty poor compared to others ....

I had a great deal of difficulty getting it to boot, sometimes it will power up right away,

other times it will only power up with a power adapter connected,

and the rest of the time it takes multiple tries to get it to boot.

I have yet to get it into the boot/flash mode to try and use different firmware....

I was intending to use it for carrying around music, and tech manuals in pdf form, when it runs, it does it well, the problem is ...

when it runs....

I also found the touch screen to be very unresponsive,

and the plastic cover is so soft that within several days it is in poor shape.

WiFi reception is poor. (even 4-5 feet from a hotspot it is weak at best)

It will hang randomly, just adding to the general frustration this has caused me. All in all I would never buy another. I really didn't want to buy it to hack around with the hardware, but judging from what I have read so far it seems that is the way to get the tablet to work reasonably well.Confused

I had a similar experience... my tablet arrived and worked... although more sluggishly than I expected.  2 weeks later, it would not turn on without being plugged in... unplugging it while on resulted in immediate power loss as well.  After some research on various forums like this one I found that there was a batch of Cube U30GT2 tablets that shipped out with faulty battery solders...

I am not patient and am familiar with breaking down electronics and soldering, so I decided to open her up and take a peek inside.  Right away I could see that the ground wire was completely loose and that the power wire was BARELY connected.  After some quick soldering, the tablet now charges and operates without being plugged in and runs better than ever!  🙂

Its a bit like a lotto with these tabs, I guess I am lucky that I got a fully functioning tablet, have been using it now for 4 weeks with no issues, except one or two firmware things, which hopefully will be fixed in the upcoming releases

Yes, it does seem so. I can't relate to any of the problems being discussed in this forum, because my tablet has worked perfectly from the start. I bought mine on Ebay ...

Dear Sir is it possible to tell me the dimensions of original batteries?

In fact two batteries serial connected add nominal voltage values and

Keep Intensity value. 3.7V+3.7V=7.4V 4000mA.

Cordially,

That is true BUT each 3.7V cell has a capacity of 8200mAH so it will be as specified in the product data it is 7.4V @ 8200mAH. It is only slightly thicker than the original but it hasn't made any difference to the installation and the tablet works brilliantly.

I finally got the firmware update applied, there was a definite improvement in overall performance, especially video. Some apps are a little unstable, but its stuff i dont really care about anyway. After looking through all the WiFi posts, and the battery issues, dealing with those issues will be next,

Antenna and batteries are next. The WiFi thread had some good photos (on another linked site)  of the battery and antenna layout, this device is pretty simple compared to some laptops I have had the displeasure of working with.CoolCool

Sorry sir, I just mentioned that, because in the link picture says 4100mA x 2 serial connections. Anyway it is not important for me but the dimensions match.

Greetings from Portugal and thank you

I bought the replacement battery from AliExpress couple of days ago. Two 3.7v 8000maH in series making it 7.4 volts with a overcharge protection board (on the second battery). After installing back to the tablet everything works fine except the followings: (1) There is no battery usage information that can be displayed. (2) installed a battery widget, and shows only 4119mv (4.1 volts) and not the 7.4v (supposed to be the battery voltage in series). If any one of you are having similar issues, can you please share you experiences here?

@bigHz, did you remove the over-charge/discharge pcb? I removed it and just wired the batteries in series. The tablet has it's own protection circuit so it isn't needed. My tablet has been working great ever since I installed the new battery.
