My appologies if this has been answered before, my use of Search and Google has not come up with any answers to this either for this tablet in particular or for any android ROM in general.
The issue is that when the tablet goes to sleep after sufficient idle time, it will not wake up to any Alarms set on the Alarm manager. I wrote a very simple android app to test this just to make certain it wasnt an app specific issue. Set an alarm with AlarmManager and let a sufficient ammount of time pass for the tab to go into sleep mode and it never wakes up. Hit the power button to wake it up manually and any alarms that were scheduled to go off during the time it was asleep will then trigger.
In my testing I have the receiver of the alarm modify a txt file with the current date and time. I tried setting a no-screen wake lock first thing and also a screen-on wake lock, both the very first functions in the receiver. No dice. If anyone has any ideas please let me know. I'll also be posting on XDA in the general developer section to see if anyone has any ideas. Thanks!

I have the self same problem with my phone, it is actually a fairly common problem ( a search of xda will get pages of similar problems )
As of now no fix has been found. For myself I have downloaded tune in radio program, what I do is start the program, wait until your chosen channel starts and pause the stream. Then hit your home button without actually exiting it.
You will find it will use a little more battery, but not too much.
It works for me with my phone and it always wakes from sleep......try it, what do you have to lose

Ya, holding a permanent wake lock does alleviate the problem at the expense of battery life. I was hoping for a more correct solution. As for holding a permanent wake lock thier is an easier solution than the one you mentioned. Thier is an app called "Wake Lock" (link at bottom) that will do better than that. Thier still should be a way to make android respond to alarms even in deep sleep but I dont know quite enough about the internals of the linux/android kernel to figure it out myself.
