And first be really sure that you really want to move to KitKat, because it is not a straightforward process to move back to JellyBean.

Hi Darth, thanks for replying. I'm not really sure just beacuse I don't know what kitkat is like.

I'm just sure about something: I want a working and smooth ROM, I just want to exploit all the potential of my cube and then settle down. I don't want to spend months trying and I'm not keen about testing any new ROM on the custom market. If kitkat works, and it's smooth, and gives less trouble than other ROMs, I go for it!

Just in case: what is the last "best" ROM you suggest if I want to stay with jelly bean?

And what are pros and cons of JB vs kitkat?

Thank you, I'm a little confused but with your help I'm sure I'll select the best ROM for my cube.

I don't know what the "best" JB ROM is. This is a value judgement, and much depends on what you want, and how robust your tablet is (hint: all Cubes are not the same). A safe bet is the latest Kasty ROM for each platform.

As for the differences between JB and KK, I don't think this is the right place for that discussion.

Hi,

when I remove /system/priv-app/TeleService.apk and reboot I get a pop-up that says "Unfortunately, Mobile Data has stopped" and reappears every time I press ok. Should I do something else before removing the apk?

Are you using either of the stock launchers? I would suggest installing a 3rd party launcher (like Nova Launcher) and setting it as the default launcher, before trying anything like that.

thanks for the quick reply. Can you briefly explain, how does the launcher interfere with the application that handles mobile data?

Dunno. But you want to eliminate all unpredictables. Stock launchers may be integrated into the system in all sorts of ways that 3rd party launchers are not.

Just updated and i agree with previous posts.

Faster response, far better internet connection, and smoother all round.

I do have one problem though - the resolution is set at S/D with no options to change which is most annoying... Does anyone know how to change this??

I really would be most appreciative for some advise.

Thanks in advance.:)

I have a question that I have been meaning to ask, and I don't think anyone else have, or maybe I missed it. Can one do a factory reset of the tablet while on kit kat rom? and what would happen?

I don't see why not. Would it not just do what any factory reset does? (i.e., delete all the user apps and data, wipe the system, app and dalvik caches, etc).

Hello,

Used this rom since some time now. Had a battery problem ( lasted only 5 mns ) and changed it with no problem ( One battery cell was let's say swollen ). Everything is back to normal, rom is wonderful.

I just saw that it's impossible to turn off the tablet while plugged to recharge battery, it only reboot.

Is it normal ? is there anything i should do to avoid that ?

Thanks.

Just wondered since all these folks have been having problems going back from kitkat to previous roms why not just do a regular old factory reset and then flash the rom they wanted to go back to. It would be the same amount of work pretty much, apps would have to be reloaded anyway.

But hey glad to see we did not loose your sage advice and knowledge to the cube mishap!

With KitKat, it seems you can't avoid it.

Just doing a factory reset will not solve the KitKat-to-JellyBean downgrade problem. That problem arises because of the new 2.x loader (and extra partition stuff) used by KitKat. A factory reset will not touch the loader or change the partition information.

The Cube is still (just about) alive. I'll eventually have to dump it.

In the meantime, I got myself a Ceros Revolution at a very cheap price - also RK3188, but with 2048x1536 resolution, and a number of reported issues (so I bought with my eyes wide open). I've managed to overcome all the issues that are being reported about it (very easy, really). The kernel can't be overclocked stably beyond cpu1700/gpu768/ddr600 (with 18.5k Antutu score), but it is actually quite smooth, and the display is miles ahead of the Cube. We shall see how long my optimism lasts!
